Harlem Eubank has Brighton rocking as savage right hook fells Timo Schwarzkopf… with proud uncle Chris Sr in his corner

HARLEM EUBANK got Brighton boxing its first home win in 32 years with a bang and uncle Chris Sr proudly in his corner. The iconic seaside town and long-time home of the Eubank fighting family had been starved of big-time boxing since British ring legend Chris Sr’s 1991 win over Dan Sherry at the Brighton Centre.

But his nephew returned to the same spot to chin dogged German visitor Timo Schwarzkopf in the 11th round and pay his father and former fighter Simon – who sadly died in September – a touching tribute.
The 32-year-old German kicked off the action with a looping right hand that landed and showed off Eubank’s genetic grit around the jaw.
The Brit eased into the contest and scored with impressive body shots, he also showed clever and forceful ring skills, moving the elder veteran around.
Schwarzkopf even hit the deck when the pair collided but the referee rightly ruled it a slip.

Baritone choruses of “You Bank” echoed around the Centre in the second round, just like in his uncle’s 1990s’ golden era.
Eubank’s childhood karate titles have left him with exciting and unorthodox footwork and it opened up a beautiful third-round knockdown.
A superb change of angles set-up an uppercut that stunned Schwarzkopf and turned his legs to jelly before his top half folded down upon his limbs.
The underdog did well to rise and recover while shipping more digs and hurling the odd haymaker back before the bell saved him.

Schwarzkopf, never stopped in 27 previous bouts, recovered for the fourth but kept getting stabbed by long rangy straight shots and chinned by close-up hooks and uppercuts.
Eubank lost a point on the fifth for low blows, it seemed harsh as they were clearly accidental but he had been warned by ref John Latham.
Gifted a big advantage, Schwarzkopf got greedy and punished with two slashing uppercuts through his guard right on the bell.
Kosovo-born Schwarzkopf never stopped slugging into the sixth and Eubank had to show a solid chin as well as tight defence.
It felt like Eubank’s engine started to flag in the second half of the fight, while Schwarzkopf had a warehouse full of kitchen sinks to chuck in his direction well beyond closing time.
The Hove audience was hushed in round eight when it looked like their hero was hurt and struggling. But he sparked back into life and action and left Schwarzkopf buzzed just before the bell.
The championship rounds seemed to be slipping away sleepily into the Sussex night.
But at 11:05pm Eubank landed a peach of a right hook and robbed Schwarzkopf of his senses and balance.
The brave visitor bounced back up off the canvas but the action was expertly waved off before he was hurt further.

The Brit eased into the contest and scored with impressive body shots, he also showed clever and forceful ring skills, moving the elder veteran around.

We’ll be bringing you round-by-round updates right here on SunSport.
    Eubank vs Schwarzkopf ring walks
Out comes Timo Schwarzkopf first to boos from the Brighton crowd.
The German does not look intimidated one bit though.
Here comes Harlem Eubank, flanked by uncle Chris Sr.
Harlem nearly made it in a different sport
Harlem was a Seagulls academy prospect and a karate world champion, who avoided boxing for the first 18 years of his life because of the burden that comes with following in famous footsteps.
But now the deep-thinking fighter – who sadly lost father Simon in September after a devastating battle with dementia – concedes it was probably a pre-written path for him.
He explained: “Sometimes, when you look back on life, it seems what you are meant to do is already laid out for you.
“My whole family boxed, dad, uncles, cousins. It must just be something that runs deep in our blood.
“I stopped wrestling with the idea of wanting to do this and accepted the idea that I am meant to do this.”
    What Harlem Eubank said
On the famous pier, Harlem told SunSport before tonight’s fight: “I wasn’t around when my uncle boxed there, my first memory of the Centre was seeing the Harlem Globetrotters there and later the Brighton Bears, lots of basketball.
“This is a great chance to see all my people there; family, friends, fellow Brightonians.
“I have been fighting on the road for a long time now, Newcastle, Edinburgh, London and now I have this chance to fight in the city where I grew up, that shaped me, helped to give me art, culture and creativity.
“It’s really special for me to do this because, while the football club is doing incredibly well and shining a light for the city, there isn’t much other mainstream sporting attention on us. So I aim to do everyone proud.
“I have told my uncle before how inspired I have been by what he has done and I am sure I will tell him again just before my fight.”
    Harlem Eubank up next
Harlem Eubank will be the latest family Globetrotter to bring big-time boxing home to the Brighton Centre in mere minutes.
The 29-year-old super-lightweight is headlining a show in the iconic seaside city for the first time in 32 years – since uncle Chris Sr in the very same spot.
The little cousin to Chris Jr wasn’t even alive to watch Sr’s 1991 first defence of the middleweight world title he had won from bitter nemesis Nigel Benn three months earlier.
But the venue has become a spiritual hub for the family and they return to take over the 5,000-seater for the Channel 5 clash with Timo Schwarzkopf.
    Mind the gap
About 20 minutes of my life to literally waste now.
No float fight, no trip to the bar, no nothing.
Just an agonising wait until 10pm when the Channel 5 show will start and Harlem Eubank will fight.
What the hell on earth should I do?
    Richards wins decision
After eight impossible-to-watch rounds, Lerrone Richards puts the Brighton crowd to sleep but not his opponent.
The slickest of talents but a steafast refusal to ever even consider leaving second gear.
    Buzz kill.
    Richards vs Ellison R5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
You know the drill by now; Richards boxes beautifully out of the southpaw stance, counter punches to perfection, bobs, weaves, slips, slides, wins on points.
But nobody saw it because they were all at the bar or toilet.
I am pretty sure I saw one bloke polish his shoes during a couple of rounds.
Masterful pugilism. But dull as dishwater.
    Richards vs Ellison R4
If you put Lerrone Richards in a 6-18-18-28 round fight, I think the outcome would always be the same.
A unanimous decision win, barely a mark on him, a one-sided triumph.
That shouldn’t be boring, but it really, really is.
Even Mickey Ellison looks disinterested and he’s getting punched in the head every 10 seconds.
    Richards vs Ellison R2
Ellison’s face is already showing signs of abuse without Richards looking like he’s broken sweat.
But the Blackburn lad is here to cause a massive upset and is chasing Richards around the ring throwing shots.
But the Londoner is making him miss and making him pay.
    Richards vs Ellison R1
Typically crisp and accurate counter-punching from Richards.
But nothing that will grab attention.
The boy is talented but has a bad habit for coasting.
    Richards vs Ellison R1
AFC Wimbledon fan Lerrone Richards will restart his career again tonight against 14-5 Ellison.
The Carshalton lad is caked with talent but has had a nomadic start, moving trainers and promoters too much, too soon.
Richards will win well here but at 17-0 he should be on live TV and fighting for titles.
    Welch wins TKO R4
    Vergara down again.
    Welch scores the hat-trick.
Vergara beats the count again but takes another pasting and the towel rightly comes in to save him.
    Welch vs Vergara 4
All hail the courage of Jonathan Vergara who was dropped twice in the opening round but has now started the fourth.
The bullish Argie is still throwing big shots – he’s missing by country miles, but boy is he hurling them.
Welch in cruise control but a decision will not look good after such a bright start. More

They then shared photos of her baby bump and their three-year-old boy, who was “excited” to become a big brother.
The new arrival’s due date was in March 2024 but the man nicknamed “The Mountain” has now revealed the tragic news on social media.
The Icelandic professional strongman shared on Instagram: “Grace Morgan Hafthorsdottir born Nov 8th at 21 1/2 weeks gestation.”
Thor, who has competed in four boxing bouts and amassed two wins and two draws, and Kelsey said that after a “noticeable decrease in movement” it was then discovered that their daughter’s heart had stopped beating.

Along with photos from the stillbirth, a statement on Instagram from the couple read:
“T.W stillbirth/delayed miscarriage. It is with great sorrow that we announce the birth of our daughter, Grace Morgan Hafthorsdottir born Nov 8th at 21 1/2 weeks gestation.
“After a noticeable decrease in movement we found out her heart had stopped beating.
“Words cannot describe our pain of this loss or our happiness at being able to spend time with our daughter.

“She is absolutely beautiful, with blonde lashes and brows and a little smile for mom and dad.”
The heartbroken star and his partner continued: “The love we feel for her is overwhelming. The grief we feel will be with us forever but so will the love.
“All of our hopes and dreams for her have been taken away from us but I know I will be with her again. Her spirit lives on through us and her siblings.
“We ask that you respect our privacy at this time as we grieve this unbearable loss. Thank you all for any kind words and support.”
What is a stillbirth?A stillbirth is when a baby is born dead after 24 completed weeks of pregnancy. It happens in around 1 in every 200 births in England.
If the baby dies before 24 completed weeks, it’s known as a miscarriage.
Contact your midwife or doctor straightaway if you’re pregnant and worried about your baby – for example, if you’ve noticed your baby moving less than usual.
Don’t wait until the next day. If your baby is moving less, it can be a sign that something’s wrong and needs to be checked out.
Some stillbirths are linked to complications with the placenta, a birth defect or with the mother’s health. For others, no cause is found.

Canadian Kelsey, 33, studied Occupational Health and Safety at the University of Alberta and then worked as a waitress and in construction after graduating.
Then a chance meeting with GOT star Bjornsson took her life on a different path.
That occurred in September 2017 as the strongman visited Kelsey’s diner while he was in town for a lifting competition and the star-struck waitress asked him for a selfie after recognising him from the hit HBO drama.
They instantly hit it off and have been together ever since, with Kelsey following her man into the weightlifting scene. The couple regularly post updates on Instagram of their feats and have since opened a fitness centre called Thor’s Power Gym.

The Ukrainian is set to fight Tyson Fury sometime next year after the December 23rd date was scrapped following the Gypsy King’s bruising points win over Francis Ngannou.
However, Zhang believes Usyk is “unproven” in the ring, earning his belts only after fighting a “declining” Joshua, but did acknowledge that his path to earning his titles was far from easy.
Speaking to ProBoxTV, he said: “[Usyk is] unproven.
