Inside football’s glitziest game as millionaire Hollywood owners and sporting icon face off at Wrexham vs Birmingham

ROLL up for Hollywood vs the Wall Street-backed American sports GOAT: The Sequel.Wrexham and Birmingham face off on Thursday night at the Racecourse Ground, and it’s not just a top-of-the-table League One game — but two glitzy worlds colliding.Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have transformed WrexhamCredit: FX NetworksTom Brady decided to become a joint-owner at BirminghamThe return fixture kicked off earlier in the season with tempers flaringCredit: GettyBrady attended the St Andrew’s showdown with David BeckhamCredit: GettyOr, as Rotherham manager Steve Evans called their first clash, the Real Madrid of League One against the Harlem Globetrotters.Hollywood A-listers Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s third-placed Wrexham host Tom Brady and Tom Wagner’s Wall Street-financed leaders Birmingham in the highest-profile fixture our third tier has ever known. And if Thursday night’s game is anything like the first instalment, we are in for a cracker. When the two teams met at St Andrew’s in September, the Blues came from behind to win 3-1 with two goals from £15million summer signing Jay Stansfield and Tomoki Iwata.READ MORE ON FOOTBALLBut, in truth, the scoreline flattered Wrexham who were overpowered by a team that spent more money in the summer transfer window than any club outside the Premier League.Even Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson quipped: “Birmingham bought every player we wanted to sign!”Not only was Birmingham’s famous old ground packed to the rafters with more than 30,000 fans but the game attracted a global audience of FOUR MILLION – the biggest viewing figure ever for a third-tier game in any country, let alone England.Birmingham co-owner and NFL legend Brady was at that game along with the likes of David Beckham and Gary Neville. Most read in EFLBest new sign-up offersSunSport exclusivesAnd the atmosphere was so electric inside the stadium that even Beckham was blown away by it, saying that he had not experienced such excitement in a stadium for many years. Both clubs are living the American Dream. Tom Brady in hilarious reaction after getting X-rated welcome from Wrexham fans for Birmingham clashReynolds and McElhenney rescued Wrexham five years ago when they were rotting away in the lower reaches of the National League. Now they are on the brink of taking the team into the second tier for the first time in 43 years.Such has been their success, they have inspired some of their Hollywood chums to invest in English football.Their pal, funnyman Will Ferrell has bought a stake in Leeds, Creed movie series star Michael B Jordan was part of a group that bought a stake in Bournemouth while Avengers director Joe Russo has bought into Sheffield United. But Reynolds and McElhenney are far more hands-on and have generated significant funds mainly through their Disney+ series Welcome To Wrexham, which has been a huge success. They have opened doors that even some Premier League clubs would be jealous of.The past two summers, they have embarked on coast-to-coast North America pre-season tours taking on the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Bournemouth where they were treated by the hosts like Prem stars.Ahead of this game Reynolds, McElhenney and Brady have joined forces to help raise money for the Los Angeles Fire Department after their incredibly heroic battle against the wildfires that threatened to engulf the Californian city. The game is being screened at the Cosm Los Angeles Stadium where organisers are hoping for a big turnout. And while Reynolds and McElhenney have attracted global attention for Wrexham, they have endeared themselves to the locals with their generous charity work on these shores. The Hollywood duo have led Wrexham to back-to-back promotionsCredit: GettyBirmingham were relegated at the end of a nightmare seasonCredit: GettyReynolds has a special bond with his players including striker Paul MullinCredit: Instagram @vancityreynoldsThe pair generously donated to Sands UK three years ago when then-Wrexham player Jordan Davies and his partner Kelsey’s son Arthur was stillborn three years ago.And Reynolds auctioned Deadpool-themed gym equipment to raise funds for Your Space – a local organisation that helps children with autism. They have also supported the Institute of Cancer Research. And, touchingly, they donated £10,000 towards a £40,000 crowdfunder to adapt the home of a four-year-old Wrexham fan called Louis, who was born with a rare genetic condition which causes him to have painful leg spasms, limited mobility, epilepsy and cerebral palsy. They are still planning to renovate the Racecourse Ground — which includes the building of a new stand at the Kop end.At Birmingham, the American owners are spending a year righting the wrong of their disastrous first season where they somehow conspired to get the team RELEGATED.Sacking John Eustace while they were in the promotion play-off spots and replacing him with Wayne Rooney proved to be an utter disaster. But they have thrown huge amounts of money at the problem and so far it is working with the team top of the table and five points clear of third with two games in hand. There is a real feel-good factor around the blue noses… and regardless of tonight’s result, Birmingham are surely going to be back in the Championship next season with a clear ambition to get into the Premier League. But how do the owners’ mad worlds compare? When is the Champions League knockout stage draw and when are the play-offs?

THE expanded Champions League has delighted and confused fans in equal abundance this season.More teams and more matches – plus a league table to contend with – have left many fans wondering what exactly is going on.Liverpool are already into the hat for the Champions League Round of 16 draw – but have will have to wait to find out who their opponents areCredit: APThere is just one round of matches to play after Wednesday’s fixtures, with all remaining games set to take place on January 29.But then what? There will be a draw next week – but with some teams already into the knockout phase, it’s not how it was before. Here’s everything you need to know about the Champions League knockout draw and stages. When is the Champions League knockout stage draw? The main draw for the knockout phase takes place on Friday, February 21.However, there is ALSO a draw taking place for the knockout phase play-offs.Under the new league table format, which has 36 teams, the top eight teams in the table are automatically put into the Round of 16 and are seeded. The bottom eight teams are eliminated from European competition, with no move into the Europa League like in previous years. Most read in Champions LeagueThe next 16 teams – those that finished between 9th and 24th – then head into the knockout phase play-offs.The teams that finished 9th to 16th will be seeded and drawn against teams that finished 17th to 24th (unseeded). The draw for that round of games take place on Friday, January 31.While Liverpool have already guaranteed qualification, fellow English sides Arsenal, Aston Villa and Man City still have it all to play for.New Champions League format is a snorefestBy Dan KingUEFA sold the idea of expanding the Champions League from 32 to 36 teams, with each playing eight games instead of six in the opening phase, as a way of creating more competitiveness and excitement. The biggest clubs would have two matches against their peers, rather than having to wait until the knockout stage to meet. The smaller clubs would meet teams of a similar level twice and have a chance of tasting victory that was so hard to achieve if you were the bottom seed in a group of four.Ignoring for a moment the fact that the real motivation was the simple equation of more games = more money, the theory itself already looks flawed.None of the matches between European giants has delivered a compelling contest yet.And why would they? At the start of the long season with more matches in it, why would any team with ambitions to win things in the spring, go out all guns blazing in the autumn?Especially when they know they have six games NOT against big sides to make sure they accrue enough points to qualify at least for the play-off round (and even more games). There is even less jeopardy than before.Read the full column on the Champions League format fail and why everyone – including YOU – needs a rethink. When does the Champions League knockout phase play-offs take place and when is the Round of 16?Teams that finished in the top eight and automatically reached the Round of 16 have a little bit of a wait on their hands. After the final league phase game on January 29, the likes of Liverpool and Barcelona will not play their Champions League last 16 games until March. Those fixtures are scheduled to take place on March 4-5 and 11-12.For the knockout phase play-offs, there is a slightly shorter wait – those two-legged games take on February 11-12 and 18-19. Harry Maguire reveals he sent private message to Joshua Zirkzee after Man Utd star was cheered off vs Newcastle

We are disappointed as a team.”We want to get higher in the Premier League and be challenging at the top end of it.”But this season, ultimately, we have not been good enough.”Zirkzee has been linked with leaving Man Utd for Juventus but it appears he will stay at the Red Devils until at least the end of the season.Man Utd squad transfer verdictSunSport gives its verdict on what Man Utd stars should stay or go in the first phase of Ruben Amorim’s squad rebuild:Andre Onana – StayDespite being guilty of some erratic performances, Andre Onana remains a world-class goalkeeper and United would struggle to find better in the market. The defence has begun to look more solid in recent weeks now Amorim has had time to coach the structure into the team, and hopefully, that will be converted into clean sheets going forward.Noussair Mazraoui – StayThe best signing from the summer window so far, Noussair Mazraoui has proven to be everything Man Utd needed and more.Versatile, reliable and passionate no matter whether he plays at wing-back or centre-back, it is a no-brainer to keep the Moroccan.Leny Yoro – StayAfter a pre-season injury, Leny Yoro has taken some time to bed in but he has shown some superb moments in a Man Utd shirt already like his lung-busting run to block a Liverpool shot in the 2-2 draw at Anfield earlier this month. At the age of 19 he will only get better and while too much expectation should not be thrust on him just yet, the early signs suggest he could be a mainstay in defence for years to come.Harry Maguire – GoThe last time we did this list Harry Maguire was one of our main defensive options to be sold, but since Amorim has come with the back three the England international has barely put a foot wrong. The issue with Maguire is that while he is perfectly suited to a back three, he will be 32 in the summer and has just one year left on his contract, so if a serious offer comes in he should regrettably be sold.Matthijs de Ligt – StayMatthijs de Ligt has been very hit or miss since arriving in the summer. Capable of heroic last-ditch tackles like he did at Arsenal and also capable of some very silly passages of play like his handball against Liverpool. In many ways, the Dutchman seems like a younger version of Maguire and given some more time to bed in he should improve even more.Lisandro Martinez – StayHas really started to grow into the Amorim system in recent games after a very sticky patch of form.He is one of the team’s best progressive passers in the build-up phase and has the dogged mentality this team will need to improve and claw its way up the table.Luke Shaw – GoIt’s been said that one of the best abilities is availability, and that rings incredibly true for Luke Shaw.World class on his day and is clearly still capable of finding those levels, as seen at less than full fitness with England at the Euros. But he is simply not available often enough to warrant keeping.Tyrell Malacia – GoTyrell Malacia is still recovering his match sharpness from his two-year injury layoff, so it is a bit harsh to make a verdict on him so soon. The current concern is that United will need to aggressively recruit specialist left wing-backs in the summer, and Malacia so far has not looked totally comfortable playing there.Manuel Ugarte – StayQuestion marks were being raised about him after his first few games. But under Amorim, Manuel Ugarte has once again become the lynchpin of his midfield. He knows the system inside out and is one of the Premier League’s most proficient ball winners. It would be madness to consider his sale next summer.Kobbie Mainoo – StayDespite reports that Chelsea and Bayern Munich want to sign the 19-year-old, Kobbie Mainoo should be one of the few genuinely untouchable stars at the club and his contract situation needs sorting ASAP.He has quality and aspects to his game not possessed by many other midfielders, and with improvements to the stars around him, he and Ugarte should be able to form an effective partnership for many years to come.Casemiro – GoCasemiro unfortunately seemed to lose his legs going into his second season at Man Utd. And with the 3-4-3 system demanding even more running from him, it is clear he simply does not fit the bill for what the club need going forward. It would also help the club’s financial goals to see him sold due to his massive £375,000-a-week wages being taken off the books.Bruno Fernandes – StayThe club captain, Bruno Fernandes has faced a lot of criticism since taking the armband for his erratic decisions and losing his temper.Yet he remains the best player in the squad by some distance and shows the mentality the squad needs to improve. Besides it’s not like United’s most famous captain of the Premier League era, Roy Keane, was exactly cool-headed.Antony – GoThere’s a definite case to argue that Antony may be the worst pound-for-pound signing in Premier League history, with games too often passing him by and lacking quality when he is involved. That being said, he has improved in a number of brief cameos when featuring as a wing-back under Amorim. But unless there is a plan for him to learn the position and become a specialist he should be moved on.Marcus Rashford – GoIt was not supposed to end like this. Once the darling of Old Trafford and Carrington, Marcus Rashford’s comments admitting he wanted a new challenge were probably the final nail in the coffin for his Man Utd future. There is a classy player in there if he can find the motivation to love his football again. A sale to a rival should be ruled out for fear of exactly that, while a sale overseas should be targeted and pushed by the club.Amad Diallo – StayHas taken a real liking to his role as either the right No.10 in the 3-4-3 or as the right wing-back.Amad Diallo has been one of the team’s best players this season and was rewarded with a new deal as a result.Alejandro Garnacho – GoArguably the trickiest star on the list, Alejandro Garnacho has bags of raw talent to elevate him to being world-class. But recent off-field issues and poor form have doubt cast on his future. If, as reports suggest, a major bid of £60m from the likes of Napoli comes in there will be a tough decision to make. Though it may be the financial situation of the club which ultimately tips the scale.Joshua Zirkzee – GoJoshua Zirkzee has certainly been hit-and-miss at United so far. He has had some games and moments where he has looked very impressive, and others where he is simply not good enough. He has a very unique profile which makes him top drawer in the right system, it is just United will probably never play the right way for him to truly excel.Read our verdict on the full Man Utd squad here. IN his own special way, Luis Diaz (£3.7m) has been Dream Team’s main character this season. The Liverpool winger has amassed 173 points at an average of six per game so far, a total that puts him joint-eighth among midfielders. Many gaffers have gone back and forth with Diaz since the start of the seasonCredit: Dream TeamWith 12 goals and four assists to his name in all competitions, Diaz has been a very useful asset for the majority of the campaign. And yet Dream Team managers can’t make up their minds about him.Incredibly, the Colombia international has been among the top five most transferred-out players for seven of the 21 Gameweeks.Conversely, he’s also been among the five most popular recruits NINE times.THE LUIS DIAZ HOKEY COKEYGW2: n/aGW3: n/aGW4: 1st most transferred IN GW5: 4th most transferred INGW6: 1st most transferred INGW7: n/aGW8: 4th most transferred OUTGW9: 3rd most transferred OUTGW10: 5th most transferred INGW11: 2nd most transferred INGW12: 3rd most transferred INGW13: 3rd most transferred OUTGW14: 2nd most transferred OUTGW15: n/aGW16: 5th most transferred OUTGW17: 3rd most transferred INGW18: 1st most transferred INGW19: 3rd most transferred OUTGW20: 3rd most transferred OUTGW21: 4th most transferred IN (currently)Diaz is often a central figure one way or the otherCredit: ReutersDiaz’s current ownership of 40.5% makes him the fourth most selected player in the game, second among players in his position. But it’s extraordinary how his popularity has fluctuated throughout the season. Most read in Dream TeamOne reason for this is that Mohamed Salah (£8m) is the only guaranteed starter among Liverpool’s attacking assets.Elsewhere in the forward line, Diaz faces competition from Cody Gakpo (£4.8m), Darwin Nunez (£4.3m), Diogo Jota (£4.4m) and Federico Chiesa (£4.2m).As a result, the 28-year-old has completed 90 minutes just seven times out of his 29 appearances.Furthermore, he’s sat out four games entirely and played less than an hour on eight occasions.Gakpo has 12 more points than Diaz ahead of Gameweek 21Credit: ReutersThere are plenty of other midfielders in the same bracket who are more assured of playing time, hence why Diaz has frequently featured among the most transferred-out players. On the plus side, he’s generally made the most of his time on the pitch, averaging a goal involvement every 115.4 minutes – a very healthy rate for someone in his position. At the time of writing, Diaz is once again among the most popular recruits ahead of the Reds’ double header against Ipswich and PSV in Gameweek 21.Arne Slot’s side need just one point against the Eredivisie outfit to ensure they finish top of the Champions League (league phase) table.Liverpool have plenty of fixtures to fulfil in the coming weeksCredit: GettyIn fact, it’s generally a good time to stock up on Liverpool players as they are the only team with SIX fixtures to fulfil across the next three Gameweeks at present.READ MORE SUN STORIESThat being said, it could be argued that Gakpo is now the best accomplice for Salah for gaffers keen on a double up in attack. All together now: you put Diaz in, Diaz out, in, out, in, out, shake it all about…Score PredictorPlay Score Predictor with Dream Team this season!FREE to play£250 weekly prizePredict scores of five selected Premier League fixtures and earn points for accuracyMost points wins weekly cash prizePLAY NOW More

David Brent or motivational genius? Inside the wacky world of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal reign

DEPENDING on who you ask, Mikel Arteta is either a lunatic or a genius.Opposition fans are always ready to ridicule his barmy ideas for keeping his Arsenal players engaged and on the edge.Mikel Arteta is not afraid to use unorthodox methodsCredit: GettyArteta, 42, has been compared with David BrentCredit: HandoutArsenal’s All or Nothing Amazon Prime series first exposed just how unconventional the Gunners boss can be when it comes to getting his players going. But whether you think he looks like a poor David Brent impersonator or not – few can argue with the results.Arteta has transformed Arsenal across his five years at the helm in north London. The club was on its knees when the Spaniard stepped in to replace Unai Emery, but they are now serial and serious title challengers with the whole squad bought into Arteta’s ethos – no matter how quirky.READ MORE IN FOOTBALLFormer captain Granit Xhaka once described his manager as “a freak, but in a positive way.”SunSport runs you through the bizarre and brilliant history of Arteta’s methods…IN THE DRESSING ROOMThe moment that kicked everything off around Arteta’s left-field techniques came in the Emirates dressing room ahead of a derby win over Tottenham.Arteta whipped out a flipchart and started drawing a heart and a brain, symbolising passion and clarity, holding hands with an Arsenal fan behind them. Most read in FootballSUN BINGO GET £50 BONUS & 50 FREE SPINS TODAYArteta has built strong relationships with his playersCredit: AFPHe said: “We have to play with our big hearts.”At the same time, we have to play with a big brain. And these have to work together.”Mikel Arteta looks forward to Arsenal’s Champions league clash with Dinamo ZagrebArteta later revealed that the players were joking about his antics after the game – but accepted any jibes given the ploy had clearly worked. The dressing room has been the scene of some of Arteta’s most famous moments, with the boss brandishing a lightbulb urging his players to “go out there and turn the f***ing light on!”.Arsenal lost 2-1 to Brighton that day.Arteta said: “You win the game it works, you don’t win the game, it doesn’t work.”Ahead of another north London derby victory, the former club captain called on the Arsenal photographer, Stuart MacFarlane to deliver an impassioned team talk.It is not just within the walls of The Emirates where Arteta tries to make a difference. The club also work hard to make their players feel at home on the road, decorating the walls of away changing rooms at opposing team’s grounds with Arsenal crests and colours.Mikel Arteta draws heart and brain holding hands from Amazon documentaryCredit: AMAZON PRIME VIDEOStuart McFarlaneCredit: AMAZON PRIME VIDEOMAD MEETINGSPlayers walking in to one of Arteta’s meetings never know what to expect. In the past they have been tasked with squeezing as much juice out of a lemon as possible – only for Arteta to get a few more drips out to show “there is always more to give.”Arteta flashes up pictures of F1 cars, either on a clear road or crowded out, to demonstrate whether opponents will be sitting deep or leaving space in behind. But easily the most unexpected was during a team meal.Arteta and his coaches secretly hired a team of pick-pockets to go around the table posing as waiters and lift phones and room keys from the unsuspecting Gunners squad. It was meant as a lesson to always be alert and on guard, though was mocked by some former players and current pundits – including Roy Keane.Everyone’s is looking at each other like, ‘What the f**k is this?Oleksandr ZinchenkoDuring a meal ahead of a 3-2 win over Manchester United, Arteta invited a seemingly random waiter to take on Oleksandr Zinchenko during a team lunch. But the ‘waiter’ turned out to be a professional freestyler.Writing in his book, Zinchenko said: “This guy is killing it. He’s basically destroying us. He even nutmegs Bukayo Saka.”Everyone’s is looking at each other like, ‘What the f**k is this? Everyone’s cheering him on and laughing.“Turns out he’s a professional freestyler with millions of followers whom Mikel had planted at the hotel as a waiter.”The mood in the camp was incredible after that.”People were buzzing on the way to the bus. That whole thing really pushed the right buttons.”Arteta even sets his team quizzes on opposition tactics in team meetings and has them playing games such as Pictionary in the build-up to matches. While he has also had the entire squad playing with “hundreds” of large dominoes to show the importance of every piece being in the right place.Oleksandr Zinchenko has lifted the lid on some of Arteta’s methodsCredit: GettyDURING TRAININGArteta has decided not only to annoy his children with some of his musical choices, but his players too. This week the Gunners prepared to face Dinamo Zagreb with some famous Samba hits as their backing track. In a bid to lift the London Colney mood, Arteta blasted out Sergio Mendes’ Mas Que Nada, famous for being used in Nike’s advert featuring the Brazil 1998 World Cup squad.Arteta said: “It happens in all of us. You play a song and immediately you feel different, and we have certain songs that trigger something in our team, because they have some history as well with us.“I will use it when we believe it’s the right way to do it.“Sometimes I play a song many, many times with my family and [the kids] say: ‘Dad, can we stop it, please?’ I don’t know, it’s a feeling.”Belgian forward Leandro Trossard added: “At the start when I joined it was a bit weird for me that we had this, but now it’s just natural for us to have the music playing when we’re warming up.”In the past, Arteta has also played Liverpool’s You’ll Never Walk Alone anthem to prepare his side for a trip to Anfield – which they lost 4-0.There was plenty of stick following that, given Arsenal fell so short on Merseyside, but other sports have taken note too.During practice rounds for January’s Team Cup golf tournament, which featured a host of European Ryder Cup hopefuls, captain Luke Donald made players tee off as speakers blared “U-S-A” chants. It was implemented to prepare the golfers for their Ryder Cup trip to Bethpage Black where they will face a ferocious New York crowd.Arteta had speakers brought into trainingCredit: Amazon Prime Video SportArsenal have been known to train with music onCredit: PAAT LONDON COLNEYIt is at the club’s training base just off the M25 where a lot of Arteta’s changes are most keenly felt. The Gunners boss has planted trees outside his office in order to show the importance of caring for roots and foundations in order for things to flourish and grow.Motivational messages have been plastered across the walls and there is even a new word which has been created around Colney.Arteta has coined the phrase ‘collaboretition’ – collaboration and competition – to try and drive the squad forwards. But the most popular and noticeable change at the training ground is the chocolate Labrador, rather sickeningly named Win.Win was brought in off the back of research which suggested petting a dog can promote a sense of unity.Arteta once said: “She is one of us and will be on our journey.”She changes your mood. You come in the building and she gives all her love. Suddenly you just feel the energy and the players start hugging her, it is beautiful to watch. Those things are very important.”There are things at the club that can be done to connect with people, to show love, and I found this dog was the perfect representative of who we are now.”We all love winning and Win needs a lot of love.”The tricks Arteta employs to give his players an extra edge are no doubt entertaining and baffling, and could easily wear thin if overused.READ MORE SUN STORIESBut even though clips have shown players looking confused and Arteta himself has admitted there have been jokes made at his expense, there is method to the madness. While they may have fallen just short in years gone by, if the Spaniard’s stunts help deliver Arsenal a trophy, players and fans will let him do whatever he likes.Arsenal ratings vs Aston VillaArsenal’s title hopes took a huge hit as they threw away a two-goal lead against Aston VillaLeandro Trossard turned provider for the Gunners to set up both goals as it looked like they would cruise to three points. But defensive lapses from two stars cost Arteta’s side dearly. Here is how SunSport’s Jordan Davies rated the players…DAVID RAYA – 6/10Let down by those in front of him for both goals, a duo of close range efforts he had no chance with.MYLES LEWIS-SKELLY – 8With performances like this, he is suddenly the first name on the team sheet for Arteta. So calm and composed for someone so young, and his strength against bigger opposition is scary at times.GABRIEL – 7Made a crucial tackle one-on-one with Watkins and another block from a speedy counterJURRIEN TIMBER – 7Alert to foil counters against the pace of Watkins and coped well in general. It is not his fault that he doesn’t have the defensive presence of Saliba.THOMAS PARTEY – 6A great stint at right back but one lapse in concentration cost Arsenal the lead, losing track of Watkins in the box before he volleyed in.MIKEL MERINO – 6A workman-like performance – won his duels and worked his socks off, but the small details were missing, shanking a good chance well wide in the first half.He then lost his marker to allow Tielemans to head in and make it 2-1. Could have won it at the end with a scuffed effort in off Havertz that VAR chalked off and smacked the post too.DECLAN RICE – 7Integral to everything good about Arsenal and came close with a long-range punt in the second half.MARTIN ODEGAARD – 6A solid display but he is really missing his partner in crime in Saka. He created as much as he could but sometimes needs to be more selfish to drag his team over the line.LEANDRO TROSSARD – 8Deflected effort was comfortable for Martinez but his superb cross made life much harder for the Villa keeper to tee up Martinelli for the opener before blazing over himself. The Belgian racked up his fifth Prem assist of the season in the second half for Havertz.GABRIEL MARTINELLI – 8Threatened at the far post early on, but got his rewards from the same position in the 35th minute with a stabbed effort ahead of Maatsen.KAI HAVERTZ – 8Again, lack of decent service left him living off scraps, but when he got a scrap he fired an effort straight at Martinez from close range. The German more than made up for it after the break with a clinical finish, even if Martinez should have done better. That will do wonders for his confidence.SUBS:RAHEEM STERLING (MARTINELLI, 82) – 6A few darting runs, but added virtually nothing, other than a needless yellow card. A cameo that screamed “lacking confidence”. More
