Steven Bergwijn reveals celebration is from ‘playing Fifa with friends’ as new boy scores great goal on Tottenham debut

TOTTENHAM new boy Steven Bergwijn scored on his debut and performed his signature celebration – which was inspired by playing Fifa with friends.

The Dutchman arrived at Spurs from Ajax in the winter window for £27million.

And his debut couldn’t have gone any better after he took down a pass from Lucas Moura on his chest before volleying home past Ederson.

As Bergwijn reeled off in celebration he did so with his hand covering his face – a trademark celebration of his.

After signing with Spurs the 22-year-old revealed how the celebration came around.

Bergwijn said: “It’s nothing special, it’s just when I play Fifa with friends, and they say ‘Do it like this’ and since then I do it.”

The forward’s team-mate Son Heung-min also got in on the action attempting to give the celebration a go.

But the South Korean star was soon scoring himself as he doubled Spurs’ lead with 20 minutes left.

Tottenham kept a clean sheet against 10-man City to leap to fifth, just four points off Chelsea who currently occupy the final Champions League spot.

The champions missed from the spot in the first-half as VAR took TWO MINUTES to pull the decision back.

Raheem Sterling – who was lucky to escape red in the first half for a horror tackle on Dele Alli – then went down as he followed up on Ilkay Gundogan’s missed penalty.

But ref Mike Dean waved off the protests as City were made to pay for their fourth missed spot kick in six attempts.
