Ex-Chelsea ace Oscar’s Flamengo transfer COLLAPSES at last minute as he releases statement after being pictured in shirt


EX-CHELSEA star Oscar saw a return to Brazil scuppered after club Shanghai SIPG reportedly decided against signing documents allowing the deal to go ahead. 

The two-time Premier League winner, 30, has spent the last five years playing in China for Shanghai following a £54million transfer.

However, Oscar was hoping to end his spell in Asia and sign for Brazilian side Flamengo.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Oscar signed a contract with Flamengo on August 5.

But Shanghai “didn’t sign final documents and so decided against verbal agreement”.

Oscar even took pictures in the Flamengo top, confirming his desire to seal the move.

On the transfer breakdown, Oscar said: “I appreciate the interest of Flamengo and the fans, but it was not possible to do so at that moment. 

“I wish the club the best of luck and all the friends I have there for the remainder of this season. Thank you all!”

The Brazilian’s transfer to play in the Chinese league was one of many high profile moves.

The likes of Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka and Robinho all sealed transfers.

But notably, Oscar was just 25 at the time and was at the peak of his powers at Stamford Bridge.

A number of Europes elite were tracking his progress in 2017 and beforehand.
