The 30-year-old’s coach, Dmytro Dubrov, described him as “one of the best boxers” in an emotional tribute.
He said: “He was one of my best students.
“He was like a son to me. I  coached him since he was nine years old.
“We went through a very difficult boxing path, he achieved a lot.

Oleksandr’s funeral – attended by military comrades in the Sumy region and broadcast on TV – was held on Wednesday.

“Eternal memory to all those who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of our country.”
The city of Bakhmut has seen some of the fiercest fighting since the war broke out in February last year.
Vladimir Putin’s forces took almost 300 days to seize control of the city which has been described as having only limited wider strategic importance to the war in Ukraine.
Russia pushed forward just 60ft a day, suffered up to 100,000 casualties, and left Bakhmut a shattered hellscape in a painfully slow grinding nine-month advance.
The city was once home to 73,000 Ukrainians and how has been left in ruins.
Pictures show burning buildings and totally destroyed streets devoid of all life after months of what has been described as the “bloodiest battle” of the war in Ukraine.
Ukraine says their soldiers have played a key role in their strategy of exhausting the Russians.
And they say their current positions in the areas surrounding Bakhmut will let them strike back inside the 400-year-old city.
The city was immediately on the frontline of the war when Putin invaded on February 24, 2022 – being regularly shelled by the Russians
But it wasn’t until last August that the Russians made the city its prime target – pouring in troops in staggering numbers.
Russia have estimated to have suffered up to 100,000 casualties – including 20,000 dead – during the battle.
Nato officials believe the Ukrainians had been holding the Russians at a rate of five-to-one – meaning they lost around 20,000 men.
The fighting devolved into brutal hand-to-hand and street-by-street combat – with some reports putting a the life expectancy for those on the frontline to be just four hours.
Bakhmut had become a highly symbolic battle for both Ukraine and Russia – being dubbed a “meat grinder” and compared to the World War 1 battles such as the Somme and Verdun.
Russian forces – led by the Wagner Group mercenaries and their deranged warlord Yevgeny Prigozhin – claimed to have captured the city over the weekend.
Ukraine however remained defiant – and President Volodymyr Zelensky denied the city was occupied while his forces appeared to be regrouping on the outskirts.
Ukraine’s tactical gains in the rural area outside urban Bakhmut could be more significant than they seem, according to some analysts.
Phillips O’Brien, a professor of strategic studies at the University of St. Andrews said: “It was almost like the Ukrainians just took advantage of the fact that, actually, the Russian lines were weak.
“The Russian army has suffered such high losses and is so worn out around Bakhmut that … it cannot go forward anymore.”
The Institute for the Study of War reports that Ukrainian troops have bunkered down in the city’s southwest on highway T0504.

It added there has been a “tacit acknowledgment” from Ukraine that the Russians control the rest of Bakhmut.
Ukrainian forces however report they are continuing to push and are moving to encircle some of the Russian forces.

And now – with the details of Smith’s injury remaining a mystery – the bout has been scrapped.

“I’ve always said a fully fit Liam Smith beats Chris Eubank Jr every time.

“I tried training through because I was desperate not to let anyone down but I’ve had to withdraw from the bout in July following the latest medical assessment this week.
“I’ll heal up now and then be fully fit for later in the summer.”
SunSport put speculation about the doomed bout to Boxxer promoter Ben Shalom on Monday, only for him to rebuff the rumours.
Savannah Marshall’s undisputed super-middleweight world title fight against Franchon Crews-Dezurn will now headline the event at the 20,000-seater AO Arena in Manchester.

And Shalom insists it will still be a success, as he announce he will give away free drinks to make up for the absence of Eubank vs Smith.

He said on Wednesday: “Savannah Marshall headlining the UK’s two biggest arenas in back-to-back fights is a first for a female fighter and shows the strength of the women’s sport today.
“She’s fighting for the undisputed world super-middleweight championship against the USA’s Franchon Crews-Dezurn – a fight which could headline any arena in the world.
“Manchester’s own Mark Heffron defending his British title against Zak Chelli, Natasha Jonas laying her own world titles on the line, plus a once-in-a-generation talent like Ben Whittaker and the outstanding Callum Simpson takes on Boris Crighton – this is a card stacked with great fights and we are very excited for it.
“We understand a lot of fans will be disappointed to hear the Smith-Eubank rematch is being postponed, so we’ve arranged a free voucher for every fan in the venue to have a drink on us on fight night, plus they will receive priority access to Smith vs Eubank II tickets for the new date when it’s announced, and a discount on those tickets.” More

I was targeted by online trolls over beloved Tyson Fury tattoo – now I’m getting rid of it because of something he did

A TYSON FURY superfan has revealed she had her tattoo of the Gypsy King covered up with a giant skull because he was “rude” to her.Mum-of-two Anna Sinclair, 34, was trolled mercilessly when she first had the portrait tattoo done, with people claiming it looked nothing like him, but she had the last laugh when the boxing champ gave it his seal of approval when they met back in January.

But she decided to get the piece covered up after he was too busy to chat when she met him a second timeCredit: Anna Sinclair

After: The portrait is now covered up with a giant skullCredit: Anna Sinclair
Now Anna said she felt disappointed after she bumped into Fury a second time – claiming he brushed her off and was too busy to speak to her.
The next day she went to a tattoo studio and had the portrait covered up with a large black and grey skull.

“I removed Tyson tattoo removed because I felt he was rude to me,” Anna, who lives in Tenerife, told The Sun.
“He was in Tenerife last week because he had a gig here for fans. It was 250 euros per ticket entrance and me and my boyfriend were planning to go.

“The day before we parked the car and I heard someone say, ‘Tyson, Tyson.’
“I came out from the car and he was just there, literally walking towards me, pushing a pram while on the phone.
“I just greeted him and said, ‘Hi welcome back to Tenerife’, he looked at me angrily and said, ‘Don’t you see I am on my phone?’
“I felt a bit bad but then I saw his wife Paris coming from the back and she remembered me from the first time I met them a few months ago.

“She said ‘Hi Anna’. Oh she is an angel. We gave each other a kiss and a hug.
“I told her immediately, ‘Sorry we won’t be coming for the event’.
“I just felt a bit disappointed.. because I think he doesn’t really know how to speak to his fans. Only at those expensive shows where he gets paid to perform.
“So I went and covered him up with a skull.”
Anna originally got the tattoo on her arm last year to pay homage to the heavyweight champ – after saying he was her “idol” and even inspired her to quit booze.
But she was bombarded with mean comments when she posted it on a Tyson Fury fan page on Facebook with people saying the inking looks nothing like the Gypsy King and she should have it removed.
Anna managed to shut the haters up after she met Fury while he was on holiday with wife Paris and their kids at an all-inclusive resort in Tenerife, and they both loved the tattoo.
The boxer even posed for a picture with Anna while she showed off the tattoo.
Anna says although the cover-up was “very painful” she has no regrets over the tattoo and said feels “stronger” after having him inked on her arm for the past year.
“He lasted one year. I think he gave me a lot of inspiration … but like everything, it doesn’t last forever I guess,” Anna said.

“I definitely feel stronger after having his tattoo for a year and I don’t regret any of it but he should work on his social skills.

Tyson Fury wears amazing custom suit to watch best pal Joseph Parker race to outrageous 89-SECOND KO win vs Faiga Opelu

TYSON FURY cheered best pal and training partner Joseph Parker to an 89-second victory on Wednesday in Australia wearing a stunning custom suit. The 34-year-old WBC Gypsy King flew Down Under to support his New Zealand pal as he waits for his next defence to be decided.

The 6ft 9in Morecambe mastermind played with the Aussie media all week, promising to fight over there soon and drink the place dry on his flying visit.
So it was down to Parker – who reigned as WBO heavyweight before Anthony Joshua dethroned him back in 2018 – to focus on serious and fast business.
The Samoan slugger kept up his rebuild – after last year’s bloody and brutal KO loss to Joe Joyce – with a win over Faiga Opelu 1min and 29 seconds.
Before Fury even had a chance to bark any advice, Parker landed booming right hands and a couple of chopping left hooks.

Opelu tried to bob and weave but he got peppered with a range of blows before he turned his back on the attack and fell to the floor.
Without even starting to count, the referee helped pick dazed Opelu off of the canvas and helped him into a corner before waving the brief one-sided fight off.
This was Parker’s latest step towards re-joining the division’s biggest names, although Fury has insisted he would rather give the Kiwi his belt rather than fight him, as he took his record to 32-3.
He said afterwards: “I’d like to thank Django for taking the fight and putting on the best performance he could.

“I want to keep busy, anyone who’s keen, anywhere. I just want to fight.”

Tyson Fury says he’s rather give up belt than fight heavyweight rival who is two stone lighter than him

Parker, 31, faces Faiga Opel, 29, in Melbourne tomorrow night and will have the backing of Fury, who made the near 11,000 mile trip over.
The champ was in talks for the heavyweight division’s first four-belt undisputed decider against Oleksandr Usyk this year.
But the deal broke down amid a row over the potential split for a rematch between the two.
Fury, 34, was looking to come back in the summer at Wembley but found very little available opponents available.

It led the two-time unbeaten champion to name Australia as a potential host for his very next bout.
Fury was at today’s press conference to watch Parker weigh-in at 108.8kg, the New Zealander’s the lightest weight since his defeat to Anthony Joshua in 2018.
The Brit, who hit the scales at 19.2 stone for his victory over Derek Chisora in December, was asked whether defending his title against close pal and training partner Parker in the future was “a realistic possibility” by the media in attendance.
But he instantly replied with: “Definitely not. No. I’d rather give him the belt than fight him for it.

“We’re too close for that fight, and there’s plenty of heavyweights out there.”
Fury then joked that he also “didn’t want to get beat up” by Parker.
The star had earlier in the week made the shock revelation that he could be in line to fight Aussie heavyweight Demsey McKean.
McKean, 32, is signed to Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom banner and is currently 22-0 with 14 knockouts.
And he was hired as Anthony Joshua’s sparring before before the Brit’s loss to Usyk in September 2021.
McKean was also considered as an opponent for Joshua this year before Jermaine Franklin was ultimately selected. More
