Emre Can sent off for pushing Neymar to ground to spark melee in PSG-Dortmund tie

EMRE CAN was sent off as ten-man Borussia Dortmund were knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain.

The former Liverpool midfielder shoved Neymar in injury time – sending players from both sides rushing in to a touchline melee.

And Can was given his matching orders by Anthony Taylor as his side failed to get the goal they needed to send the game to extra-time.

Dortmund took a 2-1 aggregate lead to Paris but Neymar and Juan Bernat fired PSG in front.

The French champions kept their composure in an all-but empty stadium, with their fans banished due to coronavirus.

Neymar played up to the ‘crowd’ as he applauded the stands before the game.

And he also aimed a cheeky swipe at Erling Haaland by mimicking his celebration after getting the opener.

Neymar nodded home a 29th-minute corner from Angel Di Maria’s to level the tie at 2-2 – and put his side ahead on away goals.

Bernat doubled the hosts’ lead on the stroke of half-time as he scored a composed goal into the left-corner of the net.

Kylian Mbappe – fresh from his coronavirus test after suffering a bout of angina – came off the bench after 67 minutes in a bid to help his side over the line.

Dortmund knew they needed just one goal to force extra-time.

And they threw on Gio Reyna, Julian Brandt and Mario Gotze late on in a bid to snatch that all-important strike.
