Inside Jake Paul’s stunning body transformation from skinny Disney star to unbeaten boxer ahead of Tommy Fury fight

JAKE PAUL has gone from skinny Disney star to cruiserweight boxing contender in the short space of under six years. The American starred in two series of TV show Bizaardvark, first airing on 2017 after shooting to fame on social media app Vine.
Jake Paul was much skinnier during his Disney Channel days
Jake Paul shot to fame on social media app Vine
The American began boxing in 2018
And after a successful career as one of the biggest YouTubers in the world, in 2018 Paul began his boxing journey.
Now after nearly five years and just six professional bouts, he is one of the richest fighters on the planet.
In 2021, he was behind only Tyson Fury, 34, and Canelo Alvarez, 32, in the list of highest-paid boxers.
And next Sunday, in Saudi Arabia, he faces Fury’s younger brother Tommy in their rescheduled celebrity grudge match.

The eight-round pay-per-view bout is scheduled for 185lb or 13st 2lb, the lightest weight in Paul’s career.
He has largely campaigned at 190lb, 13st 7lb, while following a gruelling training regime.
Paul, 26, was a high-school wrestler, so has always maintained a good physique even during his days on the small screen.
But he has conditioned himself into fighting shape now, packing on the muscle.

Paul has beaten ex-MMA champions in Ben Askren, 38, Tyron Woodley, 40, and Anderson Silva, 47.
But Tommy, 23, will be the first opponent he has faced with a recognised boxing record.
And the stakes have been raised after the WBC announced Paul will receive a world ranking if he wins.
A ranking within the organisation would pave the way for him to sensationally challenge for a championship title.
It means Paul could very well complete his transition from children’s TV actor to world title challenger.

It took fans a while to clock who this former British super-middleweight was – given his change of hairstyle from his fighting days.
They certainly knew him during his pomp, especially after his rivalry with another Brit star,
He also won a number of titles, before hanging up his gloves in 2019.
This star, now 34, finished his career with an impressive 28-4 record.

He had begun his time in the pro ranks an impressive 19-0.
Then, in 2013, he ran into rival Carl Froch.
He was controversially stopped by Froch in the ninth round, with the decision causing a furore among British boxing fans.
The IBF subsequently ordered a rematch between the duo – and such was the interest the rivalry had created that it took place at Wembley Stadium.

Froch was again the victor, but that wouldn’t be the end of… George Groves.
Following wins over Christopher Rebrasse and Denis Douglin, he would suffer defeat to Badou Jack.
But that preceded a spectacular seven-fight win streak – seeing him become champion at the fourth attempt and culminating in a brilliant victory over Chris Eubank Jr in February 2018.
His career would end with a defeat to Callum Smith in December of that year.
Upon announcing his retirement, he said: “After taking a little time to reflect on the recent events in my career, I have decided that it is time for me to retire as a professional fighter.
“In 2017, I boxed in front of a home crowd in Sheffield and became the WBA super-middleweight world champion.
“After four attempts I had finally fulfilled my childhood dream, and the experience was as great as I had always imagined it would be.
“It was without doubt the best moment of my career.”

Eddie Hearn sheds new light on what he and Conor McGregor discussed during ‘mad’ meeting about Katie Taylor fight

MATCHROOM chief Eddie Hearn has described UFC star Conor McGregor as a great promoter. The Londoner says the former UFC champion will be a massive part of Katie Taylor’s homecoming event later this year.
Conor McGregor held a meeting with Eddie Hearn last week
Eddie Hearn says the UFC star is a great promoter
The top boxing promoter flew into Ireland to hold talks with the Conor McGregor in a bid to bring Taylor’s blockbuster rematch with Amanda Serrano to GAA HQ as he revealed some details from the meeting.
Speaking with Betfred’s Lightweight Boxing Show, Hearn said: “Probably not in May. There’s a rugby game on there on that day and that’s our TV day. We know it’s £1 million more to host a fight there than Wembley, which is wild but it is what it is.
“Everybody says ‘Just pay it, just pay it, it’s great business’, well that isn’t great business because imagine making a fight like that and losing a £1 million. Fantastic, what great business.
“Conor McGregor talked about supporting the event and he’s just full of beans. I had a nice pint of Black Forged Irish Stout, which is better than Guinness, and it was just mad being around Conor. Imagine watching a Conor McGregor press conference and that’s basically what it was like at dinner.

“He’s a character, he’s a great promoter and he genuinely loves Katie Taylor and wants to help. I’m sure he’ll be part of the show.”
But a potential Croke Park date would only be possible later in 2023 as the Irish government ruled out any chance of the May 20 date for the ‘Bray Bomber’ and a stadium homecoming.
The May 20 fight now looks certain to take place at the 3Arena.
Hearn added: “The 3Arena is only 9,000 or 10,000 but it’s the biggest (indoor) arena in Ireland. We keep talking about these outdoor events for Katie but if I miss this slot then we may never get the chance to go.

“By the way it’s an unbelievable arena and Conor has fought there. The atmosphere would be wild. We won’t be very popular though as the tickets will go on day one. I just want it to happen.”
Hearn says that Dublin’s Croke Park could see Taylor face undisputed light-welterweight champion Chantelle Cameron if the Bray native beat Serrano in the rematch.
Hearn concluded: “Katie said to me she wants Amanda Serrano and Chantelle Cameron. The Chantelle Cameron fight could be the fight for Croke Park, but let’s get this up and running, get tickets on sale and give Katie Taylor a homecoming in Ireland.” More

John Fury says Tyson has already beaten a better fighter than Usyk… and it’s not Wilder or Klitschko

Dad John rates former cruiserweight world champion, Steve Cunningham, at the top of the list.
Tyson made his US debut at Madison Square Garden in New York against Cunningham in 2013.
Despite Tyson having a six inch height advantage and being 44 lbs heavier than Cunningham, the Gypsy King was dropped in Round Two.
Tyson managed to make it back to his feet and went on to stop Cunningham in Round Seven.

Ahead of a potential heavyweight unification fight with WBA, IBF, and WBO champ Usyk, who was also King of the cruiserweights at one point in time like Cunningham, John believes Tyson will have no problems with the Ukrainian.
John told talkSPORT: “Usyk, look at him, he’s just too small, mate.
“He’s a great little boxer, he’s probably a lovely fella, I’ve got nothing against him at all, I like the Ukrainian people, it’s a great country and I wish them all the very best, they’re struggling at the moment with their own problems, but Usyk talking boxing lingo, just too small for Tyson, he’s got nothing to beat him with.
“I thought Steve Cunningham was a better fighter than Usyk back in the day, Cunningham was better than Usyk.

“You know at cruiserweight, Steve Cunningham was unbeatable because he had everything.
“He had speed, he had power, he could move around the ring, great coordination.
“You know, it’s just that boxing has moved on, but not for the better, the guys just seem to be doing all this modern technique, it just looks awful to the eye.
“To me, they’ve got a lot right, but they’ve got a lot wrong as well, but we stick to the old school methods. You know they work.
“I’ve seen Usyk fight Joshua twice, he ain’t beating Tyson him, definitely not.
“I’m not just saying because he’s my own son, but he’s been out there 34 times unbeaten, you know I’ve not been wrong yet, so there you are, Tyson’s the king of the ring.”

Tommy Fury’s dad John makes Jake Paul U-turn with surprise admission before fight as rivalry hots up

Perhaps the most heated came in November as Tommy fought on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather’s exhibition bout with Deji.
Fury Senior tore his shirt off and tried to get through the ropes to Paul who was commentating at the time but he dismissed it as just harmless fun.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror Fury Senior expressed that he does in fact like the Youtuber turned boxer.
He said: “I like the kid, I like him and his brother Logan, I like all of them YouTubers, they bring good stuff and at the end of the day I’m excited talking to them.”

He added: “Old people, like me, can get good vibes off young people and I love to see young people doing well in life and that’s what the Pauls have done. As well as all the other YouTubers, KSI, Salt Papi, they’re all great for the job aren’t they?”
Fury Senior is in no doubt about who will win and believes Tommy and Paul could even become friends after their grudge fight.
He said: ” I’m one million per cent confident it will be Tommy, but I’m sure they can be friends after.
“They’re just young lads doing their job and Jake Paul is very good at that job! I’m having a game with him like he’s having a game with me, always remember that. I’m an old, experienced guy in this field.”

‘Is it right?’ – Eddie Hearn slams possibility of Jake Paul receiving world ranking with win over Tommy Fury

But the decision to potentially rank Paul hasn’t perplexed Hearn, who told Seconds Out: “Commercially I get it.
“I don’t think either fighter deserves that spot but it’s boxing.
“It’s a good fight and certainly the winner will be undefeated and there are other fighters in the top 15 of that governing body that don’t deserve to be there either.”
Hearn doesn’t begrudge the WBC for trying to potentially tee up a big fight in the future but believes ranking Paul, or Fury, after the bout will make a mockery of the sport.

The Matchroom Boxing chief told iFL TV: “Sometimes governing bodies have to live in that commercial world as well.
“Tommy Fury’s a proper fighter and Jake Paul would make a statement if he won that fight.

“Because there’s fighters that deserve to be in the top 15 much more than Jake Paul, but it’s the world we live in.”
Hearn, 43, initially tipped Paul to strike the telling blow to Fury before the fight with his mind games.
During an appearance on The MMA Hour, he said: “Mentally, he’ll break Tommy Fury.
“I think he’ll mess with Tommy mentally, and I just think by the time they get in the ring, if they do get in the ring, I think Tommy will be defeated before the fight’s even taken place.

“And I think will win by knockout.”
But he’s since changed his prediction for the Saudi showdown, telling Boxing UK: “I’m quite looking forward to it.
“I did think that Jake Paul would win the fight, but I think I’ve changed my mind.
“It’s a 50/50 though which is a little bit worrying in itself.” More

But the fight was thrown into jeopardy when Wilder began to entertain “all sorts of different offers” due to an unsatisfactory purse.
And the fight is seemingly now well and truly off the cards following the IBF’s push for an interim title fight between Ruiz Jr and Hrgovic.
IBF president Daryl People said in a letter: “On January 11, 2023, the IBF ordered Filip Hrgovic and Andy Ruiz to begin negotiations for the IBF Heavyweight Interim Championship Title.”
“An agreement could not be reached and on February 13, 2013, Mr. Nisse Sauerland, representing Filip Hrgovic, requested an immediate purse bid.”

The victor of the bout will put themselves in contention to face the winner of Tyson Fury’s undisputed heavyweight title fight with Oleksandr Usyk.

Undefeated Ukranian Usyk holds the IBF title, which he prised from Anthony Joshua’s clutches in September 2021.
Hrgovic is currently the mandatory challenger for the strap following a controversial decision win over Zhang Zhilei on the undercard of Usyk vs Joshua 2.
