Russian side Krasnodar SUSPEND contracts of eight foreign players including ex-Newcastle and PSG stars after Farke quits

RUSSIAN Premier League team Krasnodar have confirmed eight foreign players have had their contracts with the club suspended.

It comes after ex-Norwich boss Daniel Farke quit the club on Wednesday without managing a single game.

Farke, along with his entire coaching staff, mutually terminated their roles at the club following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Now Krasnodar have announced a number of their foreign stars have had their contracts halted.

One of those is ex-Newcastle man Remy Cabella.

And although the club revealed the affected players would ‘train on their own’, Cabella has already returned to his native France.

French outlet FootMercato claim the 31-year-old, who played 34 times for Newcastle, is training with Ligue 1 outfit Montpellier.

Also having his contract frozen is ex-West Brom and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak.

The Poland international is open to ripping up his contract entirely due to events in Ukraine, according to the Daily Mail.

Elsewhere £16.5million Colombian summer signing John Cordoba sees his contract suspended, as do Wanderson, Erik Botheim, Cristian Ramirez, Viktor Claesson, Kaio and Junior Alonso.

But Armenian Eduard Spertsyan will continue to turn out for Krasnodar, despite not hailing from Russia.

Belarusian club captain Alyaksandr Martynovich will also stay with the club.

Belarus have been supportive of Russia’s illegal invasion, with both nations hit by footballing sanctions by Fifa and Uefa.

The Belarusian national team and club sides from the country have to play fixtures at a neutral venue, while Russia have been booted out of the World Cup.

Russian club teams have also been suspended from Uefa competitions.

Krasnodar were forced to postpone a Russian Premier League clash with Lokomotiv Moscow last week due to airport closures in Southern Russia.

And now the club will also be without eight of their players for the foreseeable future.
