Graeme Souness takes brutal swipe at Gary Neville for ‘overstepping mark’ with ‘crusades nobody’s interested in’

GRAEME SOUNESS has taken a brutal swipe at fellow pundit Gary Neville.

Souness, 69, has subsequently appeared on a podcast with radio personality Simon Jordan.

When asked about which pundits he enjoys, the fiery Scot told Up Front with Simon Jordan: “Punditry is like every other thing on TV, sometimes you want to watch it, sometimes you don’t.

“I like listening to Roy Keane. The chuckle brothers [Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher] can be quite entertaining.

“I think Gary fights every cause going and I think he oversteps the mark with some of his crusades that he goes on, because in certain subjects no one really wants to listen to Gary Neville.”

The former Manchester United star is never afraid to air his opinions, and announced last year that he had joined the Labour Party.

After appearing on Souness’ final Sky Sports broadcast, Neville was surprised to hear his latest comments.

Even referencing former PM Boris Johnson, the 48-year-old tweeted: “Are there two Graeme Souness’s? That isn’t the one I spoke to on Sunday!

“Jordan is like Boris. Will take everyone down with him.”

Former Crystal Palace owner Jordan then hit back: “Oh dear … looks who’s popped up, the old champagne socialist.

“I said to Graeme , careful the old de facto munchkin mayor of Manchester, with his memo from sky saying he’s always right will get cross!

“Listen don’t worry your podcast will be no1 again I’m sure.”
