A LEFT back, a centre back, a winger, and a striker – those are the positions that Frank Lampard reportedly wants to bring signings in for this summer.
Those four positions could be the difference between Chelsea fighting for a Champions League spot, and Chelsea fighting for the top three.

But the recruitment must be wise, and I truly believe that Lampard will get that right.
Let’s take a look at four players who could realistically come in and fill those positions for Lampard this summer.
Taking into account that clubs are not expected to be spending big fees on individual players due to the pandemic, I have looked at players who have been strongly linked with Chelsea, but should cost £30m or less.

LEFT BACK – NICOLAS TAGLIAFICO
His reported fee is £22m. That is an absolute steal for a player of his calibre.
The 27-year old is a regular Argentinean international and comes with bags of European experience.
Chelsea already have good connections with his club Ajax after signing Hakim Ziyech back in the winter, and Tagliafico’s agent has already confirmed that his client will be leaving Holland this summer.
This should now be a priority deal at that price for Chelsea, over the likes of Ben Chilwell and Alex Telles.

CENTRE BACK – GABRIEL MAGAHLAES
The 22-year old was heavily linked with joining Chelsea earlier in the lock down, and I believe that he is a player that must be pursued.
He is still young, but still brings experience.
And more importantly he brings dominance of the 18-yard box, leadership qualities, is good on the ball, and good in the air.
He would be far from expensive and should come in under £30m, with Lille looking to sell in the summer.
But he is exactly the type of defender Chelsea needs to reinforce the backline.

WINGER – SAID BENRAHAMA
Yes he is currently a Championship winger, but this deal makes a lot of sense if Chelsea are not willing to spend all out on one player such as Jadon Sancho (which is understandable in the current climate).
First of all, I don’t care what anyone says, Benrahma IS a Premier League quality player and would be a great addition to Chelsea’s squad.
He is a game-changer, a player that makes things happen just like Eden Hazard used to. Of course he isn’t at that level yet, but he has all the ability to get there.
If Chelsea can pick him up for less than the £30m that is being reported, then this will be a great deal that improves our squad. Chelsea already have Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic, and Hakim Ziyech – so whoever comes in will expect to rotate at times, Benrahma will be happy to do so.

CENTRE FORWARD – PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG
Aubameyang at around £30m would be a great addition to Lampard’s squad.
Once again, he brings you plenty of experience in Europe and in the Premier League, he brings versatility to be able to play wide as well as a centre forward, and he has rapid pace which ideally suits Lampard’s high intensity and high press system.
The 30-year old has been linked with Chelsea this summer as it looks likely he will be sold by Arsenal whilst they can still get a small fee for him.
He will help and not hinder the progress of current number 9 Tammy Abraham, and he is a natural goal-scorer. No brainer.
Those 4 additions will give Chelsea enough to compete at a higher level with their current squad in my opinion.
