Sporting Lisbon close in on replacement for Bruno Fernandes as Man Utd transfer nears, with Andraz Sporar linked

SPORTING LISBON are closing in on a replacement for Bruno Fernandes – who is on the brink of finally joining Manchester United.

Former Newcastle star Hugo Viana, now director at Sporting, is in Vienna negotiating a deal to sign Andraz Sporar in a £6m deal, according to Duncan Castles.

The Slovenian midfielder, 25, has been at Slovan Bratislava since 2018 and has scored an incredible 44 times in just 53 league games since then.

With Sporting set to lose a host of goals – and assists – with Fernandes expected to leave, Sporar appears to be the perfect replacement.

Fernandes, also 25, has long been expected to move to Old Trafford, with his move now imminent.

And Sporting will immediately put the money to good use – but will need to wait until the £60million sale of Fernandes has gone through.

Now Fernandes is expected to be at Anfield this weekend for United’s clash at league leaders Liverpool.

The Portuguese star has reportedly already agreed terms with the struggling Old Trafford side and will watch on from the stands.

The 25-year-old is set to bid farewell to Sporting fans during Friday’s Lisbon derby with Benfica.

Sporting have seemingly failed to keep hold of their star man despite tying him down with a new deal just six weeks ago.

He has cemented his spot in the first-team this season after scoring 15 goals and making 13 assists in 25 matches.

And the Primeira Liga side trolled United as they shared a photograph of him training with the words “Job done”.

But Fernandes sent Red Devils fans into meltdown when he posted a cryptic tweet ahead of his move to the Premier League.
