Tottenham set very ‘Spursy’ unwanted record after draw with Everton as fans joke ‘greatest bottlers to ever exist’

TOTTENHAM have set an unwanted record following their 2-2 draw with Everton.

Spurs were handed some last minute heartbreak when Jarrad Branthwaite equalised for Everton in the 94th minute.

The North Londoners had been leading for most of the game, but Branthwaite’s late leveller snatched a win away from Ange Postecoglou’s side.

The late goal didn’t just take two points from Spurs, but also landed them with an unwanted record.

Tottenham have now conceded EIGHT goals after the 90 minute mark in the Premier League this season.

That tally is more than any other side in the league this term and the most they have ever conceded in a Premier League campaign.

Spurs conceded two late goals to Chelsea earlier in the season during their 4-1 defeat and then did the same the following week in a 2-1 loss to Wolves.

Their expansive attacking style of play under Postecoglou could be one reason for their leaky late minutes, but fans think it’s simply in the fibre of the club.

One took to social media to write: “It’s the history of the Tottenham.”

While another added: “It’s just who we are, mate.”

A third simply labelled the stat as “Spursy”.

And a fourth joked that Tottenham are the “greatest bottlers to ever exist”.

Tottenham are still sitting in fourth place in the table, but could slip down to fifth if Aston Villa beat Sheffield United this evening.

Although late goals have had an impact on their season with points dropped from both today’s draw and the club’s loss to Wolves, it was likely that a new record would be set this term.

The Premier League’s introduction of new additional time rules has meant that there has been more added time at the end of games than ever before.
