Canelo Alvarez rolls back years to defeat Charlo in dominant display then roars ‘nobody can beat this, I’m a strong man’

CANELO ALVAREZ proved he’s still a force to be reckoned with thanks to a dominant victory over Jermell Charlo. The pride of Mexico defended his undisputed super middleweight throne against his 160lbs counterpart in front of a sold-out T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas early on Sunday morning.

The tall, rangy and explosive Charlo was, on paper, expected to give the face of boxing some trouble.
That trouble, however, didn’t materialise as Canelo asserted his dominance from the first to the final bell on his way to earning a lopsided points decision.
There were no shenanigans from the judges, who scored scoring the contest 119-108, 118-109 and 118-109 in favour of the Guadalajara gladiator.
A fired-up Canelo, 33, roared: “I’m the best. Who’s better? Nobody can beat this Canelo.”

He added: “I’m a strong fighter all the time. I’m a strong man.”
Challenger Charlo was floored for only the second time in his career in the seventh round after eating a beautiful uppercut moments after a big overhand right.
Canelo said of the knockdown: “I worked all the fight to go in the body.
“Then I changed the punch and that’s what happened. We worked for that.

“We know he’s a great fighter.
“He knows how to move in the ring and we worked that in the gym for three months.
“Three months in the mountains without my family, without everything.
“But I still love boxing. Boxing made me the person I am today. Boxing is my life.”
Former undisputed light-middleweight champion Charlo – who was stripped of his WBO crown as soon as the first bell rang – cut a dejected figure after coming up short in the biggest fight of his career.
He said: “I just feel like I wasn’t me in there. It’s boxing.
“Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.”
Disappointment with his performance aside, Charlo is proud of going the distance with the sport’s former pound-for-pound king.
“I’m proud of myself,” a crestfallen Charlo said. “He didn’t knock me out. He hit me with some hard shots.”

Tyson Fury says he’ll be ‘ridiculed’ for Francis Ngannou loss like Man Utd were after 7-0 hammering by Liverpool

TYSON FURY has compared the prospect of losing to Francis Ngannou to the battering his beloved Manchester United suffered at the hands of Liverpool last season. The Gypsy King locks horns with the former UFC heavyweight champion in a controversial crossover clash in Saudi Arabia next month.

Fury is an overwhelming favourite to come out of the desert dust-up victorious but insists he’s not taking the boxing novice lightly.
And he’s all too aware of the stain losing the Saudi showdown will leave on his career, much like Manchester United’s 7-0 loss to Liverpool in March has done with Erik ten Hag’s reign as Red Devils boss.
He told TNT Sports: “He’s about 6ft 5in tall, he’s about 278 pounds, he’s about 18 or 19 stone, a dynamite puncher with both hands.
“He’s recorded in the Guinness Book of Records as the hardest puncher to have ever punched anything, so there’s that risk.

“The biggest risk of all is fighting an MMA fighter, and I’m the world heavyweight champion, so what happens if he beats me? Ridiculed.
“It would be like getting beat by Liverpool for Manchester United, 7-0, wouldn’t it?
“How do you come back from that?”
Despite Ngannou’s lack of professional boxing experience, Fury, 35, is treating the MMA man-mountain the same way he has all his previous opponents.

He said: “All of these opponents I face, they are all risky fights, or are all big men – like anyone over 14 stone is a big man.
‘All of these guys are big lumps and when I fight them the risk is always the same, they’ve got a puncher’s chance.
“But I never leave a stone unturned.
‘That’s one thing I do. I always do everything I can in my power to be successful.
“The way I look at it is, if this guy is going to beat me then fair play to him I will shake his hand, he must be a good fighter because I’m no easy man to beat as I’ve shown over the years.
‘So if I can bump into somebody that can beat me, I would say, ‘Fantastic, fair play to you, well done,’ take them for a beer and that’s it.”
Fury is set to perform a quick turnaround after his ten-rounder with Ngannou for a historic undisputed heavyweight title fight with former pound-for-pound king Oleksandr Usyk.
SunSport understands the fight is on course to take place in Saudi on December 23, although it could be pushed back to January. More

Tyson Fury BANNED from cooking at home after ‘absolutely disgusting’ incident as Paris reveals his love of bacon pudding

TYSON FURY may be the king of the heavyweights, but he’s far from the king of his kitchen. The Gypsy King has been banished from whipping up meals in the hub of the home by his wife Paris for once serving up a plate of slop for the kids after labouring away for five hours.

Paris banned her husband from the kitchen from that day forwardCredit: INSTAGRAM@PARISFURY1
And the ordeal, which Paris recalls in her second book, still haunts her to this day.
She wrote: “With the whole house smelling like rotten dog food, he called us all into the kitchen and started dishing out bowls of lumpy grey sludge.
    “It looked absolutely disgusting.”
Tyson, 35, may be creative in the ring but that doesn’t make him a dab hand in the kitchen – which he’s only allowed in to eat his meals and hang out with the kids.

Paris continued: “Unsurprisingly, none of us would go near it – even Tyson decided to give it a miss – and five minutes later the whole lot went to the neighbour’s dog.
“Other than manning the summer barbecue (which, like with many men, appeals to his hunter-gatherer nature) my husband is now banned from any cooking duties.
“It’s just not worth the hassle.”
The pandemic, as it did with many families, brought the Fury clan – which got a little bigger this month – closer.

And like many people, Tyson developed a specific “craving” for meals close to his heart – in particular bacon pudding.
“Tyson really loved sampling bacon pudding again – it brought back all his boyhood memories – although it has to be off the menu if he’s training for a fight,” Paris recalled.
Paris knows all too well the importance of her hubby following a strict diet when he’s in training camp as she used to cook his meals before he hired a full-time nutritionist and chef.
She said: “Whenever that’s the case, Tyson has to follow a strict low-carb, protein-rich diet devised specifically by his nutritionist.
“Gone are the days when, as part of the #TeamFury entourage, it was my job to keep him well-fed and nourished before a big fight.
“He’s won many a title belt on my grilled salmon and roast vegetables.”
WBC heavyweight champion Fury won’t be inhaling any comfort food any time soon as he has back-to-back fights coming up.
The Wythenshawe warrior will lock horns with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in a controversial crossover clash on October 28.
And he’ll dive straight back into training camp for his long-overdue undisputed heavyweight title fight with unified king Oleksandr Usyk, which is currently in the works for December 23. More

The surprising item which Tyson Fury has ‘fetish’ for and loves ‘as much as his Ferrari’ – and even hides from his kids

TYSON FURY’S wife Paris revealed her legendary boxing husband has a “coffee fetish”.So much so that Tyson bought a coffee machine that he loves as much as his Ferrari.

The undefeated WBC champion is passionate about fast cars and has amassed an impressive collection, which includes a Porsche and of course a Ferrari.
However, Paris insists there is only one other thing the heavyweight likes as much as his cool rides and that is his coffee machine that makes him him his beloved Americanos.
The Gyspy King’s partner revealed in her autobiography Love and Fury: The Magic and Mayhem of Life with Tyson that her husband’s passion began during a training camp in the US.
The 35-year-old then bought a coffee machine that he is so enamored with that he keeps it in his main training ground in Morecambe so that his six children don’t “tamper” with it.

Paris wrote: “I’m quite content with Nescafe instant granules – fully caffeinated; I need that pep-up – and like it made very weak with lots of milk, but no sugar.
“If I’m having a hot drink in town, I’ll choose a latte or a flat white, nothing too strong or bitter for me.
“Tyson, on the other hand, has become a coffee connoisseur (or a ‘coffee snob’ as I call him).
“His obsession began when he was holed up in a US training camp that happened to have an all-singing, all-dancing coffee machine.

“A freshly made Americano – with hot steam milk – soon became his daily treat, something for him to really look forward to.
“Then, perhaps to break the monotony of camp life, he began to educate himself on the origins of the beans – Kenya, Brazil, Colombia – as well their various blends and roasts.
“When he returned to the UK, Tyson splashed out on his own top-of-the-range coffee machine.
“It’s his pride and joy (he loves it as much as his Ferrari, I reckon) and it’s kept permanently in his camp HQ in Morecambe so the kids can’t tamper with it.

Watson suffered a blood clot on his brain during his brutal 12th-round knockout loss to Chris Eubank Sr in their 1991 Tottenham tussle for the WBO super-middleweight title.
The 50-year-old collapsed in the ring and didn’t receive medical attention for a staggering 28 minutes, subsequently slipping into a 40-day coma.
Blackwell, 32, was placed into a medically-induced coma following the brutal beatdown he suffered in his 2016 British middleweight title fight with Chris Eubank Jr.
He recovered and promptly announced his retirement, although he found himself in another more damaging coma the following November after falling seriously ill following a sparring session.

He told SunSport: “My life is full and the British public have been wonderful to me. I can’t have regrets.
“As I said recently, we have to move on and I don’t bear any ill-will towards Chris.
