NEWCASTLE fans have been left fuming at an “underwhelming” list of supposed summer transfer targets.
The Daily Mail report that manager Eddie Howe has identified four players with Premier League experience that he wants for next season.
They claim his shortlist includes Leicester winger Harvey Barnes, Manchester United star Scott McTominay, Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse and Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney.
And Toon fans are not excited by the prospect, one said: “That is a seriously underwhelming wish list.”
Another reacted: “I’d take Barnes, Tierney injured all the time, Ward-Prowse is alright but he specialises in set pieces and we have several free kick takers, McTominay not at all, out his depth against us.”
A third commented: “Can Eddie stay off transfers please.”

However, some fans are like Newcastle’s potential summer business, one wrote: “Barnes is immense, he will be world class under Eddie.
More charmed in: “Good solid signings that’ll greatly improve the squad.”
Barnes has netted ten goals in 27 games for Leicester in the Premier League this season.
The Foxes are in the midst of a relegation battle and if they go down, he and team-mate James Maddison, previously linked with a move to the Toon, could be set for transfers away.

Similarly, Ward-Prowse is likely to leave the Saints should they drop into the Championship.
Tierney is supposedly ready to quit Arsenal after losing his spot in the starting XI to Oleksandr Zinchenko this season.
A fee of £30million is the rumoured asking price for the Scot.
McTominay may leave United this summer with the club ready to cash-in on the player to potentially make way for Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong or Borussia Dortmund ace Jude Bellingham.
Erik ten Hag reportedly has the midfielder, who joined the club aged five, on his list of players he is ready to axe as he continues to rebuild the club.
