TOTTENHAM boss Jose Mourinho has insisted Mauricio Pochettino is “always welcome” at the club following his sacking on Tuesday evening.
Speaking in his first press conference as Spurs manager, Mourinho admits it he feels sad despite taking his first managerial job in 11 months.

The former Manchester United manager said: “I’ve been smiling for two days. First of all I do it with a bit of sadness, I have to speak about Mauricio.
“I have to congratulate him on the incredible job he did.”
Mourinho will be keen to add to his impressive list of silverware at a club that have been consistent runners-up.
Tottenham have consistently finished in the top four and they reached the Champions League final last season, but silverware has proved elusive since winning the League Cup in 2008.

Adding to his message to Pochettino, Mourinho said: “I share with you what we shared inside.
“This club will always be his home, this training ground his training ground.
“He is always welcome here.
“Tomorrow is another day. He will find happiness soon.
“He will give everything like he did at this club.
“He will leave with sadness with the feeling that he did great work.
“It is what everyone at the club felt.”
Since leaving Manchester United 11 months ago, Mourinho has been involved in punditry as he took time to prepare himself for his next challenge.
Speaking about if the time off has helped him improve as a manager, he said: “I think so.
“These last 11 months have been used to think and to prepare.
“You never lose your DNA.
“You are what you are – for the good things and the bad things.
“I know in my career that I’ve made mistakes.”
He insisted this challenge will be different to his previous clubs, by saying: “I’m not going to make the same mistakes.”
Spurs travel to London rivals West Ham on Saturday as they look to repair the poor start to their season which has left them six points above the relegation zone.
