Oleksandr Usyk says he has been preparing to fight Tyson Fury for NINE YEARS… in bid to avenge Wladimir Klitschko

OLEKSANDR USYK said he has been preparing to fight Tyson Fury for NINE YEARS – ever since Ukrainian icon Wladimir Klitschko was beaten. Fury in 2015 dethroned the boxing legend in a famous upset to become the unified heavyweight world champion.

He is now in his second reign and almost a decade on from stunning Klitschko, he faces Usyk in a historic undisputed title decider.
Usyk – who has twice beaten Anthony Joshua – revealed he has secretly had his eyes on the Gypsy King ever since.
He said in a leaked TNT Sports face to face: “I’ve been preparing for this fight for a few years now, since he beat Wladimir.
“He didn’t know about me back then because I wasn’t famous in the world of boxing, but I have been preparing for him and Anthony Joshua from the very beginning. Since I started professional boxing.”

The unbeaten champions collide on February 17 in Saudi Arabia, marking the first time all four heavyweight belts have been on the line.
Despite the historic and monumental occasion – which Usyk waited nearly a decade for – Fury claimed he was only dedicating five weeks worth of training to it.
He said: “I train four or five weeks for these fights.
“Please, like I trained 12 weeks for Wilder and everybody else! Four or five weeks, how much training does a man need?

Francis Ngannou’s boxing coach hails MMA star as ‘the hardest puncher in the world’ in stark warning to Anthony Joshua

ANTHONY JOSHUA has been warned he faces “the hardest puncher in the world” in Francis Ngannou. The humongous heavyweight pair meet in a crossover clash on March 8 in Saudi Arabia.

And when they came face to face for the first time at a press conference, Ngannou questioned Joshua’s punch resilience.
His boxing coach Dewey Cooper has now clarified those comments – with the MMA star possessing the power to be ultra confident.
Cooper told DAZN: “The bottom line is when you bring pressure and an imposing style to break your opponent down, like Anthony Joshua going on the front foot against Otto Wallin, there is a level of trepidation, a level of danger when you are fighting a guy who has knockout power.
“Especially against a guy who has one punch knockout power like Francis Ngannou does. Me as a coach, I don’t discount Joshua’s chin.

“He’s an Olympic Gold medallist, a two-time heavyweight boxing world champion, I know his pedigree, I know his talent.
“But when you are Francis Ngannou, when you are registered as the hardest puncher in the world you feel that way about everyone you come up against. That’s a great way to feel going into a fight.”
Ngannou, 37, astonishingly dropped Tyson Fury, 35, on his boxing debut in October before controversially losing on points.
Despite defeat, the ex-UFC champion proceeds to fight Joshua, 34, in only his second boxing bout and aimed a dig at the British superstar.

He said: “I’m going to fight him, so what do you think I’m going to do? Look for his chin.
“I mean, that’s what happens in a fight. In a fight, you try to hit somebody in the chin or wherever you can hit him, right?
“Yes, I heard that he doesn’t have a chin. I don’t know if it’s true or not. We are going to find out.
“I hope I get the opportunity to test that out. That’s my wish, that’s what I’m wishing for.”

Tommy Fury’s dad John says KSI must APOLOGISE to have any chance of rematch and provides update on talks with Jake Paul

JOHN FURY warned KSI must APOLOGISE in order for him to consider a rematch with his son Tommy – amid fight talks with Jake Paul. Last year Tommy beat the pair of YouTubers-turned boxers.

He first edged past Paul via split-decision last February in Saudi Arabia before moving onto a mega-fight with KSI.
But the build-up was marred in bitterness and KSI even spat gum at John during an open workout.
Son Tommy went onto win a controversial six-round decision but still tension remains between the two camps.
John told the Daily Mail, via Free Bets: “We’re not interested in KSI. Not for a trillion dollars.

“Unless he comes up with an apology and decides to be a man, we want no part of it.
“He lost to Tommy on his own show. I know he’s aged about 10 or 15 years because of it. People like him, their egos are so big they just can’t move on from it.
“That will be his downfall. He needs to look in the mirror and take some lessons off real men on how to be one. You can’t disrespect people think you’re it.
“At the end of the day, up until the spitting job, up until the BS, he was doing a great job. Him and Logan Paul.

“But, at the end of the day, Pauls are a different class to him. They’re not spitting at people. They are having verbal disagreements. That’s all part of the game.
“Spitting at people is a reptiles job. That’s something the scum of the earth does.
“I am no posh person, I am probably one step off the bottom but I don’t spit at people. I don’t disrespect people in that way.
“It becomes hatred and no one can do their job properly then.”
KSI, 30, announced he would take time out from boxing following his first loss but has since revealed he will fight again this year.
Meanwhile Fury, 24, has undergone hand surgery for an injury in which he said has hampered him for four years.
Paul, 27, bounced back from his defeat with two wins and returns on March 2 on the undercard of Amanda Serrano’s Puerto Rico homecoming.
But he revealed talks with the Fury family are back underway.
And John added: “We spoke to them about six weeks ago and we’ve not heard anything since.

AJ currently stands as the WBC’s No1 ranked challenger meaning if he is victorious, he could be mandated to face Fury.
WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman told Gambling.com: “He has had a sensational career and if he beats Francis Ngannou, then he is number one in the WBC while Francis Ngannou is number 10 so the winner will certainly be positioned for great things in the immediate future.”
Ngannou put his MMA career on hold last year to fight Fury on his boxing debut.
And he amazingly scored a knockdown only to be beaten via controversial split-decision.

Fury, 35, now faces Oleksandr Usyk, 36, on February 17 in Saudi for the undisputed heavyweight crown.

Winners of the two super-fights could meet but as it stands, Fury and Usyk are already contracted to a rematch.

Tyson Fury ready to tell head trainer to ‘sod you’ and ignore instructions for mouthwatering Usyk fight, says dad John

Fury Snr is convinced that Tyson has what it takes to beat the Ukrainian heavyweight without the help of his trainer SugarHill Steward.
The 59-year-old has been critical of Fury’s long-term coach after the Brit’s disappointing performance against Francis Ngannou last year and labelled Steward’s instructions as “pathetic”.
And now he has claimed that Tyson will tell Steward to “sod off” if his tactics aren’t working ahead of his fight with Usyk.
Speaking to the Daily Star, he said: “The best team and the best man will win on the night.

“Can I compare SugarHill and with what I’m seeing with the rest of the team, with Usyk? From the last showing, definitely not.
“Everyone is entitled to the benefit of the doubt, but if they get it wrong, it’s a bad place to be wrong, the Heavyweight undisputed Championship of the World. It’s a bad place for an error.
“But Tyson’s that good, his balls are that big, and he’ll just say, ‘sod you’, just get me a drink and let me do my own thing.
“Like he did in the last three rounds with Ngannou. The instructions he was getting last time were pathetic.”

John Fury didn’t stop there either as he called on Steward’s team to improve on their coaching from Fury’s last bout.
He explained: “They’ve got to give it a 100 per cent improvement. Anything less, well, they’ve dropped the ball, haven’t they?
“Whether they can or whether they can’t, I don’t know. What I heard last time, it was all about this 12-week camp… all they need to do is start impressing me.”
John Fury has previously called on Tyson to sack SugarHill while likening him to “Judas”.
The countdown to Fury’s fight is well and truly on as boxing fans anticipate an all-timer between the two heavyweight titans.

Meet Chev Clarke, the undefeated cruiserweight on the brink of winning British title and potential new star of UK boxing

CHEV CLARKE is on a mission to become a household name this year – which he hopes to end with a British title in his possession. The 2020 Olympian has blown through all cruiserweight comers since turning pro in February 2022, racking up seven wins on the bounce.

Three of those victories came in what most would have deemed to have been an active and impressive seven-month spell month last year.
But not Jamaican-born Brit Clarke, who told SunSport: “I would’ve liked to have had a few more fights, if I’m being honest. Especially last year.
“A lot of people would gas it up a bit more, but it’s been okay. I’ve won and for now the boxing people like me. So long may continue.”
He added: “I’ve levelled up each time I’ve fought. And I’d love to fight a bit more frequently.

“A lot of people would say it’s frequent, but when you know what you can do and you know what you signed up for [it’s a bit frustrating].”
Clarke’s ambitions for 2024 are crystal clear: become a recognised name in as many outings as possible and get his hands on the British cruiserweight title.
“I’ve been the mandatory [challenger] for eight months before Issac got the belt,” Clarke lamented. “So to be fighting for another mandatory is a bit mad considering I’m already mandatory.
“But I’m not the one who pulls those cards. Also, people need to put more respect on the fact and realise I was mandatory for the British [title] after six fights.

“Nobody wants to talk about it or nobody wants to push it. But put some more respect on it.
“Out of all the Olympians, who is doing what I’m doing? Other than Galal Yafai, who is doing what Chev is doing? There’s no one.”
Clarke insists it will be his fists, not his mouth, that will do the talking as he chips away for more recognition.
“I feel like there should be a buzz [about me], he said. “But like I said, other than Galal, I’ve made the most progress in terms of being a professional.”
He added: “I’m just gonna work hard, turn up and execute.”
One can forgive Clarke for having the British title – which is adorned around the waist of Issac Chamberlain – on his mind ahead of his ring return tomorrow night as he was mandated to fight for the belt last June.
Cross-promotional issues have seemingly delayed his bid to get his hands on the prestigious belt, which has resulted in the booking of a Belfast bust-up with Tommy McCarthy on Saturday night.
On paper, former EBU cruiserweight champion McCarthy will present Clarke with one of the tougher challenges of his professional career.
Some have even gone to describe the fight as a potential “banana skin”, a notion which amused Clarke.
He said: “Every fight is a banana skin. It is, isn’t it? Every fight is a banana skin. People are talking like you come into these fights and the opposition ain’t got no chance.

“We’re big guys, all it takes is one punch. From middleweight or super-middleweight upwards, all it takes is one punch.
“So to say this is, ‘Oh, this banana skin,’ I that’s like basic boxing talk. You don’t really know what you what you’re saying. Every fight is a banana skin.”
He added: “It is [a step up] in terms of what he’s done and attempted to do but that doesn’t mean nothing to me.
“When we fight, what I’ve done, what he’s done is irrelevant to me because it’s a new fight, it’s a new day and I will win on the 27th.”
Clarke is brimming with confidence ahead of his first outing of the year but is refusing to make a flat-out prediction for the fight.
He said: “You can plan all you want and you can say, ‘I’m gonna do this, I’m gonna do that’.
“But when a man is in front of you and you have to think on your feet, that’s when you really see a person.
“You can talk all you want. Outside the ring, you can talk all you want.
“But it’s when you’re in there is when you find out who you really are and if you’re really about it. So, we’ll see how it goes.”
With some of the biggest names in British boxing – Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury included – approaching the twilight of their careers, fans are turning their attention to the next crop of potential stars.
Clarke has all the makings of one with the looks, style, stopping power and even the support of the vegan community.
But he knows all the accolades that come with fulfilling his dreams of becoming a champion won’t come unless he ticks off his short-term goals one by one.

“I’d like to definitely have four fights this year – by the end of December,” he said. “And get a bit more experience with the rounds.
