FORMER Arsenal star Jens Lehmann has received a huge online backlash after questioning official advice regarding coronavirus.
The Gunners icon put out a series of tweets claiming “shutting everything down” could “cause more damage.”

Lehmann also mused whether it was “better staying home” than going out in public.
Responding to latest figures detailing 217,000 infections and almost 9,000 deaths worldwide, Lehmann wrote: “This is difficult to believe now.
“The mortality rate is lower than in previous years across Europe, based on data until 8. March 2020.
“So let’s wait until the end of this week for new data. What if we cause more damage to the well-being of people by shutting down everything?

“Is it better staying home, being quarantined against something we couldn’t measure in previous years, losing the job now or the existence of a successful business?
“Will there be more people getting sick because of huge financial problems than through the virus? Who can answer that?”
But followers on Twitter were not happy with his choice of words.
One said: “Better stick to football.”
Another tweeted: “You should just shut up about pandemics and especially measures against them.”
One gasped: “No offence, you’re a cracking bloke but stick to the goalkeeping on this one.”
Another added: “Congratulations, one of the biggest prejudices against footballers has just been impressively proven.”
