The Liverpool midfielder also admitted he cried when Ronaldo’s Brazil lost the 1998 World Cup final
Shaqiri followed in Ronaldo’s footsteps in 2015 when he played for Inter Milan, like the Brazilian superstar did between 1997 and 2002.
And the Reds’ 28-year-old winger said he has always looked up to one of the greatest footballers of all time.
He told Liverpool’s official website: “He was my big, big idol. I did his haircut too – in 2002, the triangle – I did it, too.
“Everybody was shocked in school when I went to school with this haircut. But I loved him and I still love him.

“He is my big idol. I wish I could meet him.”
Asked if the powerful winger tried to copy Ronaldo’s playing style, he said no but admitted he was distraught when the 43-year-old lost one of the biggest games of his career.
He added: “I was not really copying him, because every player is so different and has different specialties and different talents.
“But he was my big hero back in the day.
“When he lost against France in the [1998 World Cup] final, I was crying at home. He was my big idol.”
Ronaldo recently told David Beckham he was the only Englishman who could ever have played for Brazil.
And Shaqiri has continued to be linked with a move away from Anfield with Sevilla and Roma said to be keen on landing the ex-Stoke and Bayern Munich man.
