Inside Jake Paul’s training camp to fight Mike Perry where his power is so ‘crazy’ sparring partners have been sent home

JAKE PAUL is punching so hard in training to fight Mike Perry that his sparring partners have been sent packing. The YouTuber-turned-prizefighter returns over the weekend in Florida against former UFC star and now bare-knuckle boxer Perry.Jake Paul and sparring partner Jake BostwickCredit: instagram @brutalbostwickBefore his boxing days, Jake Paul was a popular YouTuberCredit: instagram @jakepaulPaul was initially set to face Mike Tyson on the same date but in Texas – until the heavyweight icon pulled out amid a health precaution. The controversial fight—scrutinized for their 30-year age gap—has since been postponed to November 15.However, Paul – who last fought in March – decided to roll the dice and remain in the ring to keep his lucrative boxing career moving. It meant switching around his sparring partners, having assembled a team of shorter heavyweights to replicate 58-year-old Iron Mike.So Paul quickly called on an old friend and secret weapon ahead of his bout against Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship’s Perry. Brit Jake Bostwick – a bare-knuckle boxer himself – has been a regular in Paul’s previous training camps. So, when the opponent was switched to Perry, it was a no-brainer to transfer Bostwick to the Puerto Rico training base. And Bostwick revealed it has been a survival of the fittest in camp—but one he has stood the test of time for. Most read in Boxing”I come in because I give them good work. And honestly, I can survive,” he told SunSport. “Anyone else that comes out at the spar normally gets sent home with injuries or they just can’t hang. Real talk it really is like that.I was there for Jake Paul’s sparring session with Mike Perry and here is why their fight will not last long “Even a few days ago everyone else got sent home and it was just me and coaches like JLeon are like, ‘Jake bro, it’s always you that’s left.'”I was like, I’m soldiering on son.”Paul’s assistant coach J’Leon Love – a former 25–3–1 boxer – was the one who invited Bostwick back into camp. And Love, along with head trainer Theo Chambers, are the ones deciding which paid sparring partners stay or go.Bostwick revealed: “The coaches are sending people home if they’re not performing or they’re getting pieced up, they get sent home.”So you gotta be able to take some shots, give some shots and still give them a look, you know? And like I said, Jake’s never easy sparring.”And he’s firing on all cylinders, 16oz gloves, headgear or not it’s still a problem.”Paul first recruited Bostwick, 34, before the American knocked out former MMA champion Ben Askren, 39, in 2021.The coaches are sending people home if they’re not performing or they’re getting pieced up, they get sent home.Jake Paul’s sparring partner Jake Bostwick The same year, they also sparred before Paul’s pair of wins over ex-UFC champ Tyron Woodley, 42, on points and then KO. Around the same time, Perry, 32, also sparred Paul, 27, in a session that has been widely disputed in the lead-up to their boxing bout. However, Bostwick insisted Perry is in for a rude awakening if he is banking on Paul being the same boxer as he was all those years ago.He said: “His power is crazy, bro. “Every time we spar, I’m just like, I hope you don’t catch me with something, he does punch hard, he really, really does.”He’s definitely got significantly better, his movement, everything’s way better. “And I think even Perry sparred with him back in the day around the Ben Askren time.”That’s when he moved with him as well. So for Perry to remember that, and then to see how he is now, I think that’s gonna be a bit of a shocker.” Bostwick has traveled with Paul’s team to Tampa ahead of the scheduled eight-round fight – but does not expect the final bell to sound.READ MORE SUN STORIESHe predicted: “I honestly think Jake can stop Perry within, like, four or five rounds. “Stop him. Either knockout to the head, to the body, but I think he could for sure hurt him and get a stoppage. I genuinely believe that.” More

KSI faced with accepting Jake Paul’s ‘outrageous’ and ‘unfair’ terms to secure huge £100m YouTube grudge fight

KSI could be forced into accepting “outrageous” and “unfair” terms in order to finally fight Jake Paul. The pair of YouTube sensations-turned-boxers have rivalled for well over half a decade – fuelling demand for a bitter grudge match. KSI could have to accept ‘outrageous’ and ‘unfair’ terms to fight Jake PaulCredit: PAJake Paul has fought as high as 200lbCredit: @jakepaulBut the latest hurdle in talks looks to be the weight difference between the feuding duo. KSI has fought as light as 175lb whereas Paul’s last two bouts have been at the 200lb cruiserweight limit. Both lost to Tommy Fury and scaled around the 183lb mark. Paul has since moved up in weight and claimed his body is too naturally big to suck back down to a 185lb catchweight. READ MORE IN BOXINGWhereas KSI’s team argue the British superstar is already way out of his comfort zone by bulking up to 185lb as it is. But, his boxing coach Alexis Demetriades insisted they would be willing to make the compromise in order to at last face Paul. Demetriades told SunSport: “I can be brutally honest with you, we’ve asked for that fight a lot. “It was offered 175, 180, cool no problem let’s do it. (Jake) didn’t want to do it. Most read in BoxingCASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO WELCOME OFFERS“Remember, JJ’s fought at 170, he’s gone up to 175, 182 for Tommy, we’ll go up to 185. How much more do you want JJ to go up in weight? “So let’s meet in the middle, Jake’s fought at 183, we’ll go up to 185. So we’ll go up past what he fought Tommy Fury at, which is outrageous. KSI targets revenge fight against Floyd Mayweather and wants to ‘KILL’ boxing legend for how he treated brother Deji“That’s 15-20lb more than JJ fights at. So we’re giving up that much plus a weight cut. And Jake still doesn’t want to do it. “What do you want JJ to do? Put dumbbells in his pockets when he weighs in? Literally, I don’t know what else to offer.”Since losing to Fury, 25, Paul, 27, has gone on to win three more times and returns on July 20.He does so against ex-UFC star-turned-bare-knuckle-boxer Mike Perry, 32, after his heavyweight showdown against Mike Tyson, 58, was postponed.KSI, 31, meanwhile has not fought since suffering his first defeat last October to Fury via controversial decision. He makes his comeback on August 31 in Dublin in a wild two-on-one handicap bout against Anthony Taylor, 34, and Slim Albaher, 29. But the biggest blockbuster remains between KSI and Paul – which Demetriades admitted in the past could be worth £100MILLION. And despite believing his man will have to fight way beyond his natural weight class – they are ready to make the sacrifice. Demetriades said: “There’s an element where there’s an unfair safety advantage. “Weight divisions are there for a reason, right? So at what point do we stop? “I said to JJ, we want to get this kid, OK let’s go up to 185. He fought at 183, we’ll go up to 185 which is nuts because JJ is not naturally that heavy.“He’s not a natural 185er, the second he gets into camp he comes down. But for that fight, how huge it is and the magnitude of it. “And, stylistically as well I think we have this guy’s number. That’s just what fighting is about. Chris Eubank Jr makes major career change as he eyes huge Canelo Alvarez fight and two British grudge bouts

CHRIS EUBANK JR has found a new home for his boxing career. The son of British icon Eubank Sr has penned a “historic” deal with Sky Sports and promotional partner Boxxer. Chris Eubank Jr has signed for Boxxer and Sky SportsCredit: Richard Pelham / The SunEubank’s last five bouts have all been on Sky – the last two coming on pay-per-view against Liam Smith. He was shockingly knocked out by Smith, 35, in January 2023 but avenged the loss with an equally savage stoppage last September. But Eubank has not boxed since despite recent emerging as a shock contender to face Mexican icon Canelo Alvarez this year. And Canelo was among the four names on his mind after announcing his latest move. READ MORE IN BOXINGEubank, 34, said: “I’ve been in the game for 12 years now and I’m still hungry. I’m still excited. I’m still in love with the sport of boxing. “I’m in a blessed position right now where there are four or five different names out there that are mega fights that everybody wants to see. “Canelo Alvarez, Terence Crawford, Conor Benn, Billy Joe Saunders – and that’s just off the top of my head. “There are many more fights out there that can be made, even domestically, so I’m in an exciting position.”Most read in BoxingCASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO WELCOME OFFERSEubank was beaten by former world champ Saunders, 34, in 2014 and they have been linked with a bitter rematch ever since. In 2022, he signed for a sensational fight against Benn, 26, nearly three decades removed from their fathers’ famous rematch. But the bout was pulled with only days to go after Benn failed a drug test – which he is still serving a British Boxing Board of Control suspension for. The likes of Crawford, 36, and Canelo, 33, have emerged as more surprising names to be linked with Eubank. But the middleweight is among the final shortlist of opponents being considered by Canelo for his anticipated return in September. And promoter Ben Shalom said: “I’m incredibly excited to work with Chris to make sure we fully realise his huge potential and fierce ambition. “We’ve had the privilege of working with Chris on some massive fight nights in the UK and there will be plenty more to come in the UK and worldwide. “He is a bonafide pay-per-view star.
