FORMULA ONE icon Gerhard Berger believes George Russell will soon get on team-mate Lewis Hamilton’s nerves following his impressive start to his Mercedes career.The 24-year-old has shown his quality just four races into his first season with the Silver Arrows.

Russell, who finished on the podium at the Australian Grand Prix, sits fourth in the F1 standings ahead of Sunday’s Miami GP.
Hamilton meanwhile is languishing in seventh spot after coming home in 13th in the recent Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
He is already 19 points behind Russell, who has backed the 37-year-old to “come back stronger” in future races.
But despite the good relationship between the two, ex-F1 driver Berger has stated Hamilton will soon become irritated if he keeps finishing behind his British compatriot.

“Russell was one of the outstanding drivers at Imola.

Berger also stated that he can see Hamilton retiring next year should he fail to claim a record eighth world championship.

He added: “Lewis is driven by the desire to become the sole record champion.
“The title that slipped through his fingers against Verstappen last year was perhaps the last chance to be the sole record world champion.

It was his worst result of the year so far, but the seven-time World Champion was left even more disheartened as he was LAPPED by Max Verstappen, who then went on to win the race, on the 41st lap.
But, Max’s father Jos has made it clear that he does not sympathise with Hamilton whatsoever.

Hamilton even admitted defeat last week following his performance in Imola.
After the race, he said: “It’s been difficult, but I don’t really know what to say. It’s definitely not easy.
“I am out of the championship, and there’s no question about that.
“But I’ll still keep working as hard as I can, to try and pull it back together somehow.

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff was heard apologising to the 37-year-old driver about the car after the race, which saw team-mate George Russell finish way ahead in fourth place.
Wolff told Hamilton: “Sorry for what you have needed to drive today. I know this is undriveable and not what we deserve to score as a result.

But Rosberg claims Wolff’s apology should be taken with a pinch of salt as it looked more like the team were trying to keep Hamilton’s spirits up.
The German star suggested the car shouldn’t be blamed, and Russell’s much more impressive finish proves it.
Rosberg told Sky Sports: “Toto was playing the mental game, which is very smart on his behalf.

Seven-time world champion Hamilton has been plagued by car issues this season, and was LAPPED way down in 13th at last weekend’s Emilia Romagna GP.
