Man Utd target Bruno Fernandes left ‘furious’ with Sporting after chief rang him to say they’d rejected transfer bid

BRUNO FERNANDES was left furious after being told Sporting had rejected Manchester United’s transfer bid, according to reports.

The Portuguese midfielder wants to secure his move to the Red Devils this month but the two clubs have yet to agree a fee.

SunSport exclusively revealed how United have launched a £34million bid, with a further £25.5m in add-ons.

But Sporting rejected it because they feel they would receive way below their £60m asking price due to the type of installments.

One of those includes a payment if Fernandes wins the Ballon d’Or which Sporting believe is highly unrealistic.

Another included an installment if United were crowned Premier League champions.

According to journalist Duncan Castles, Sporting’s president Frederico Varandas called Fernandes before last night’s 2-0 defeat to Benfica to reveal they had turned down the bid.

The 25-year-old was left furious with the decision especially after his move to Spurs was blocked in the summer.

He was reportedly given reassurances that he would be allowed to leave during January and may further push for a move to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

It is believed he has already agreed to sign a five-year contract at the Red Devils with wages around £120,000-a-week.

One of the problems Sporting – who are said to be closing in on a deal for Fernandes’ replacement – have is because they borrowed against the sale of Fernandes last summer, technically they are only due to clear around 50 per cent of any fee.

United were hoping to drive Sporting’s price down, knowing they are in need of money.

But they are finding the Portuguese firm in their belief that they will not be forced to sell on the cheap.
