Dillian Whyte FAILS drug test with huge Anthony Joshua fight AXED after shock result

DILLIAN WHYTE’s rematch with Anthony Joshua is OFF following a THIRD career-failed drug test. The long-time rivals were due to renew their 14-year-long feud in a tasty domestic dust-up at the O2 Arena next Saturday.

But a third career failed drug test from Whyte has scuppered the fightCredit: GETTY
It’s currently unknown what substance Whyte tested positive forCredit: PA
But an “adverse analytical finding” in one of Whyte’s recent voluntary drug tests has laid waste to the fight.
A Matchroom Boxing statement read: “Today, the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) informed Matchroom, the Association of Boxing Commissions and the British Boxing Board of Control that Dillian Whyte had returned adverse analytical findings as part of a random anti-doping protocol.
“In light of this news, the fight will be cancelled, and a full investigation will be conducted.
“Further information on the event will follow.”
Promoter Eddie Hearn quickly took to Twitter after news of Whyte’s potential doping violation became public.
The Matchroom chief tweeted: “BREAKING..more updates to follow shortly.”
The substance Whyte tested positive for is currently unknown.

But SunSport understands TWO failed tests came back from Vada.

If they haven’t already, the B-samples for both failed tests will also be examined by VADA.
Fan favourite Whyte has vowed to clear his name, saying: “I am shocked and devastated to learn of a report by VADA of adverse findings relating to me.
“I only learned of itĀ this morningĀ and am still reacting to it.
“I have also just seen the fight is being cancelled without having any chance to demonstrate my innocence before the decision was taken.
“I can confirm without a shadow of a doubt that I have not take the reported substance, in this camp or at any point in my life.
“I am completely innocent and ask to be given the time to go through the process of proving this without anybody jumping to conclusions or a trial by media.”
Former WBC heavyweight title challenger Whyte is no stranger to anti-doping controversies.
Whyte, 35, tested positive for the banned stimulant Methylhexaneamine after his 2012 victory over Sandor Balogh.

Dillian Whyte has vowed to prove his innocenceCredit: Reuters
The substance found its way into Whyte’s system through a banned and since discontinued pre-workout supplement, which landed him a two-year suspension.
His second anti-doping violation occurred ahead of his interim WBC heavyweight title fight with Oscar Rivas in 2019.
One of his pre-fight tests returned traces of the banned anabolic steroid Dianabol.
But he was cleared by UKAD of intentionally taking the performance-enhancing drug due to the “extremely low” levels of the substance found in his system.
Former unified heavyweight champion Joshua was looking to use Whyte as a stepping stone for a long-awaited grudge match with Deontay Wider.
And SunSport understands Matchroom will try to draft in a late replacement to keep their poster boy on the card.
    Read More on The Sun
It’s understood DAZN will make the fight a non-pay-per-view bout if a last-minute replacement is successfully found.
SunSport has reached out to Dillian Whyte’s team for further comment. More

I’m a two-time Olympic boxing medallist.. now I’m trying my hand at new sport but it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done

FORMER Olympic boxer Paddy Barnes has turned to a new sport after retiring from boxing in 2019.The 36-year-old declared he has “fallen in love” with CrossFit after training at the KVLR gym in Belfast since hanging up his gloves.

He will compete in his first CrossFit competition in Northern Ireland this month.
Barnes is a two-time Olympic bronze medallist who also won gold representing Northern Ireland in the 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth games.
The former flyweight fought nine times as a professional after moving into the paid ranks in 2016, challenging for a world title at Windsor Park in 2018.
He said he has fallen in love with CrossFit despite admitting it’s the “hardest thing I’ve done”.
    READ MORE ON BOXING
Barnes told Belfast Live: “I absolutely love it, and I don’t know why. I go in and it is the hardest training I have done in my life, but I am addicted to it.
“And there could be worse things you could be addicted to, know what I mean?
“This morning I did 100 double unders (skipping), 16 devil presses which went down in twos. It took me 11 minutes and nearly killed me, but I had been on the drink all weekend.
“I remember my first session I ever did in CrossFit. I had to take a week off work after it to recover.

“I did a thing called the ‘Murph’ which is a mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 press-ups, 300 squats and a mile run again. And I couldn’t function for a week.

“I would fly through it now though.”
CrossFit is a branded fitness regimen that was developed by Greg Glassman and Lauren Jenai in 2000.
The exercise style combines a weight-lifting training style with developing cardiovascular fitness through high intensity exercise.
Barnes says CrossFit has allowed him to refocus after a few wayward years.
“I retired from boxing in 2019, and ever since then I have been eating and drinking,” he joked.
“But to be fair I have done a lot of running as I enjoy it, things like 5ks and all that.
“I run around the Waterworks which kept me ticking over for a while. But the CrossFit was a shock to the system.
“I love it though, I really do. I want to apply myself a bit more.
“I have competition at the end of the month in Mallusk, in a team of three. There are loads of competitions in the south of Ireland which I might enter to see how I get on, but give myself time to prepare properly for it.
“The Mallusk competition is intermediate standard. I am fit but I am not strong enough for the proper elite stage.

“I would be kidding myself if I said yes to one of those competitions.”
When asked if he misses boxing at all, Barnes said: “Definitely not. I don’t mind not getting punched in the face.” More

Huge sporting event facing extinction after 93 years due to potential £1.57bn bill

THE COMMONWEALTH Games are close to extinction – unless they quickly find a new host with very deep pockets.A sporting institution that has been running for almost a century, one that is backed by the soft power of the British Royal Family, is in danger of fizzling out and disappearing from our calendars.

There might be 72 associated nations and territories but NOBODY is prepared to stage the next two events this decade due to rising costs.
Organises have been rocked by the news that Canadian province Alberta will not mount a bid for the 2030 Games given the billion-dollar price tag.
It followed last month’s devastating decision by the Australian State of Victoria to cancel its plans to stage the Games in three years’ time due to budget blowouts.
Though Birmingham did a fantastic job staging the multi-sport Commonwealths only 12 months ago, the quadrennial tournament is under serious threat of never happening again.
    READ MORE SPORT NEWS
It was late on Thursday night that Joseph Schow, the Minister of Tourism and Sport for Alberta, announced the decision not to continue pursuing a bid for 2030.
Initial plans had to be held the sports over 11 days in Calgary and Edmonton.
That particular year marks the centenary year of the first British Empire Games, which were held in Hamilton, Canada, in 1930.
Schow said: ā€œAny proposal to host major games is considered with the interests of Alberta taxpayers at top of mind.

ā€œWe committed to remain transparent with Albertans about the costs of hosting international sporting events and clearly demonstrating a return on our investment for the people and communities in Alberta.
ā€œBased on current bid estimates, hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games could result in a cost of up to C$2.68 billion (Ā£1.57billion).

ā€œThe corporate sponsorship model and limited broadcast revenues for the Commonwealth Games would have put 93% of those costs and risks on taxpayers.ā€
The under-pressure Commonwealth Games Federation continue to say the right things, stressing that ā€œdialogue with other potential hosts is on-goingā€.
They talk about its ā€œproud historyā€, its ā€œiconic sporting momentsā€ and representation for athletes being ā€œthe experience of a lifetimeā€.
But money talks in professional sports and unless they locate a suitable location, the Commonwealth Games may follow the path of the Dodo.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan has offered an olive branch, claiming the ā€œsporting capital of the worldā€ would be the perfect next hosts after the success of the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.
ButĀ any final decision would need to be made by the UK government, which does have a General Election to consider.
ElsewhereĀ Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf has said he is willing to ā€œexploreā€ proposals for Scotland to accommodate at least part of the 2026 Games.
But until someone wealthy enough comes forward soon, then the next edition will have to be postponed by several years or even scrapped altogether.
Whatever happens, a complete rethink is needed about what the Commonwealths look like and how big it should be logistically.
Perhaps the size of the competition and number of individual sports – which was 20 in Birmingham – may have to be reduced dramatically.
Inevitably it’s the athletes who suffer the most and Katy Marchant echoed the disappointment of many who have competed at Commonwealth level.
The Leeds-born cyclist, who won Commonwealth Games team sprint bronze in 2018, said: ā€œThe cancellation of Victoria is a massive hit. It was a disappointing headline to read.
ā€œWe are unsure yet of what will come of that and how that will be rectified.
ā€œThe Commonwealth Games are huge. It’s a massive stepping stone for an athlete.
    Read More on The Sun
ā€œIf the Olympics don’t go to plan, the Commonwealths give you another chance to rectify or to perform on a big stage.
ā€œMedals, whatever the level, all mean something to an athlete and are all part of a journey.ā€ More

And he will step into the ring as a beaten man for the first time following defeat to Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia in February.
So it leaves him fighting to get his career back on track in Dallas against Diaz, who is making his professional boxing debut.
The bout was initially scheduled for eight rounds until the two struck an agreement to prolong it over ten.

He said: ā€œI think the biggest thing was bringing in a new strength and conditioning coach that really had a knowledge of really getting me fight ready that none of my other coaches had previously.Ā

ā€œIt can actually reset you on a proper path and that’s exactly what it did for me.Ā
