John told FreeBets.com: “What it was, I said let’s move on from it because I believed it was a 50-50 thing with a fair split.
“But Tommy said to me, ‘Dad I want to fight this man, it is not about the money I have had enough of him. As long as they pay me somewhere near what is acceptable, let’s get this deal done’.

Traumatic story of English boxer who went through phantom pregnancy and gained one-and-a-half stone after going on pill

A FEMALE boxer has told of how she endured a ‘phantom pregnancy’ and gained one-and-a-half stone in three months after taking contraceptive pills.English brawler Kate McLaren, who fights out of Sydney, Australia, got into boxing last year after a messy break-up.

But after having her period on the night of her first fight, McLaren decided to go on the pill.
The 32-year-old told News.com.au: “I fell out of love with food and I couldn’t bring myself to eat. And mentally I thought I was a big girl and I thought that I’d been dumped because I was bigger and tall.
“So I then got into boxing, for my first fight, but on the night of the fight, I ended up getting my monthly cycle. And that basically put me into shock and I was like, ‘I’m about to go and perform and this has come’.
“Obviously I knew prior to it, ‘I think I’m due’ because I was feeling heavier. And then that came on the night of that and I was like, ‘This is an absolute disaster’.”
    READ MORE IN BOXING
“After that fight I spoke to my mum and she said, ‘Look, if you’re going to pursue your boxing career, you need to be in control of knowing when your weight is going to fluctuate, when your cycle is going to be, if it’s on the fight night that is something you’ve got to take into consideration’.
“Also I was very, very insecure about my skin. She said ‘If you go on the contraceptive pill, it will clear up all of your skin’. So that was what originally made me go on the contraceptive pill.”
However, she then found herself unable to stop eating after previously falling out of love with food.
And McLaren ended up piling up one-and-a-half stone in just three months.
    Most read in Boxing
She explained: “I went to the doctor, ended up on Diane-35 and all of the insecurities and worries about eating food completely disappeared, and I went in the complete opposite end of the spectrum to the point where I was uncontrollable, I could not stop eating.
“I didn’t have my next fight lined up then, so I just was uncontrollable and I ate and ate and ate, and trained a little bit, and ate, to the point where then I couldn’t get into any of my clothes.
“But mentally I was loving food so much because there were flavours and things I’d completely deprived myself of.”
    PHANTOM PREGNANCY
It turned out McLaren had experienced a “phantom pregnancy”.
But after coming off the contraceptive pill, she has since lost the weight and is loving boxing again.
She added: “I get to an appointment with the doctor and I said, ‘The doctor put me on this three months ago, I’m now 10 and a bit kilos heavier, do you think it’s down to the pill?’ And she said, ‘Yeah, most likely’.
“What can happen with the pill is sometimes your body can go into like a phantom pregnancy where your body thinks that you’re pregnant, your hormones are running around all over the place.
“So she put me onto a pill called Yasmin, and that pill has worked really, really well for me, it is the pill I’m still on at the moment.
“And the weight just came off. She said to me, ‘I’m pretty sure all the cravings are going to stop and the weight will just fall off of you and you’ll go back to normal weight’. That’s exactly what happened.” More

But it looks as though Saudi Arabia is now out of the question with Wembley on April 29 the new frontrunner.
It means both will have to accept pay cuts while Usyk, 36, faces conceding the lion’s share and home advanatage.
Although ever the superstar, Fury, 34, is not exactly in shortage of potential backup options and here SunSport runs down the best of the bunch.

And he has flirted with an unprecedented hybrid bout against Fury, under boxing rules, with 4oz gloves in the cage.
Promoter Frank Warren remains hopeful the Usyk fight will be agreed but confirmed Ngannou is an alternative.
He told SecondsOut: “That’s an option that Tyson’s mentioned to me if this fight falls through. But, I don’t think it will fall through.”

    Joe Joyce
Joyce, 37, is the WBO mandatory challenger for Usyk’s belt and in line to challenge the winner of the undisputed fight.
And sharing the same promoter in Warren, the Hall of Famer wants Fury to face Joyce in the summer at Wembley.
But if talks with Usyk hit a dead end, Joyce could be eyed as the backup alternative for Fury’s stadium return.
Joyce first returns on April 15 against Zhilei Zhang, 39, but would be ready to challenge for the title in the summer.

    Deontay Wilder
Wilder has shared one of the most epic rivalries with Fury in heavyweight history, drawing their first but losing the two rematches.
And they could be made to do it all over again with Wilder, 37, highly ranked within the WBC.
He has been ordered into a final eliminator bout against Andy Ruiz Jr, 33, to determine the next in line for Fury’s belt.
But with the two teams familiar business partners, a shock deal could be struck to get a fourth fight on.

And the stakes have been raised for Paul after the WBC announced he will earn a world ranking should he win.
A statement read: “WBC President, Mauricio Sulaiman, confirms that if Jake Paul wins his upcoming bout against Tommy Fury, The WBC ratings committee will rank him in the Cruiserweight division.”
For any contender to contest for a WBC title, they would need to be ranked within the governing body.
Meaning, should he beat Fury and be placed in the ratings, it clears his path to a shot at the world championship.

Paul, 26, is 6-0 since turning professional in 2020, but is yet to face a recognised boxer.
Fury, 23, will be his first, causing outrage over his potential WBC ranking.
When 13-1 heavyweight Hasim Rahman Jr, 31, replaced the Brit in August, the WBC confirmed a win would earn Paul a ranking.
But the fight got cancelled on just a week notice due to a weight disagreement.

Paul instead went onto beat UFC legend Anderson Silva, 47, in October, his biggest win to date.
The YouTuber-turned boxer was rewarded a made up WBC “amateur” belt for his white collar win over KSI’s brother Deji in 2018.
And he has maintained a good relationship ever since with WBC boss Sulaiman.
He said: “Jake Paul has been close to The WBC for several years, starting with the first event promoted in the UK when his brother, Logan, fought KSI; On that night Jake won The WBC amateur belt in the undercard fights.
“Jake has dedication and respect to the sport and The WBC will not tolerate discrimination against anyone, he deserves the opportunities that any other boxer has.
“He demonstrated punching power and improved skills as well as a solid chin, Tommy Fury represents a clear challenge to Paul in a battle of two undefeated professional boxers.
“Jake has enrolled in VADA testing Clean Boxing Program, yet another strong reason to support his stance as a boxer.”
