Despite the heated and foul-mouthed exchanges pre-fight, both men were full of admiration for each other come the final bell at the Staples Center.

Following 12 gruelling rounds, which saw the Gypsy King floored before miraculously rising to his feet, security attempted to keep the fighters apart initially.

That was until Fury told them: “Let me get to my bro.”

They enjoyed a warm embrace as they expressed their love for one another before Ricky Hatton, part of Fury’s corner team, hailed the Brit from rising from the mat at the death.

And American Lou DiBella, who promotes events involving Wilder, then grabbed hold of the challenger to tell him he had won the fight.

Speaking on the mic afterwards, Wilder said: “He’s a great fighter. Fury said to me, great fight and that he loved me, thank you for the opportunity and that we are the best in the world.

“I think with the two knockdowns, I definitely won that fight. I didn’t think he had control of the fight, I wasn’t hurt, I wasn’t slow during the fight.

“When you have a fight like that and you’re giving all you got, at the end of the fight that’s what it’s all about.”

But he was not the only one unhappy with the judges scorecards.

Fury said on the mic: “I am a professional athlete who loves to box.

“I’m 6 ft 9 weighing 260 Ibs and I don’t know anybody on the planet who can move like that against that man who is a fearsome puncher but I avoided his shots tonight.

“Me and this guy are the two best heavyweights on this planet.”

Whether there will be as much love between the two next weekend remains to be seen as they go one-on-one again for the WBC heavyweight belt at the MGM Grand Arena.
