Davis vs Garcia result: Gervonta Davis KOs Ryan Garcia with sickening ‘ghost punch’ body shot in Las Vegas showdown

GERVONTA DAVIS propelled himself into superstardom with a brutal stoppage victory over Ryan Garcia. The American known as ‘Tank’ had Garcia on the floor twice in the blockbuster bout in Las Vegas, and the second time was enough to end the fight in round seven.

A crippling left to the body caused a delayed reaction from Garcia, who agonisingly dropped to his feet and failed to beat the count.
Davis now has 29 wins as he maintained his unbeaten record in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Davis, 28, said: “I’m definitely the face of boxing. Abso-f***ing-lutely.”
He added: “I was excited to be part of this event I remember coming up in Golden Gloves and seeing Floyd fight at the MGM and it was crazy.

“I just saw Rihanna perform at the Super Bowl and I was like, ‘That’s going to be me.’ Now we’re here.
“It definitely matched the dream but the job isn’t done until I retire. I’m gonna keep my head down, stay humble and continue to work.”
Garcia – who pushed so hard for two years to make the dream fight a reality – suffered his first loss in 24 professional bouts.
Garcia, 24, said after defeat: “I’m good. Tank is a great fighter.

“I was honoured to be in the ring with a great fighter and I respect him a lot. You know how the business goes. You’re a good man, bro.”
It was Garcia, 24, who started the quicker of the two in the 136lb catchweight clash, flashing out his jab and left hook.
Davis, 28, began on the defence, looking to cover up and gage his timing and range.
And the fight kicked into life in round two as Garcia came out swinging, forcing Davis to cover up and grab on.
But as the social media sensation threw his trademark left hook, Davis ducked underneath and replied with a beautiful left hand.
It put Garcia on the seat of his pants and the tide was turned from there on.

Davis took control from that moment, growing more active with his jab as Garcia looked to land his left to head and body.
Back-and-forth action ensued in the fourth as both traded hooks and combinations with the bout really heating up.
Davis began to get on the front foot, stalking Garcia as he tried to counter with his razor sharp left over the top.
Garcia showed glimpses of discomforting Davis in round six, with a sharp reply catching the ex-world champion’s attention.
But in round seven – in a blink and you’ll miss it moment – the Floyd Mayweather protege sunk in a savage body shot.
A sneaky left hand to Garcia’s midsection had the youngster reeling backwards and eventually down to his knees.

He desperately tried to catch his breath and make it to his feet but the damage was done.
The referee’s count hit ten and declared Davis the winner, on the biggest night of his life.
He said: “I saw his facial expression and that’s what made me take it to him.
“It was a good shot. I thought he was going to get up. I like to play mind games.
“When he was looking at me I was looking at him like trying to tell ‘get up’ but he shook his head and said no.”
Garcia bravely tried to rise before the count hit ten but he lacked the oxygen in his lungs to do so.

He admitted: “He just caught me with a good shot.
“I don’t want to make no excuses. He caught me with a good shot I just couldn’t recover and that’s was it.
“That’s all I’ve got to say, he caught me with a good body shot, it snuck under me and caught me good.
“I’m not going to say nothing but yeah, I couldn’t breathe. I was going to get back up but I just couldn’t get up.”
The pay-per-view super-fight – between to unbeaten stars in their prime – was billed as one to save the sport and crown its new face.

And after Davis secured yet another win, with a record amount of eyes watching, he declared himself the boxing’s new boss.
He roared: “I’m definitely the face of boxing absof***inglutely.”

Joe Cordina sends Welsh crowd into delirium to claw back IBF world title with thrilling split decision win vs Rakhimov

JOE CORDINA ripped back his IBF super-featherweight world title with a thrilling split decision win over Shavkat Rakhimov. The 31-year-old Welshman won the red and gold belt with a sensational knockout last June but – when it was revealed he needed surgery on a hand later broken in sparring for his first defence – he was stripped in October.

Undeterred and undefeated, he got a second crack at the crown in his home city of Cardiff and regained his belt with a perfect blend of skill and savagery, taking it with cards of 111-116, 115-112 & 114-113.
Cordina’s hands were fast and accurate and his front-foot pivot was slick, Rakhimov – the 28-year-old from Tajikistan – piled forward hurling body punches.
The southpaw champion landed regularly with his heavy left hand but Cordina was happy to trade with him in the second.
And then a left hook dropped Rakhimov but he stunned the crowd by beating the count and surviving the round.

Rakhimov’s left eye was a bloody and bruised mess by the end of the sixth, following a string of right hands from the orthodox Brit.
Cordina – for so long regarded a Welsh wizard best at using his long wands from distance – was like a Mexican gunslinger throwing bombs in the pocket in the seventh.
The scarred right hand – that has now been rebuilt with two operations – landed again in the eighth and buzzed the wilting visitor.

    Here it is
Chrisean paying tribute to her partner on Instagram.
It was there, I just missed it a few minutes ago.

    Social says
Still waiting to see what Blueface or Chrisean Rock make of the fight on their social medias.
Neither of them have been particularly active today online.
He might have had a fight he was focusing on, to be fair.
    Where next?
What next for Blueface? Will he carry on in this game?
Will he have a fight on the Misfits cards or stay on Kingpyn?
And who is his opponent next? Ed Matthews rematch must be close to the top of the list.
A lot of possibilities and options for the rapper in this emerging influencer world of boxing.
    Still to come
Two fights left to wrap up this London card, including the main event of Austin McBroom vs AnEson Gib.
    Follow it all right HERE
    Size matters
You have to think that Blueface’s size made all the difference there.
He looked massive against his opponent. It looked like a game on Tekken for a while.
What a game that was, by the way.
    Battle royal
Surely we’ll see a rematch of that one?
    We have to right?
They might need some more ‘wildcard’ bouts on the Dublin card in June.
    What a finish
    What a war!
Matthews started the round on top and had Blueface in all sorts of trouble in the corner.
But the rapper got himself out of there and turned the tables.
Matthews was trapped in, and couldn’t get out of the corner.
The referee moved in right at the end of the fourth round. Blueface is the winner.
    It’s over!
    Blueface wins by TKO
Blueface vs Ed Matthews (Round 3)
Blueface comes on the front foot more in that round.
Not worrying about what Matthews has to offer.
He is risking it all if Ed can hit him with some power punches.
Blueface vs Ed Matthews (Round 2)
Matthews is down in round two!
Blueface has his opponent in trouble and he’s forced to take a knee.
Matthews beats the count comes back well.
It wasn’t sustained pressure from Blueface that got the knockdown, just a real good bodyshot that took all the wind out the sails.
Blueface vs Ed Matthews (Round 1)
Tense start, a close start. Not much between them in that opening exchange.
Blueface has the clear size advantage but Matthews is holding his ground well.
Hard to call that first round.
    Here we go then!
The formalities are done, we have fighters in the ring, and we’re about to get this bout underway.
    Still waiting

We have two men’s quarterfinals and this fight to go. It’s almost time for Blueface.
    Blueface’s career so far
It’s been a bit stop start, to say the least.
BlueFace made his debut on the undercard of Paige VanZant against Rachael Ostovich in Bare Knuckle boxing in 2021.
Last year he was due to fight both Thomas Oliveira and Nick Young but they were both canceled.
This bout marks his first professional contest.

This Elle Brooke fight is the last of the women’s tournament tonight.
Then we have two men’s quarterfinals including the main event McBroom vs Gib, and this ‘wildcard’ bout we’re all waiting for.

It’s leading up to the main event, the rematch between Austin McBroom and AnEsonGib.
    Night so far
We’ve had a few fights at the arena so far tonight.
It’s a packed house in north London for this – they love their influencer boxing on this side of the Atlantic.
Emily Brook and 6ar6ie won their quarterfinals clashes to start the night in the women’s tournament.
And then King Kenny got the men’s tournament underway with a win.
Four men’s bouts, four female fights, and this wildcard battle – that’s deck for tonight.
    Did they split?
Blueface and Chrisean Rock have an explosive relationship at the best of times.
A week does not seem to go by without the couple having some sort of spat on social media platforms.
Here, our entertainment team try and explain their relationship and the rumors.

Big win for AnEsonGib over Austin McBroom
After all the hype over the rematch, Austin came out very defensively.
The first round was impossible to call from a judge’s perspective but from round two Gib came out of the traps and on the offensive.
He seemed the most rounded boxer and attack and in his defensive guard.
While Austin had to retire through injury, it saved him being stopped.
The body shots from Gib were hurting him and the combination of hooks and headshots seemed destined to drop him to the canvas.
    AnEsonGib wins by TKO
Austin McBroom vs AnEsonGib (Round 3)
The fight starts as the second round ended.
AnEsonGib goes on the front foot and lands some big body shots.
Austin was getting hit to the head and Gib was getting through with all his shots.
As the boxers clinched Austin started screaming and wincing.
The referee tries to get McBroom to acknowledge him but he doesn’t and referee calls it.
McBroom seems injured but nobody knows how.
Austin McBroom vs AnEsonGib (Round 2)
AnEsonGib is looking to put some pressure on McBroom.
Austin is being too defensive and careful.
It means his negative approach, preventing the repeat of the first fight means Gib getting point scoring punches and combos in.
Austin will need to do something now as he lost that round with the judges surely.
Austin McBroom vs AnEsonGib (Round 1)
McBroom is more reserved than the first time they met.
He knows that when he went on the attack, it led to him getting put on the canvas.
AnEsonGib comes forward a little and McBroom tries a big swing that turns into an airshot.
Pretty even round, tough one for the judges to call as we cannot have drawn rounds.
    Austin McBroom vs AnEsonGib
Now for the main event of the night.
This is the one we have all been waiting for.
A real grudge match of two fighters who have beef with each other.
    Respect shown in the ring
In the post-fight interview Whindersson Nunes address his next match which seems to be King Kenny who is stood in front of him.
He says that he respects his technical style and his fight and he cannot wait to see how their boxing styles match up.
That surely could be a classic fight.
    Whindersson Nunes wins by TKO
Whindersson Nunes vs Filipek (Round 2)
Whindersson looks to take it up a notch.
He goes on the attack and puts in a great combination and puts Filipek on the canvas.
He gets a stand eight count but gets up.
Whindersson can smell blood and comes in sprays him with lefts and rights and puts him down once again.
Nunes is hurting Filipek with monstrous body shots.
He hits him with big body shots again and puts him down.
    This is all over.
Whindersson Nunes vs Filipek (Round 1)
Neither boxer seems keen to come on the front foot.
Testing and probing each other with jabs.
Filipek catches Nunes with a combo to the body.
Then he opens up his defence and catches him with a jab to the face.
Whindersson looks to invite him onto him then drives a punch through the gloves to his face.
    Next fight up….
    Whindersson Nunes vs Filipek
The fans are looking forward to this one.
Filipek is getting a lot of boos heading to the ring.
A lot of Brazilians in the crowd here.
    Blueface gets stoppage
Ed Matthews looked dangerous at times but Blueface managed to take his body shots and come back at him.
He was accurate with his hits to the face, Matthews unable to block them.
It seemed to be a big advantage the additional height and Blueface used it well.
    Blueface wins by TKO
Blueface vs Ed Matthews (Round 4)
Matthews starts hitting Blueface with some big body shots.
He has Blueface pinned down with the barrage.
Blueface fights back and manages to catch him with some good head shots.
In the corner he just cannot get out of there.
The referee calls it, he is landing too many punches with no reply.
Blueface vs Ed Matthews (Round 3)
Blueface comes on the front foot more in that round.
Not worrying about what Matthews has to offer.
He is risking it all if Ed can hit him with some power punches.
Blueface vs Ed Matthews (Round 2)
Ed Matthews comes flying out of the traps going for the kill.
Despite being the smaller man he is aggressive.
Blueface hits him with a body shot and Matthews drops to one knee.
That probably evens this round up.
Blueface vs Ed Matthews (Round 2)
Ed Matthews comes flying out of the traps going for the kill.
Despite being the smaller man he is aggressive.
Blueface hits him with a body shot and Matthews drops to one knee.
That probably evens this round up.
Blueface vs Ed Matthews (Round 1)
Both fighters trade blows but it is Matthews going for the big shots.
Blueface tries to land some himself.
He seems able to duck and weave his opponents shots.
An even round with both fighters testing each other out.
Brooke needs to get over height problem
Elle did struggle with the height and reach of Danielka.
While she is over that hurdle, if she is drawn against 6ar6ie.
At 6′ and with the wild punches she throws, it could cause a lot of problems for Brooke.
Elle Brooke through to next round
The fight everyone is wondering about now is Elle versus Emily.
It was a tough fight for Elle Brooke but a fair result.
She laid down a marker in the early rounds and avoided any big hits.
A much harder fight than she expected against a much taller opponent.
Credit where it is due to Danielka, she is one tough cookie.
Elle Brooke wins by unanimous decision
Elle Brooke vs Ola Danielka (Round 5)
Elle Brooke keeps coming forward with the jab.
Danielka is countering with combination punches.
She is not as accurate as Brooke and does not have as much power behind them.
Danielka looks capable of going the distance and taking all Elle has to give.
The Polish punches are coming across weaker as the round draws on.
Elle Brooke vs Ola Danielka (Round 4)
Elle is finding it hard to get in close to Danielka.
The further away she stays, it plays into Ola’s long reach.
Elle Brooke is finding the tank a bit low right now.
Relying on the jab to try and score points.
Her opponent seems keener to come on the offensive.
Elle Brooke vs Ola Danielka (Round 3)
Elle is finding this is a tougher fight than she expected.
Danielka is taking all she can throw at her.
The Polish fighter is able to come over the top all of the time.
Towards the end of the round it is in fact Brooke looking to get into the clinch.
Both girls have bloodied noses from walking into the jabs.

Blueface vs Ed Matthews (Round 1)
Both fighters trade blows but it is Matthews going for the big shots.
Blueface tries to land some himself.
He seems able to duck and weave his opponents shots.
An even round with both fighters testing each other out.
    Final four
We have our four women’s boxers who will advance to the semi-finals in Dublin in June.
Emily Brooke will be joined by 6ar6ie, Jully Poca and now Elle Brooke.
Elle Brooke wins by unanimous decision
Elle wins, it’s official. But it was hard work for sure.
Elle Brooke vs Ola Danielka (Round 2)
Elle is looking to pace herself now after that fiery start.
Danielka is looking to feel the energy being sapped already.
There seems to be a tiredness to her punches.
She is just managing to keep her at arm’s length still.
