LEWIS HAMILTON has been dealt another blow by Formula 1 chief Helmut Marko.Last month the outspoken German incredibly claimed Hamilton should have RETIRED after the Abu Dhabi controversy that saw him denied the F1 title.

Now Marko has written off Hamilton’s title chances this season saying he is some way off his big rivals – but reckons compatriot Lando Norris could make a charge.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc leads the standings, four clear of defending champ Max Verstappen.
Speaking to Auto Motor Sport, Marko, 79, said: “The only driver I see coming into this battle in terms of talent is [Lando] Norris.
“But he doesn’t have the best material at the moment.”

Hamilton has himself admitted that he’s out of the Championship race already after his dismal 13th place finish at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
To make things worse, the seven-time world champion was LAPPED by bitter rival Max Verstappen in Imola.
Hamilton’s poor performance has left him languishing 58 points behind leader Charles Leclerc in the driver standings.
There were rumblings that Hamilton was set to retire after he was essentially robbed of his eighth world title in the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi.

Things have not got better for seven-time title winner Hamilton this season as it went from bad to worse ten days ago at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix when he finished 13th in Imola.
It was his worst result of the year so far, but the seven-time world champion was left even more disheartened as he was LAPPED by Verstappen, who then went on to win the race, on the 41st lap.
Now Hamilton must have thought he was having further salt rubbed in his wounds after EA Sports released their front cover for the F1 22 console game.
And even Verstappen must have been a little irked after he was also left off.

And he is joined there by McLaren’s Lando Norris and fellow Brit and Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate George Russell.

Verstappen pipped the Brit to the post by a matter of seconds to clinch it in a controversial season finale.
However, this year has been a completely different story.
Hamilton even admitted defeat following his performance in Imola.
After the race, he said: “It’s been difficult, but I don’t really know what to say. It’s definitely not easy.
“I am out of the championship, and there’s no question about that. But I’ll still keep working as hard as I can, to try and pull it back together somehow.
“It has been a weekend to forget for sure.”

Rosberg explained: “Even if you’re 11th or 13th he really passionately hates coming in behind his team-mate.
“It makes him very angry.
“That also happened at Imola in qualifying and the sprint race…
“It will put the tension up a lot, especially in the engineering room where Lewis will be pushing harder and harder.

Ferrari, who Brooks raced for in his best season in 1959, said in a statement: “We pay homage to Tony Brooks, a fantastic driver who contributed to our legacy.

And he opened up on carrying that responsibility and the difficulty it poses as he appeared on American TV.
Hamilton told Good Morning America ahead of Sunday’s Grand Prix in Miami: “It’s been genuinely quite a lonely journey.
“Me and my family were the only black family. I’ve been racing 29 years, I’m 37 now.

Hamilton led the drivers in taking the knee and regularly spoke up asking for more inclusion in the sport for black people.
After noticing the stark reality once again in 2019 after winning the title, Hamilton helped set up the Hamilton Commission to “address the underrepresentation of Black people in UK motorsport”.
The Stevenage star added on GMA: “And when I asked the question there was no real great feedback answer to that question, so I put together the Hamilton Commission because it starts with education and understanding.

“We put together this body of research to try and understand what those barriers are.
“We found there are not only in our industry, where we have over 40,000 jobs but only one per cent come from black backgrounds, but there are real systemic issues within the educational system as well. 
“With the Hamilton Commission, we’ve now started ‘Mission 44′ which I’ve funded myself to try and create more representation, support and empowerment for these young under-served groups.”
On the track, Hamilton missed out on his eighth world title in heart-wrenching fashion in Abu Dhabi in December.
And he had endured a rough start to the new 2022 season in his under-performing Mercedes car.
