Ex-Celtic ace Sutton aims cheeky dig at Rangers by saying they ‘lack balls’ and the league is ‘academical’

CELTIC hero Chris Sutton had a dig at Rangers as he claimed they lacked the balls to beat Hamilton.

The Light Blues are now 13 points behind their Old Rivals in the league table following their 1-0 defeat to Accies.

And Sutton couldn’t resist taking a swipe at the Ibrox side after full-time.

Tweeting after his pundit duties for BT Sport at the Tony Macaroni Arena, he said: “Remarkable night…Celtic show some balls against impressive Livingston to get a point.

“Rangers lacking balls again and lose at home to Hamilton.

“The league looks academical now.”

What remained of Rangers’ title challenge faltered once more after the defeat to Hamilton.

It came just days after their Scottish Cup exit at the hands of Hearts at Tynecastle.

And Steven Gerrard admitted he was “even more disappointed” than he was after the loss to the Jambos.

He said: “We’ve got a lot to do – a big, big lot. Where do we start?

“We have just given three points away, it’s as simple as that. I’m not really sure I’ve got that many words to describe it.

“The effort was there, the commitment was there but we haven’t taken the chances we created in the game.

“Again, a mistake has cost us. That’s where the three points have gone.

“I didn’t think I could be more disappointed than I was after Hearts – but here I am, even more disappointed than I was a few days ago.

“I laid down the gauntlet before the game and will continue to do that.”

Meanwhile, Sutton reckons Celtic boss Neil Lennon will be laughing his head off at Rangers’ latest disaster.

Speaking on BT Sport, he said: “Put everything into context, Neil Lennon’s Celtic team have gone 13 points clear of Rangers.

“I have to say, I thought that was unthinkable.

“I didn’t see Rangers slipping up. He must be laughing his head off.”
