TOTTENHAM fans have been left fuming after rookie defender Japhet Tanganga was the victim of another nasty challenge.
Last weekend the right-back was left in a crumpled heap after being caught on the ankle by a crude challenge from Liverpool’s Andy Robertson.
Spurs fans were fuming with this late challenge on their rookie full-back
Incredibly former Spurs midfielder Etienne Capoue escaped without even a booking
This was the challenge on Tanganga from Andy Robertson last weekend
But the Scot managed to get away with a yellow card – which infuriated Spurs fans.
And again today against Watford, Tanganga was felled by another crude challenge, this time by former Tottenham midfielder Etienne Capoue.
Incredibly however, referee Michael Oliver decided against issuing a card of any colour to the Frenchman.
And that didn’t go down well with Spurs fans on social media.
‘COULD HAVE SHATTERED HIS KNEE’
One fan asked “why always him”, while another added that there was “an agenda already” against the 20-year-old.
Or Mager posted to Twitter: “They sure don’t like Tanganga in EPL.”
Even Arsenal supporter Sarah Morgan thought the Spurs man was harshly treated, writing: “Even I say Spurs should be a man up.
“That tackle from Capoue could have shattered Tanganga’s knee and career!”
Another footie fan labelled it “pretty deliberate”, while Ian McKenzie believes it was “at least a yellow”.
Robertson’s mistimed challenge last week drew comparisons with Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s horror challenge against Palace, which was given a red.
And now the latest incident will only heighten the anger at the inconsistencies in football so far this season.
