He has consistently been racking up points in each race, unlike his team-mate Lewis Hamilton, who is still struggling to get to grips with the car.
And Villeneuve believes this could spark a huge change in the team dynamics.

“It’s going to be a tough fight, but Lewis is a racer and a champion. He knows what needs to be done and we’ll see if he still has the energy to do it.

But the FIA have ordered Hamilton to remove ALL piercings by the time he races in Monaco at the end of May, in order to comply with safety regulations.
Hamilton has abided by rules in taking out his earrings but his nose stud remains an issue as it cannot be removed easily, and Kravitz believes that could spark a nasty conflict between the Brit and the FIA.
He said on Sky Sports’ Ted’s Notebook: “He’s taken his earrings out but he can’t take out his nose [stud] and we thought he was going to have minor surgery to take out the nose [stud].
“Hamilton’s now saying, having been given two races’ grace, here (Miami) and in Barcelona, that he will not take out his nose [stud].

Hamilton has defied the rules so far this season and is adamant the FIA is wrong about jewellery being a safety hazard.
The Mercedes star was granted a two-race medical exemption at Miami and Barcelona as some of his piercings cannot easily be taken out.
But by the time the Monaco GP rolls around at the end of the month Hamilton must be bling free – or face the consequences.
If found to be in breach of the rules once again Hamilton could incur a big fine or be given penalty points by the FIA.
