NEWCASTLE are interested in making Girona boss Michel their next manager, according to reports.
The Toon are on a dismal run of seven defeats in eight matches in all competitions.
The awful string of results has seen Eddie Howe’s injury-hit side crash out of the Champions League and League Cup – while falling to ninth in the Premier League.
Howe, 46, guided Newcastle to the Champions League for the first time in 20 years by finishing fourth last term.
But with this season so far not going to plan, Toon chiefs are said to be looking elsewhere.
According to Spanish outlet Marca, the Magpies are “seriously” considering a move for Girona manager Michel.

The 48-year-old has attracted plenty of interest with the astounding job he is doing at the Catalan club since taking over in 2021.
Girona are neck and neck with Real Madrid at the top of LaLiga, having picked up an incredible 48 points at the halfway stage of the season.
Last night’s epic late 4-3 win over Atletico Madrid also saw them climb ten points above Catalan rivals Barcelona.

Ahead of the match against Atletico, he even claimed that he’d feel “hurt” if Aleix Garcia, one of his star men, would opt to leave this month.
He said: “I get the feeling that Aleix is not going to leave, but it would hurt me regardless of which team he goes to because we would lose him.
“We are not at the level of Barca. We want to continue growing as a club and to do so we need players of Aleix’s level.
“It would hurt me because we lose potential, but I have the feeling that he will continue.”
Spaniard Michel is believed to have two more years remaining on his Girona contract after this season.
He has previously managed Rayo Vallecano and Huesca.
