ALEXANDER SIMS says that his BWM i Andretti team have put rules in place to stop more madness in Marrakesh.
Sims, 31, collided with his then teammate, Antonio Felix Da Costa, in last year’s race when the two were running in positions one and two.
Both drivers were hauled in front of their bosses to stop it from ever happening again.
Alex Sims is currently the leading Brit in the championship
And while Da Costa has since left the team for rivals Techeetah, Sims, who is currently the leading Brit in the championship and just one point behind Mitch Evans, says he is confident he won’t clash with his current teammate, Max Gunther.
He said: “It was very light contact but just so happened that Antonio ended up in the barriers. It was far from ideal.
“We have learnt a lot from it and we grew as a team and understood what went wrong and we now have strategies in place to deal with it in the future.
“Racing is still unpredictable and you cannot guarantee anything but we would hope that if faced with a similar situation again, it would be managed better.”
The dad of three is now in his second season in Formula E and knows he needs to steer clear of trouble to be in with a should of landing the title.
He added: “We have been leading the championship and consistency is key and while that is of high importance, it is very hard to achieve in Formula E with the way the format it is.
“With qualifying as it is, it is more than likely that you will be mid-grid or lower, which is exciting and what the rules are there to create.
“It just makes it a challenge to score points consistently, which I suppose is the fun bit, I guess.”
