Anthony Joshua to return to training THIS WEEK in hint he will make comeback to the ring before December

ANTHONY JOSHUA is reportedly returning to training this week in a fresh hint that he will be returning to the ring before December.Former unified heavyweight champion AJ hasn’t set foot in the ring since his scrappy points win over Jermaine Franklin last month.

We revealed this week that the 33-year-old’s long-awaited showdown with Deontay Wilder is on the verge of being finalised.
His promoter Eddie Hearn has stated that he would like the Watford warrior to take another warm-up fight before throwing down with the former WBC king.
An all-British clash with Dillian Whyte has been mooted – and now it seems that Joshua is about to start preparing for a fight camp before the bumper bout with the Bronze Bomber.
Journalist Dan Rafael took to Twitter to reveal to his followers that he had spoken to AJ’s trainer Derrick James.

And he says that he informed him that Joshua is “due back in gym” on Friday.
Talks over his long overdue grudge match with Wilder – which is on course to land in Saudi Arabia this winter – began in April.
Unlike their first round of negotiations five years ago, this time discussions between both camps have gone swimmingly – so much so that Wilder’s head coach – Malik Scott – expects an imminent announcement.
Joshua and Wilder’s long-awaited meeting is set to be part of a four-man tournament involving Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.

And Scott has also claimed that the December dust-ups will take place on the SAME night.
Matchroom Boxing chief said: “If they [the Saudis] can’t get [Tyson] Fury-Usyk over the line, they will still do AJ vs. Wilder.
“You hit the numbers that we want, and then we work backward on that for the August fight that he [Joshua] will be having.
“We all believe he needs that fight in August and more time with [trainer] Derrick James, more preparation for Deontay Wilder, and then that’s it.
“Who we choose will be dependent on if we get that Wilder deal done.
“I like the Dillian Whyte fight [for Joshua]. Whether he gets the Wilder fight done or not, I like that fight.” More

Ebanie Bridges claims ‘scared’ Anthony Joshua has a ‘glass chin’ and says Deontay Wilder will knock him out

EBANIE BRIDGES has slammed Anthony Joshua as “scared” ahead of his potential fight against Deontay Wilder.AJ has been earmarked to fight the Bronze Bomber in a Saudi Arabian boxing tournament later this year.

However, IBF bantamweight champion Bridges does not give the Brit much hope of winning the bout due to his “glass chin”.
She told talkSPORT: “I think Wilder knocks Joshua out.
“I always said that because Joshua has shown his whole career he has a glass chin.
“And, he’s even worse now because he’s scared and when you’re scared and hesitant, you’re even more susceptible to it.”

The other fight in the proposed tournament would see Tyson Fury finally take on Oleksandr Uysk following their failed negotiations for an undisputed title fight earlier this year.
But Bridges believes Fury has the upper hand on the Ukrainian thanks to an overwhelming physical advantage.
She said: “I think Fury wins that.
“He’s too big, strong, slick, skilful, he’s got all that and he’s not scared and he has spite, so I think all that beats Usyk.

“I think Usyk is very skilled, but Fury has the weight and the power and he’s a very natural heavyweight.
“So that’s why he’ll beat Usyk, he’ll be able to wear him down and tire him out.”
The current plan for the tournament will see the winner of both fights square off in a grand final.
However, this could take a twist with Usyk instead fighting Wilder and Joshua fighting Fury in a Battle of Britain showdown.
It comes after the WBA ordered Usyk to defend his title against Daniel Dubois.
But with a deal yet to be confirmed and if a fight doesn’t come to fruition then the WBA will order a fight between Usyk and Wilder. More

The tough nut is adamant that he can “go hard” for five rounds and bring “that belt back home” when asked about the showdown.
And he is determined to make the most of his “second chance” after he opened up on a terrifying accident that left him “dead” when he was only aged six.
The father of six told Daily Star: “I was playing football with my brother and two of his mates on a field and the ball went into this building.
“I ran after in after it, slipped on a board and when I tried to stop myself falling I grabbed some wires that send thousands of volts through me. Everything was lit up so bright I could hardly see and I started floating up.

“I saw a castle and I floated over the walls. There was someone on the other side reading a book to some kids. He came over to me and said, ‘It’s too soon for you, you should go back’.
“I woke up when I heard my brother screaming and it turned out my dad had booted me off the wires and saved me. But I know there is something there [after death]. I have seen it, but I was given a second chance.”
McCallum has since endured battles with both drink and drugs as an adult until a chance message from his partner while on a night out changed his life path.
The ex-bodybuilder admitted that he “went off the rails for a few years” and would regularly “drink a bottle of vodka a day” and he even ended up having to live on a boat after getting kicked out of his house before everything changed.

He explained: “I was in the pub one night when my missus messaged me saying, ‘There’s a bare-knuckle boxing show coming up, you should try it’. I knew straightaway this was my chance.”
Despite being knocked out in the opening round of his first fight against ex-UFC fighter Chris Fishgold, he has has since produced two one-round KOs of his own with his style being likened to that of a young Mike Tyson.
McCallum added: “I’m stocky like Tyson was and try to mimic his style. I’m an aggressive, front-foot fighter who takes some discouraging.
“I’m not trying to be the world’s best boxer, but I want to show people I can be one of the best bare-knuckle boxers in the world.”

Conor McGregor questioned whether Tyson Fury will ever fight in the cage
He proposed a stand-up bout, contested with the smaller 4oz MMA gloves but under boxing rules.
But UFC legend McGregor has heard one too many of Fury’s broken promises to take the challenge too seriously.
He said: “Is Tyson willing to step in the f****g cage or what? He’s saying he would, Tyson says a lot of things.
“I love him, he’s a mad, mad thing Tyson. And I’m excited to see him go.”

Fury, 34, is currently faced with forgoing a summer return fight with available opponents limited.
It came after he saw talks to face Oleksandr Usyk, 36, in the heavyweight division’s first four-belt unification bout collapse.
But boxing bosses in Saudi Arabia are looking to revive the historic fight as part of a series of tournament-style bouts.
Eddie Hearn revealed there is a plan in place to have Fury fight Usyk on the same night as Anthony Joshua, 33, against Deontay Wilder, 37.

And McGregor probed the promoter at his Black Forge Inn pub in Dublin, just days out from Katie Taylor’s homecoming fight.
He said: “What’s the old craic with the old Saudi, is that four real? With the four? I know you want the fight. Saudi want to do it?
“Interesting isn’t it the Saudis, do you reckon it will happen?”
Hearn: “It’s a lot of money. There’s three people that will do it. We’ll see what Tyson Fury thinks.”
McGregor lost his boxing debut in 2017 to unbeaten great Floyd Mayweather, 46, but fancies fighting Mexican icon Canelo Alvarez, 32.
Although he joked Hearn would have to settle for a co-promotion such is the UFC icon’s superstardom.

I ate too many pizzas, Chinese and takeaways and drank too much beer before Jack Catterall fight admits Josh Taylor

JOSH TAYLOR admits too much booze and junk food were to blame for almost losing all his world title belts.Scotland’s ring king was lucky to edge a points victory against Jack Catterall in last year’s clash at the Hydro in Glasgow.

Taylor revealed he lost his way after unifying the light-welterweight division following his win over Jose Ramirez in Las Vegas in May 2021.
On June 10 he’ll defend the WBO crown — his only remaining belt — against Brooklyn’s former world lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez.
When asked what has changed since his Hydro horror show, Taylor said: “Discipline. Discipline and having a whole new team around me.
“When I came back from Las Vegas I took too much time out of the gym.

“I ate too much good-tasting bad food, too many pizzas, Chinese and takeaways. I drank too much beer.
“I took my eye off the ball and I just lost my self-control.
“In between sessions I was going away and cheating on my diet. I wasn’t focused, I wasn’t dialled in, that was the mistake I made.
“Don’t get me wrong, it’s always tough to make the weight.

“But my new team is keeping me grounded and disciplined.
“Having said that, the move to welterweight is inevitable. I will be moving up at some point in the future.”
Prestonpans puncher Taylor also confessed he didn’t show Englishman Catterall enough respect.
He said: “At the last fight a little bit of complacency set in, which was the worst mistake I’ve ever made.
“I tried to learn from fighters from the past who overlooked their opponents and paid the price for it. At the end of the day, though, you’re only human.
“And when you’ve achieved what I’ve achieved in such a short space of time, and you’re the only person from the UK to have done it, you do tend to enjoy it.
“I won’t do that again. You’re a fool if you make the same mistake twice.
“I’ve still got huge goals and I want to become a two-weight world champion.”
Lopez will be no rollover for Taylor in New York.
The American held the IBF lightweight title from 2019 to 2021 and the WBA and WBO titles from 2020 until 2021.
Taylor added “At light-welter, there’s nothing left for me to do, but there are still big fights like this one.
“This keeps the fire in my belly and the butterflies in the stomach, the excitement and the nerves.
“It’s got me buzzing to go to the gym again with a spring in my step.
“I never had that for Catterall. I felt I had just climbed Everest and then I was coming back to climb Arthur’s Seat.
“I ended up lowering my operating level because my mindset wasn’t right.
