EVERTON’S Djibril Sidibe left fans in hysterics after his substitution was delayed because he forgot to put on a sock.
The defender was called upon by boss Carlo Ancelotti midway through the first half following an injury to Theo Walcott.
Sidibe only realised he forgot his sock when he went to pull it up
With the Toffees already ahead in the contest against Palace, the gaffer wanted to waste no time in introducing the Frenchman to proceedings and limit the time playing with ten-men.
But even he could have predicted what happened next when Sidibe randomly disappeared down the tunnel just seconds before he was supposed to come on.
With the 27-year-old standing next to the fourth official with the board in hand, Sidibe went to pull up his socks before running onto the field.
Only then did he realise that he had completely forgotten to wear a sock on his left foot.
Sidibe was then forced to run down the tunnel to finish getting changed to leave Ancelotti in despair on the sidelines.
Fans found the funny side and flooded to social media to have their say.
One said: “How did Djibril Sidibe forget to put his left sock on but put his right one on?”
Another added: “Palace so sterile in attack. Sidibe’s left sock has shown more creative movement in this half.”
A third added: “Not being ready to go on when your on the bench is bad enough, But forgetting to put one of your socks on?”
A fourth joked: “P******* myself at Ancelotti losing his s*** at Sidibe forgetting his sock.”
