MANCHESTER UNITED fans are loving Harry Maguire’s redemption arc after discovering why he rejected West Ham.
The centre-back has enjoyed a return to form in recent games, starting in each of United’s last four wins.
He scored the winner against Copenhagen on Tuesday and helped his side a clean sheet – days after winning man of the match for his performance against Sheffield United.
Maguire, 30, has taken his chance to impress following the injuries to Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw.
But according to The Independent Maguire foresaw such an eventuality happening, which is one of the reasons why he turned down a move to West Ham.
Varane has had injury struggles throughout his United career, as has Shaw, and it appears Maguire backed himself to take his opportunity if it arose.

Fans are delighted with his “redemption arc”, although Maguire previously stated he did not actually rebuff West Ham’s advances.
The England star claims the two clubs never agreed a fee and therefore he did not have an opportunity to say yes or no.
He said: “The actual opportunity to go to West Ham, it wasn’t agreed really between both clubs and myself.
“It wasn’t just my chance to say, ‘Yes, I’m going.’ It wasn’t agreed between both clubs so the actual opportunity wasn’t there because we didn’t get far enough down the line with it.”

The Old Trafford faithful have begun to sing Maguire’s name once again after Harry Redknapp slammed the harsh treatment he has received.
Redknapp said: “Harry has had so much stick over the last couple of years and a lot of it has been completely rubbish.
“He’s been out of favour, but he’s knuckled down and waited for his opportunity. He was superb at Bramall Lane and hopefully the lad can build on that performance moving forward.”
