But he now believes his skills and starpower has surpassed that of the UFC legend.
Paul told DAZN: “A fight between me and McGregor would be massive, entertaining and fun. I would beat his ass but he wont fight me.
“At this point you can see how it went from me calling him out and that seeming crazy to me being bigger in the sport than he is and him knowing my skill level is greater than his in such a short amount time. Life is crazy.”
McGregor, 35, has boxed as a pro just once when he crossed over to the ring in 2017 to lose to American legend Floyd Mayweather, 46.

Paul, 26, bounced back in August by beating McGregor’s old UFC rival Nate Diaz, 38, on points.
But he now returns against little-known August in a non pay-per-view bout as he looks to gain more experience against seasoned pros.

Conor McGregor bizarrely faces off with UFC star TWO weight divisions below as boxing match in 2024 is teased

CONOR McGREGOR bizarrely faced off with Petr Yan as a boxing match between the two was teased. The pair of UFC stars – who are two weight divisions apart – attended an IBA boxing event in Dubai when they went head to head in the ring.
UFC star Petr Yan and Conor McGregor going face to face
Umar Kremlev – president of the International Boxing Association – then announced that the pair would meet in the ring next year.
But the UFC would be sure to disagree.
UFC fighters are prohibited from competing outside of the promotion unless granted special permission.
McGregor was given so in 2017 for his crossover bout with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, which ended in tenth-round defeat.

But heavyweight Francis Ngannou walked out on the UFC last year after being denied the chance to do the same.
He instead signed for rivals The Professional Fighters League and fought Tyson Fury, controversially losing on points after scoring a knockdown.
McGregor, 35, is out in Dubai training for his UFC return, which is set for next year against Michael Chandler.
He is finally on track for a comeback bout, which will be his first since July 2021.

He has suffered a frustrating period on the sidelines since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier, 34.
But after returning to the UFC’s all-year round random drug testing program, he will be eligible to fight again.
Chandler, 37, has had frustrations of his own waiting for the bout to materialise but the American is willing to wait it out.
He said on The MMA Hour: “I’ve fought extremely hard.
“Some very, very tough fights I’ve had since I came into the UFC, especially [since] I fought everybody inside the top five basically.
“Fights of the Year, Knockouts of the Year, all of those different things.
“So any time I find myself being frustrated, I believe I’m always able to go back to my north star that, hey, it’s going to work out the way it’s going to, just like me coming to the UFC.
“That door stayed closed until it was time for that door to open.
“The door opening for this fight with Conor, whenever it’s finally supposed to be, it will be, and I’m just being at peace in the midst of the waiting.”

I hurt Deontay Wilder and was KO’d by Anthony Joshua – I could see AJ knocking out Tyson Fury

HEAVYWEIGHT Eric Molina is in the unique position of having fought both Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder. Molina in 2015 challenged Wilder for the WBC world title and even had the American hurt with a left hook.

But the Bronze Bomber caught up with the challenger and knocked him out in round nine.
A year later, he faced Joshua for the IBF belt in Manchester but was stopped in just three rounds.
And Molina predicted AJ’s ferocious combination-punching could be a key to victory over his great rival Tyson Fury.
He told iFL TV in 2021: “I can see Anthony Joshua knocking out Tyson Fury. I can see that happening.

“If you look at Tyson Fury, he does some things similar to me defensively against Wilder, which was to stay away from one or two big shots.
“I’ve always had my strength of when I sparred big punchers, I’ve always said bring me the bigger punchers because I could see one, two, or three shots. I could get a read.
“Wilder gives you a big read like [winding up his shots]. He’s coming hard, but he’s giving me all that.
“So by the time I see that, I’m moving. I’m not just going to stand there. The ones that stand there [covering up] against Wilder, you’re going to get hurt.

“I already knew that I wasn’t just going to pick my gloves up to take a shot like that. The same way Fury does not do that.
“What Joshua does, he doesn’t give you that boom. He’s very fluid with his punches. He comes with three, four, five, maybe even a six.”
Molina, 41, last fought in March in a seventh-round defeat to Canadian Simon Kean, 34.
Joshua, 34, and Wilder, 38, meanwhile return on the same card in Saudi Arabia but in separate bouts.
AJ faces Otto Wallin, 32, while Wilder returns against Joseph Parker, 31, as a blockbuster in 2024 awaits the pair should they win.

Tyson Fury hearing today as dad John arrives at court over £82,000 council tax row at their £1million mansion

TYSON Fury faces a court hearing today alongside his dad and brother after being accused of dodging a whopping £82,000 council tax bill for a car park at their £1million mansion. The two-time heavyweight boxing champion, 35, bought the property with his father John, 59, and sibling Shane, 32, which is just a stone’s throw from where they grew up.

John has arrived at Chester magistrates court for the hearing – but Tyson, who is worth £130million, is not currently in the country after jetting out to Saudi Arabia last week on a private jet.
Shane is also absent for the hearing.
John currently lives at the house in Styal, Cheshire, and the trio – worth jointly over £134million – have failed to cough up £82,166.85 to Cheshire East Council for the adjoining car park, court documents claim.
Multiple caravans and motorhomes are parked on the land behind impressive big black gates at the entrance to the home.
    MORE ON FURY
The hearing could see the Furys be hit with a liability order if found guilty, or in extreme cases even face up to three months in jail.
If granted, they could face “enforcement action”, meaning an unlucky bailiff will be given the unenviable task of reclaiming assets from the boxing family.
Married dad-of-seven Tyson dubbed The Gypsy King, is 6ft 9in.
John is a 6ft 3in ex-pro boxer and bare-knuckle fighter, who once went to jail for gouging a man’s eye out.

Shane is a former superheavyweight amateur boxer.
Tyson also has other boxing brothers, including Love Island star Tommy, 24.
Barrister Sarah Robson, a fixed costs specialist at Alpha Court Chambers, said: “Often, the first time people realise a liability order has been granted is when bailiffs are sent round.
“Cases are often sent to magistrates in batches of hundreds and sometimes thousands, and they are rubber stamped without real scrutiny.” More

Anthony Joshua’s tell-tale sign he ‘fears’ Deontay Wilder, according to Bronze Bomber

DEONTAY WILDER claimed he sensed “fear” in Anthony Joshua when they finally came face to face. The heavyweight stars will share the same card on December 23 in Saudi Arabia but in separate bouts.

And they went eye to eye at the press conference to announce the stunning pay-per-view card.
But Joshua, 34, refused to call out his American rival on the top table.
And Wilder, 38, said on The Last Stand podcast: “Every time my name comes up he goes the other way.
“And it’s always been like this for almost a decade now. It’s been like that because of the fear that Joshua has towards me.

“It’s because of what I’m capable of doing in that ring. We’ve seen it, women lie, men lie but numbers don’t lie.
“The proof is in the pudding and I’ve displayed this over and over and over again.
“It’s a thing that I understand but I don’t understand, you see something that can potentially happen and this man shows it over and over again.
“I understand that part but this is the hurt business, this is what we signed up for bro, to be warriors.”

Joshua returns against Swedish southpaw Otto Wallin, 32, who famously left Tyson Fury, 35, needing 47 stitches in his 2019 loss.
Meanwhile, Wilder faces ex-WBO champion Joseph Parker, 31, who is a training partner of Fury’s.
The Bronze Bomber and AJ are lined up for a blockbuster in 2024 should they leave Riyadh victorious.
But when probed, Wilder said: “My main focus right now is doing what I need to do on December 23rd.
“I’ve got to get past Joseph Parker first and then we will talk about the future plans after that.”

Cheshire East Council claim that the trio owe the sum for property adjoining their £1million mansion in Styal.
Magistrates are set to issue a legal order demanding that the trio pay up.
Failure to do so could lead to “enforcement action” – which would involve a bailiff being sent to reclaim assets.
The council tax demand relates to land used for caravans and motorhomes adjoining the £1m Styal mansion in Cheshire.
