Lewis Hamilton claims F1 chiefs are trying to STOP him winning a seventh world title by slowing Mercedes down

LEWIS HAMILTON says Formula One chiefs are deliberately trying to stop his march to a seventh world title.
F1’s governing body – the FIA – are set to ban special electronic modes that turn up the engine to maximum power during qualifying.

And Mercedes star Hamilton, who has a 30-point lead over nearest rival, Red Bull driver Max Verstappen, admitted: “It’s not a surprise.
“It’s obviously to slow us down, they’re always trying to slow us down, but I don’t think it’s going to get the result they want.
“The guys at our team have just done such a good job with the engine. But that’s totally fine if they do it.”
Once dubbed “party mode” by Hamilton’s race engineer, Pete Bonnington, the setting could be outlawed as early as the Belgium GP at the end of the month.

It comes after Mercedes also suffered from a change in tyre pressure regulations in the last two Grands Prix at Silverstone.
Hamilton’s team-mate Valtteri Bottas added: “We are not panicking.
“If the regulation comes then it is the same for everyone. We’ll just take it as it comes.”
Meanwhile, Hamilton’s pet bulldog, Roscoe, has been letting Bottas know he’s Mercedes’ No2 driver.

The curious pooch has been sniffing around Bottas’s motorhome and last weekend at Silverstone left a special deposit for the Finn.

Lewis Hamilton’s bulldog Roscoe POOED on Mercedes team-mate’s Valtteri Bottas’ motorhome at Silverstone, reveals Finn

LEWIS HAMILTON’s pet bulldog, Roscoe, has been letting Valtteri Bottas know he’s Mercedes’ No2 driver.
The curious pooch has been sniffing around Bottas’s motorhome and last weekend at Silverstone left a special deposit for the Finn.

Bottas, who is turd in the championship – sorry, third – said he did not offer the dog any meat as like Hamilton he is on a strict plant-based diet.
He said: “Lewis and I have actually been neighbours the last few weeks and Roscoe dropped a big turd right outside my door last Saturday.
“I was doing some barbecues in the evenings and Roscoe always came to smell it, but I never gave anything to him.”
Hamilton replied: “I don’t believe that because he did some real stinky stuff after that!”

The Brit ace, 35, revealed he has been staying in his plush motorhome for this season’s F1 races as he tries to minimise the risks of catching Covid-19.
He stays at the racetracks in his motorhome with Roscoe and his performance coach, Angella Cullen.
And Hamilton says his pad features a special space that he uses as a mini-recording studio for when he is away from home.

    2

He added: “The motorhome expands out and I have my own room and my own section. I have my recording kit I take with me, so I can do music.

“I have my PlayStation and I like to play online. Last weekend I played against Pierre Gasly and we played Call Of Duty together.
“Other times I watch movies. I have physio in the evenings and usually Roscoe goes second.
“I don’t hang with anybody, particularly during these times.
“Perhaps last year, if you were in a campsite with everyone, you might have had a barbecue together.”
Meanwhile, Bottas, who stays in a motorhome with his girlfriend, Aussie cyclist, Tiffany Cromwell, added: “I really like it, it’s like camping.
“In European races I always used to stay in hotels but for the future I think I’ll keep the motorhome.
“That’s what I used to do back in karting, so I have some good memories.
“Obviously it’s a bit different now, but I’m really enjoying it, staying in the motorhome with my girlfriend.

Sergio Perez claims he was ‘unlucky’ to get coronavirus despite jetting off on holiday AND home to Mexico

SERGIO PEREZ claims he was simply unlucky to catch Covid-19 – despite going on holiday AND jetting back to Mexico in the middle of the global pandemic.
The Racing Point driver has been given the all-clear to race in this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix after being ruled out for the two races at Silverstone.

Perez said: “Anything I did after the Hungrian GP was done between the lines.
“I hadn’t done anything different to the rest of the paddock, so I was just the unlucky one to get it.
“But I am not willing to take any blame for it, because anyone can get it. I was just the unlucky one.”

Key workers were brought together to celebrate F1’s 70th anniversary at a drive-in cinema

KEY WORKERS were able to celebrate Formula One’s 70th anniversary together but in a socially distanced way.
Healthcare workers were brought together by Heineken to watch the iconic race at a drive-in cinema at Mercedes World.

Key workers were brought together to celebrate the 70th anniversary
Fans watched on and enjoyed the action from their cars as Max Verstappen pulled off a shock victory at Silverstone.
F1 star David Coulthard said: “It’s absolutely brilliant.
“After a tough couple of months it’s great to see Heineken offering to give back to our UK healthcare works.
“And what better occasion than F1’s 70th Anniversary race at the home of British motorsport.

“This year is obviously an exception, but every year thousands descend on Silverstone for the British GP.

    2

Healthcare workers were served free food and drink throughout the day
“Motorsport holds a really special place in the hearts of the British I think and Silverstone is certainly a part of that.
“Having raced at Silverstone over many years and won two British Grands Prix at this historic circuit, it certainly holds a special place in my heart.”
Silverstone has been branded as the Lords and Wimbledon of the F1 world and Coulthard says it’s F1 heritage makes the circuit special.

He added: “The UK has such great heritage in motorsport, so there are plenty of circuits that have that status here.
“But as home of the British Grand Prix in Formula 1 there is definitely a certain eminence to it.”

Lewis Hamilton calls on broadcasters to help support F1’s anti-racism message and believes ‘society is just so behind’

LEWIS HAMILTON has called on broadcasters to help support F1’s anti-racism message.
The world champion has used his social media to speak out against racism while the sport has launched its own ‘end racism’ and ‘we race as one’ initiatives.

Hamilton has taken a knee before all five races this season with other drivers to send a message that the sport is against racism but he says more needs to be done.
And in an interview with Sky F1, Hamilton says broadcasters can help with educating the wider public on diversity and race.
He said: “One thing I’m really proud of with my team is that we’ve obviously made the step and a statement with our car.
“But these past couple of weeks, they’ve found a company that is doing diversity inclusion training, so I went and had a session with them.

“It’s incredible, because I’m open to learning – I’m not perfect – and so just learning what is right.
“I feel that the whole of society is just so behind and the things people were saying back when I was at school about so many different races, you look back and you think ‘oh my god that was terrible back then’.
“But it is still evidently there and it’s how can we change it?
“As a sport, we have this platform, we have these people that tune in and watch and yes it’s supposed to be an entertaining experience.

The F1 world champion wants to build a summer house in the garden of his £18million property
His plans have sparked letters of objection from neighbours who hope to slam the brakes on construction.
One claims: “It certainly does not need another house at the rear of its garden, which, if the owner ever does move in, will no doubt be used as a ‘party house’ away from the main residence, due to the nature of his lifestyle.”
Another says his West London home, bought in 2017, “has remained empty to this day” and permission is being sought “to (again) ‘dress up’ an investment for capital gain”.
A third fears healthy trees will be taken down “to create room for the works”.

Previous plans for the summer house were withdrawn after artist neighbours complained it would reduce the natural light they needed to work.
