Fuming Vettel storms out of meeting with F1 drivers and bosses after becoming annoyed with Alonso’s moaning

FURIOUS Sebastian Vettel stormed out of a meeting with fellow F1 drivers and FIA bosses – earning himself a suspended €25,000 (£21,000) fine.The German, who has been outspoken on the sport, particularly with the environmental consequences, is increasingly running a tightrope of controversy.

He was asked not to wear a controversial t-shirt on the grid in Canada regarding mining tar sands in the country.
He also pulled a t-shirt stunt at the Miami GP.
While Vettel’s latest outburst came in frustration at hearing Fernando Alonso complaining about penalties he received from the stewards TWO MONTHS ago.
The FIA’s statement said the four-time world champion failed to act as a role model.

Norris calmly responded: “It’s smoking from underneath my seat mate so I’d rather get out alright.”
He was then escorted away from the track on the back of a moped, with Sky Sports F1’s Twitter account likening the scene to something from a Rom Com.
Thankfully he came out of the incident unscathed, although Sky Sports’ Ted Kravitz did later report that Norris clutched his bum and said: “Ooh that was a bit hot on my bottom.”
Kravitz then added: “So Lando’s bum health report, it’s okay. I tried to make that as serious as I could.”

Max Verstappen pocketed eight points for winning today’s sprint, with Ferrari rivals Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz coming in second and third.
Britain’s George Russell came fourth in his Mercedes, while his team-mate Lewis Hamilton collected one point for coming eighth.

Max Verstappen secures pole for Austrian Grand Prix with Lewis Hamilton down in eighth after dramatic sprint race

MAX VERSTAPPEN eased to victory in the Austrian GP sprint race ahead of the main event tomorrow – while Lewis Hamilton claimed a solitary point for finishing eighth. Dutch world champ Verstappen converted his pole but was helped by Ferrari teammates Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz scrapping for second behind him.

Hamilton was involved in a crash in qualifying yesterday that meant he started ninth on the grid.
A dramatic start saw him caught in a tangle with Pierre Gasly early on, with the AlphaTauri driver sent spinning after making contact with Hamilton.
But the Brit recovered well and piled the pressure on the Haas’ of Mick Schumacher and Kevin Magnussen for almost the entirety of the 23-lap sprint.
The Haas duo did a good job of frustrating Hamilton, with Schumacher benefitting from DRS off Magnussen in front of him to stay ahead of Hamilton.
Finally on lap 22 out of 23 the pressure paid off, and Hamilton snuck past Schumacher to take eighth and the final points position.
There was plenty of drama ahead of tomorrow’s race, with Fernando Alonso failing to start after his Alpine team left the tyre covers on his car ahead of the formation lap.
Zhou Guanyu was also forced to start from the pitlane after encountering a problem on the formation lap.
Verstappen though never looked in danger of giving up first after getting away from the Ferrari’s well and scooped eight points, as well as securing first on the grid tomorrow.

Leclerc came home second ahead of Sainz, with Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate George Russell fourth.
Sergio Perez (Red Bull) had a storming sprin to come from 13th to fifth, ahead of Esteban Ocon (Alpine) in sixth and Magnussen in seventh.

F1 Austrian Grand Prix sprint race LIVE RESULTS: Verstappen leads, Hamilton battles in 10th whilst Gasly CRASHES

F1 is in Austria as Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc are continuing their battle for the world championship.Meanwhile Lewis Hamilton will look to have his say after an encouraging third place finish at last week’s British Grand Prix.
But things didn’t go to plan for him in Friday’s qualifying as he finished tenth after a crash.
Carlos Sainz is also looking to string a run of wins together after reinvigorating his season at the British Grand Prix.
However it is not yet known what state of mind he will be in after his dad suffered a brutal rally driving crash just days after watching him emerge victorious at Silverstone.

Good drive from Perez
He started 13th and finished in fifth. A soild drive for the Mexican.
Leclerc is second, Sainz third.
A two-three finish for Ferrari while Russell comes home in fourth.
Perez, Ocon, Magnussen and Hamilton make up the top eight.
Max Verstappen wins the sprint race
The Dutchman was untroubled from pole and wins the sprint race. He gets another eight points added to his tally where he already sits at the top of the championship.
He will start on pole in tomorrow’s race too.
That was all too easy for him.

Vettel meanwhile has been told to retire the car due to car damage.

Verstappen leads by 2.5 seconds. Leclerc is second and Sainz in third.
Behind them are Russell, Perez, Ocon, Magnussen and Schumacher.
Latifi clips Vettel, who spins
The German is in the gravel after making contact with the Williams.
Vettel has managed to get going again and is back in the race, but he is down in 19th place.
Perez passes Schumacher
The Red Bull man makes a great move at turn three to get past the Haas man.
And now Perez has got past Magnussen. That is two passes for Perez, who had his lap times deleted yesterday.
Racing between the Ferraris
Leclerc and Sainz are trading places but for the time being it is Leclerc ahead.
Verstappen is now almost three seconds ahead as they squabble behind him.
Norris runs over the kerbs
He bumps over the sausage kerbs which is bound to have caused problems with the floor of his car.
Good start for Verstappen
The Dutchman leads into turn one as Leclerc moves into second place ahead of Sainz.
Further back Hamilton clips Gasly and sends him into a spin. The stewards are looking at the incident and could take action against the Mercedes man.
Zhou is back in the pitlane
He will start from there along with Alonso
Zhou has a problem
Aborted start as Zhou has conked out on the way to the gird at the very last corner.
Bad news for the Chinese driver who had that HUGE crash at Silverstone.
The cars are now completing another formation lap while Zhou’s Alfa Romeo is moved out of the way.
Alonso will now start from the pitlane and the race will now be 23 laps.

He will be at the back, if he gets out at all.

But only 19 cars get away and are snaking their way around the Red Bull Ring.
Alonso’s Alpine is stationary and curiously still has the tyre blankets on.
He could be demoted to the back of the grid.
Sensational setting
The grandstands are all full with orange shirts, the flares are lit and the atmosphere is building.
The DJ decks have been cleared from the gird and it is almost time for the second sprint race of the season.

Red Bull pair get tips
Red Bull pair Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have been given some tips going into the final sprint race.
The race is just moments away, and team chief Helmut Marko told the duo, via Sky Germany: “It will be very, very exciting on Saturday.
“Drive without mistakes and keep the tyres alive.”
Norris reveals bizarre race strategy
Lando Norris has revealed his unique strategy to gain a competitive edge in the final sprint race.
McLaren ace Norris heads into the race in the 15th position.
Red Bull star Sergio Perez is slightly ahead of Norris in 13th spot on the grid.
Perez lost his spot in fourth due to track limits infringements which have pushed him down to 16th.
And Norris plans to tie himself to Perez to improve his final standing.
He said: “I’ve got a rope, I’m attaching it to Perez who’s in front of me, and I’ll follow him the whole way. It’s as simple as that!”

Max Verstappen takes pole position going into the final sprint race of the day.
The Red Bull driver is followed by Ferrari ace Charles Leclerc who occupies second spot on the grid.
His Ferrari compatriot Carlos Sainz takes third position on the line-up.
Mercedes pair gear up for race
Mercedes pair Lewis Hamilton and George Russell have a mountain to climb going into this afternoon’s sprint race.
Russell starts the race in P4, while Hamilton begins in P9.
It comes after both drivers crashed in FP2.
Ecclestone issues war apology
Bernie Ecclestone has apologised if he offended anybody by appearing to support Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Russia.
Ecclestone insisted that he didn’t mean any harm by his comments, and apologised if he did as he empathizes with the people from Ukraine.
He said: “I think often people come out and say things or do things without really too much thinking.
“Probably I did the same. I can understand people thinking I’m defending what he’s done in Ukraine, which I don’t.
“I feel sorry for the people in Ukraine having to suffer for something they haven’t done,” Ecclestone went on to say. “They’ve done nothing wrong. They didn’t start anything. They want to get on with their lives.
“So they don’t deserve to have to suffer.
“It’s not good for anybody. I can’t see anybody getting anything out of this and I think they should get together and get an agreement.
“And I’m sorry if anything I’ve said has upset anybody because it certainly wasn’t intended.”
Leclerc rift dismissed by Ferrari
Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto has dismissed reports suggesting he and Charles Leclerc had a rift.
He said: “I meet the drivers after each race and have a discussion to review the race situation.
“Charles was in Monaco and in the back-to-back [races], it was the best opportunity for me to meet him, simply to go there.
“We had dinner, we were laughing together reading the newspapers because we knew that [what was being written] was completely wrong.
“He was very happy to meet and discuss, move forward, and be constructive on some of the scenarios and the best chance for us to be strong in the following races.”
Hamilton takes crash responsibilty
Lewis Hamilton has taken responsibility for his crash during qualifying.
Hamilton was doing well before he crashed into a tyre wall, and he apologised on the team radio saying: “I’m incredibly disappointed in myself ultimately and so sorry to the team.
“Everyone worked so hard to put the car together – and I never like to bring it back damaged. I don’t have an answer right now to what happened. I lost the back end in turn seven and that was that. I was encouraged to see our performance, though.
“I think we were fighting for a top three start – and we weren’t expecting to be that close. That’s a huge positive for the team. I’m starting quite far back, and I’m not sure what’s possible from there. We have the Sprint as well as the race on Sunday – hopefully I can make up for some lost time.”

The Dutchman would know a thing or two about high-speed, dangerous crashes.
At last season’s British Grand Prix, he was sent hurling into the safety barrier after a collision with seven-time world champion and title rival at the time, Lewis Hamilton.
At Monza, the pair came together again which resulted in Verstappen’s Red Bull parking on top of Hamilton’s Mercedes with the halo technology saving the Brit’s life.
Speaking to LADbible, the Dutchman said on a salary cap: “For me, it’s insane because it’s not only hurting us in F1, but nowadays, so many drivers are either backed by an F1 team or by personal sponsors who are investing in these young drivers’ careers, but of course, they also expect a return, or at least a percentage of their future income.

“But if you start to cap their future income, they’re not that interested in supporting them throughout all the categories.

FUN-LOVING motor racing icon Sir Stirling Moss left £20million in his will and told pals: “Enjoy a few nights out.”The Formula One legend, who died in 2020 aged 90, gave the order among a string of big-hearted legacies to 18 of his nearest and dearest.

The gifts included £1,000 handed to a couple to spend on dinner at Miami, Florida, restaurant Joe’s Stone Crab.
And he dished out his favourite paintings, model cars and even a lucky silver rabbit’s foot to others.
He left the bulk of his fortune to his wife since 1980 Lady Susie, plus daughter Allison and son Elliot.
Probate office figures showed the star, who lived in Mayfair, central London, left £22.08m in his will but this did not include US assets.

The daring racing style of Sir Stirling, who won 16 of 66 F1 races from 1951 to 1961, led speeding motorists when stopped by police to be asked: “Who do you think you are, Stirling Moss?”

She paid tribute, saying: “It was one lap too many.
“He died as he lived, looking wonderful.

The reigning F1 champion was asked a series of questions regarding his opponents and he didn’t hold back on what he thought about his biggest foe.
The Dutchman was asked to name the sport’s “biggest show off” and he ticked Hamilton’s name.
The 24-year-old also answered several other categories as he named Daniel Ricciardo as the best comedian and driver who likes Dutch food the most.
Verstappen named Valtteri Bottas as the fastest cyclist and Thai-British star Alex Albon as the most surprising result.

But Verstappen’s answer about Hamilton is what seems to have made the biggest impact.
The two men’s rivalry hit boiling point last season following the Dutchman’s controversial victory over the British superstar at the title-deciding Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

But the entire season between the pair had been turbulent, with a fiery rivalry threatening to get nasty after a collision in Monza saw Verstappen’s car land on top of Hamilton’s.
And there were even ‘brake-testing’ allegations as F1’s latest rivalry took centre stage, with Hamilton now ready to win back his crown.

Both boast luxury properties, they have amazing car collections, and a mutual love of animals.
THE HOMES
For much of the year, Verstappen, who has a £44million fortune at the age of just 24, lives in a £13m penthouse in Monte Carlo, which he is said to rent.
The Dutch driver’s home is in the same apartment block as Felipe Massa and Daniel Ricciardo.
Not much is known about its size, but Verstappen regularly shares his workouts on the vast balcony that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea.

Hamilton, believed to have around £280m in the bank, also has a Monaco pad in the exclusive Fontvieille district.
But he is planning to move back to London permanently when work is completed on his stunning £18m six bedroom villa.
Back in 2019, Hamilton splashed £32m on a New York apartment in a condo project part-owned by NFL great Tom Brady and his model wife Gisele Bundchen.
The 6,547 square-foot penthouse includes a huge outdoor area and has views of the Hudson River, as well as a swimming pool, fitness centre, squash court, library and wine cellar.
Neighbours include Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence and Austin Powers star Mike Myers.

CARS
With their mega pay packets and love of cars, it’s no surprise that Hamilton and Verstappen have an impressive fleet of motors.
Today, Lewis is more eco-friendly and has moved to driving electric vehicles, including an £80,000 Mercedes EQS.
But in the past, he has been seen behind the wheels of a Pagani Zonda worth £1.5m, cruising along the Pacific Coast Highway in a £4m 1966 Shelby 427 Cobra, and parked outside a restaurant in a £2m LaFerrari.
He’s also got a Mercedes AMG Project One on order, that’ll cost north of £2.5m.
Verstappen has a love of British motors, prominently Aston Martin.
He has their concept super car, the £2m Valkyrie on order and due to be received this year.
In the past, he’s been spotted driving a DB11 (£150,000) and DBS Superleggera (£225,000).
But when he feels the need for speed, he has a £1.5m Ferrari Monza to drive, as well as a Renault R.S. 01 worth around £300,000 that can hit 186 mph.
Both, of course, have access to private jets.

GIRLFRIENDS
Rich, successful, and living life in the fast lane, Hamilton and Verstappen will always be an attractive proposition.
Lewis’s lovelife has been played out in front of the media since he exploded on to the scene.
His most famous relationship was with Pussycat Doll singer Nicole Scherzinger, who he dated on/off until 2015.
In recent years, he’s been linked with Barbara Palvin, Winnie Harlow, Kendall Jenner, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Rita Ora.
Verstappen, on the other hand, dates 33-year-old Brazilian model Kelly Piquet.
She used to see Russian racing driver Daniil Kvyat’s girlfriend, and they welcomed a daughter in 2019.

PETS
When it comes to animals, Verstappen and Hamilton have a common ground.
Lewis has a pampered pooch, English bulldog Roscoe who rides on private jets with him and is often seen at various Grand Prixs.
Sadly, he lost his other bulldog Coco in 2020, after the canine suffered a heart attack and passed away in his arms.
Verstappen too suffered heartbreak when his dog Spyke died aged 11, sharing a snap on Instagram of his beloved pet.
Animal lover Max also has adopted some cats, which sometimes travel with him.

THRILL-SEEKING
When you drive a racing car for a job, that exhilaration needs to be found elsewhere.
Hamilton and Verstappen are thrill-seekers, taking on hobbies to fuel their need for an adrenaline rush.
Over the last couple of years, the seven-time world champion, who has a penchant for firing rifles at a gun range, has been learning how to sky dive.
He even shared his exploits on Instagram, hurtling through the sky from a small plane.
Verstappen wasn’t amused, though, declaring he wouldn’t be doing the same when asked in a press conference his thoughts on Lewis’s new talent.
However, on sea he is game to zoom around on a jet-ski.
Perhaps, when he can boast multiple F1 championship wins, he’ll be more daring.
