    FORMER boxer Tony Jeffries has revealed popstar Robbie Williams “changed his life” when he trained the musician.Jeffries, 38, won a bronze medal for Team GB at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

    He then turned professional and won nine of 10 fights – drawing the other.
    But he was forced to retire in 2012 due to repeated hand injuries and an unsuccessful surgery.
    After hanging up the gloves, he opened his own boxing gym, Box ‘N Burn, in Los Angeles.
    This led him to train former Take That member Williams, 49, who was looking to get in shape for touring.

    And Jeffries has now claimed the singer was a major figure in helping him to give up alcohol.
    He said: “Robbie wanted to switch up his regime and start to do boxing in his everyday life.
    “I worked closely with Robbie for all 2019 and I went onto train him in 2020 too, I went with him in Vegas.
    “Working with Robbie was great, absolutely brilliant person, someone who inspired me a lot actually as well.

    “I was with him five days a week, just about every single week in 2019. He inspired me to quit alcohol and I quit alcohol, and I’ve not drank for four years now.
    “I’ve got a lot to thank Robbie for and we became good friends.”
    Jeffries also explained the type of training he did with Williams – who even ended up body sparring.
    He added: “We did boxing fitness, every session was boxing-oriented.
    “I trained him like I would train a fighter other than the sparring, even though he did want to spar. We just did the body spar. He loved it and he had great results. He told me he was able to perform better on stage.
    “Boxing is great for your every day feel-good factor. It’s physical but also mental.
    “When you’re not being punched in the face, it’s fun. You’re not just getting fit but you’re learning skill as well, it’s great for your mind as well as your body.”
    Back in 2019, Williams challenged long-time rival Liam Gallagher to a boxing fight.
    But, despite fans clamouring for the clash, a bout against the ex-Oasis singer never materialised.
    Meanwhile, Jeffries was forced to close his gym in 2020 following coronavirus pandemic.

    Negotiations over the Battle of Britain resumed after Benn made a short-notice and successful return to the ring against Rodolfo Orzoco in September.
    SunSport understands talks are close to bearing fruit, with a spring punch-up on the brink of being finalised.
    And after getting wind of some social media trash talk from Benn – the son of British boxing great Nigel Benn – Eubank Jr issued the welterweight contender a blunt warning.
    He wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “DEAD MAN WALKING.”

    The jibe from Eubank Jr – the son of former WBO super-middleweight champion Chris Eubank Sr – was in response to Benn vowing to become only the second man to stop Next Gen.
    He wrote: “I can’t wait to punch you in the head @ChrisEubankJr.”
    The mouthwatering domestic dust-up between Eubank Jr and Benn fell by the wayside after the latter tested positive for the banned fertility drug clomiphene – which can elevate testosterone levels in men.
    Benn was cleared of intentionally ingesting the prohibited substance by the National Anti-Doping Panel but both UK Anti-Doping and the British Boxing Board of Control appealed the decision.

    February 3 is the working date for the fight, which The Daily Mail claims will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
    And the undefeated Benn appeared to confirm that is indeed the date for the biggest fight of his career in his ongoing social media spat with Eubank Jr.
    In response to Eubank Jr’s “dead man” tweet, The Destroyer wrote: “I’ll remind you of this when you are being scraped up off the f***ing canvas.

    The duo were then on course to duke it out a multi-million-pound Saudi showdown on December 23 before Team Fury pulled the plug after his horror show against former UFC champ Francis Ngannou last month.
    February 17 is the new date for their long-awaited Riyadh Rumble, which Carl Froch reckons may get delayed until March if Fury enjoys himself too much over the upcoming festive period.
    The former unified super-middleweight champion said on his YouTube channel: “He’s got a bit of timber on him, a bit of derby that he needs to reign in before the fight.
    “I think it’s gonna be a tough one for Tyson to have a good Christmas and New Year, relax, and let his bald head down over Christmas and New Year.

    “He’s got a wonderful family, we’ve seen on Netflix. He’s got a big family, his wife and seven children.
    “So he’s gonna want to relax and have a good time.
    “Is he going to want to be training over Christmas and New Year, which he’s going to have to do, if he’s going to be ready for the February event?
    “I’m not so sure, I’ve got a feeling that fight might get pushed back until March. You heard it here first.”

    They sparred twice in the UFC’s Las Vegas base, over eight and then 12 rounds.
    And it was the second of session that is remembered infamously, as images and footage of the spar leaked.
    It included a disputed knockdown of Malignaggi, which caused the American to storm out the camp.
    The two have continued to feud ever since and now Malignaggi has claimed McGregor was wise not to accept a grudge match with him.

    He told Action Network: “I’m a better trash talker than McGregor, that’s one of the reasons he did not fight me. I would have trashed him in the press conferences and the fight.
    “It would have ended all of the hysteria around him because I would have destroyed him in the trash talking and in the ring.
    “I would have ruined the whole aura around him. He was smart not to pull the trigger on a fight with me.”
    Malignaggi, 43, always insisted he was pushed to the ground by McGregor, who went on to lose in ten rounds to Mayweather.

    It has kept the feud alive but a boxing bout slipped away with McGregor remaining in the UFC octagon.
    Although Malignaggi said the 35-year-old is now a “punching bag” and compared his career to heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua.
    He said: “McGregor was lucky to achieve what he achieved in his career, physically and talent wise he’s up there, but just because you can do a bunch of high kicks from a Jean Claude Van Dam movie, doesn’t mean you’re a fighter; you need guts, you need a willingness to succeed, you need a willingness to enter the trenches and if you don’t have that, you’re going to fade.
    ‘We’ve talked about AJ losing that edge, but McGregor is on a different level. McGregor will quit on you, he does quit.
    “AJ does not take as many risks anymore but at least he’s not quitting. McGregor is an outright quitter.
    “He is a fighter that was not as good as advertised, there was great marketing behind him.
    “And the money he’s made now isn’t helping, so you’ve got a problem – all he’s going to do is continue to be a punching bag.
    “If you’re a punching bag in your twenties, you’ll definitely be a punching bag in your thirties.”
