It wasn’t too long ago he was overlooked by Team GB for the 2008 Olympics and failed to convince the Ireland team to let him in.
One of his earliest professional assignments was a bout at the Norfolk Showground, Alan Partridge would have probably turned a ticket down.
He was infamous for a sketch-show standard verbal volley against David Price where he made a mantra out of the term “you big stiff plumber from Liverpool”.
He even upercutted himself flush in the face once – it went viral when that tern was reserved for infections.

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren, 72, was more eloquent about the sporting contest he faces. He said: “These are two guys in their prime and very rarely in the past 30 or 40 years have heavyweights at their best fought each other.“This is happening and it’s a tremendous fight.“It’s going to be a major moment in sporting history, not boxing history, sporting history.”Fury and Usyk are destined to fight again later this year before the Gypsy King can battle Anthony Joshua in an all-British superbout.Warren said: “If Tyson comes through, of course we want to see the big fight between Fury and AJ.“But I don’t think that will be the fight afterwards. “I don’t think it will be because there is so much money involved for the loser of this fight — and the rematch. “I don’t know what sort of step-aside money you’d give them to do that.READ MORE SUN STORIES“It would only happen if someone was out of action after this first fight — that would be a thing. “But it will come around quickly, February.”Tyson had already won 12 of 12 professional fights back when he was 22Credit: Matthew PoverHe now enjoys a lifestyle he could only dream of when he was living in a log cabinCredit: Matthew PoverTyson has now amassed an estimated £300million personal fortuneCredit: Matthew Pover3% say I’d win fightTHREE percent of Brits think they could beat Tyson Fury, a poll found.

Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk: UK start time, TV channel, live stream, PPV price & card for HUGE undisputed title fight

TYSON FURY faces Oleksandr Usyk in the first undisputed heavyweight title clash since 1999!Fury suffered a nasty gash above his right eye in sparring to see his original clash with Usyk on February 17 go up in smoke as a result.Tyson Fury has lost a stone from his last fight for this oneCredit: ReutersFury holds the WBC title in boxing’s glamour division, while Usyk is in possession of the WBA, WBO, IBF and Ring Magazine straps. The pair have been on a collision course to fight for 18 months, following Usyk’s rematch win over Anthony Joshua in August 2022. Fury only just overcame boxing debutant and former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou last October, as he was knocked down in stunning fashion before going on to win the bout on points. And Fury’s latest scuffle in sparring with heavyweight Agron Smakici, which saw an 11-stitch cut open up below his eyebrow, will be another confidence booster for Usyk. The Ukrainian is looking become the first man in history to win undisputed titles at both cruiserweight and heavyweight – and he’s just one win away. A victory for Fury, on the other hand, would set up an all-British mega-bout with Anthony Joshua.Tyson Fury suffered a cut that postponed the Usyk fight from its original date on February 17Credit: X @QueensburyWhen is Fury vs Usyk?

A price for the event has yet to be confirmed.
You can stream the action from the TNT Sports Box Office app, Sky Sports Box Office app, or the DAZN app, all of which are available onto your mobile, tablet and Smart TV.
Who are their trainers?Fury has once again prepared for the bout with long-time trainer SugarHill Steward. The pair first teamed up for his second fight against Deontay Wilder in 2020 following the Brit’s split from Ben Davison.Steward now lives in Morecambe in order to train Fury in the town instead of having to travel to the USA for his training camps. The former police officer and chef is also the nephew of Hall of Fame trainer Emanuel Steward and previously worked with the likes of Charles Martin at his uncle’s Kronk Gym.Steward recently split from unbeaten British light-heavyweight Ben Whittaker after coaching him since 2022.Meanwhile, Usyk is trained by Anatoly Lomachenko, the father of fellow Ukrainian fighter Vasiliy. He first teamed up with Lomachenko in 2017 after parting ways with former trainer James Ali Bashir.Lomachenko is a former trainer of the year and also coaches his son out of the same gym in Oxnard, California.Vasiliy is the current IBF and IBO world lightweight champion after beating George Kambosos Jr via technical knockout last weekend. What belts are on the line? The first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis will be crowned on Saturday. It will also be the first time a fighter has held all the heavyweight titles in the four-belt era.Fury’s WBC title is on the line, whilst Usyk is defending his IBF, IBO, WBO and WBA (Super) belts. What happened in Fury’s last fight? The Gypsy King last fought in October as he laboured to a controversial split decision victory over Francis Ngannou. He was even knocked down by a left hook from the former UFC champion in the third round.Ngannou had been making his professional boxing debut and has since been knocked out by Joshua in his second bout.Fortunately for Fury, his WBC world title was not on the line.Instead he claimed the WBC Commemorative Riyadh belt as he moved to 34-0-1 with the points win. What happened in Usyk’s last fight?Usyk’s previous fight was also not without controversy, although he won in more convincing fashion. The Cat was leading on the scorecards before securing a ninth round KO victory over Daniel Dubois in Poland last August. His stoppage was the 14th of his professional career to take his record to 21-0.However, Usyk had to survive being floored by a controversial low blow.He was left shaking in agony and stayed down for almost four minutes after being caught just below the belt line by Dubois.SunSport predictionFury and Usyk have established themselves as the two best heavyweights on the planet in recent years.Neither fighter has lost as a professional let alone been finished, with the judges likely to be required this weekend.Fury has shown his durability by taking heavy blows against both Wilder and Ngannou, but it is unclear if these have weakened his chin enough for Usyk to capitalise. The Ukrainian has never been knocked down as a pro but has been far less prolific at finishing fights since moving up to heavyweight. His stoppage of Dubois is his only knockout victory in five fights since leaving the cruiserweight division.SunSport prediction – Usyk on pointsTyson Fury trash talk, Usyk ‘the perfectionist’ and how his sparring partners are all 7ft tall Sun Sport previews Ring of FireFury vs Usyk full cardHere are all of the confirmed fights set to take place on the undercard:

I was involved in some of my own big fights, but I would like to have fought someone like Tyson Fury and at the time I was supposed to fight him.“Even to this day, I think I had a great chance of beating him at that time, but then once I lost, everything seems to fall off the rails a bit for me.”Despite still retaining a huge passion for boxing, he now loves life running his own heating business. He added: “I’ve run my own business doing insulation, heating and renewable energy stuff. It’s just back-to-back busy every single day apart from the weekend, but I love it.“I’m lucky that I’ve found something that I enjoy after sport. I know that a lot of sportsmen have that problem when they retire. It’s working out for me, touch wood.”Meanwhile,  Fury REFUSED to even look at rival Usyk in the pre-fight press conference.Thursday began by the Gypsy King pulling out of a live interview for ITV’S Good Morning Britain. And Usyk’s team continued the eventful build-up to the weekend blockbuster by reportedly filing a complaint that parts of the Riyadh ring canvas could be a trip hazard.Things then came to a head – or rather they didn’t – when the Gypsy King refused to look at, let alone do the traditional face-to-face posturing, with his Ukrainian opponent. But it was the WBC champion’s father John who had stolen the headlines after he shockingly HEADBUTTED Stanislav Stepchuk – a member of the Usyk team – on Monday.READ MORE SUN STORIESJohn, who was left with a bloodied forehead, was then screaming in the resulting melee: “We can’t be beat! We can’t be beat!”The 59-year-old then threatened to headbutt Tony Bellew after he predicted a Usyk win and then launched a bitter attack on “traitor” British fans who believe that his undefeated 6ft 9in boy will be beaten this weekend.Saudi Arabia is no place for Fury vs Usyk… the blockbuster undisputed fight will sound desertedBy Dave Kidd
IT is the single greatest individual sporting title on the planet — the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world.
It is the crown worn by Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Rocky Marciano and Jack Dempsey.
And it is an honour which has not been bestowed for a quarter of a century.
Yet when Tyson Fury steps into the ring to face Oleksandr Usyk for the ultimate accolade in prize-fighting, he will do so in the dead of an Arabian night, in front of a largely disinterested crowd, one with little atmosphere or sense of occasion.
What ought to have been The Greatest Show on Earth will feel like a ding-dong held in a vortex.
The Saudification of elite sport is reaching crisis point — from the civil war in golf, to the march of football’s filthy-rich Saudi Pro League, to the awarding of the 2034 World Cup.
But this event, at Riyadh’s Kingdom Arena, in the early hours of Sunday morning local time, is a true crown jewel, allowing the Sheikhs to bask in its reflected glory, to marvel at their own wealth and power.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr met Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami at the same venue earlier this year but that was an exhibition match, this is the real deal.
The tragedy for British boxing is that it currently holds the balance of power in the heavyweight  division — thanks to Fury, Anthony Joshua and several other decent contenders.
