Malaga manager Victor Sanchez SACKED after appearing in explicit video in which he exposed himself in club shirt

MALAGA have sacked Victor Sanchez after he appeared in an explicit video in which he exposed himself while wearing the club’s shirt.

The ex-Real Madrid man was previously suspended as boss of the Spanish second division side but an official announcement last night confirmed his exit.

And they cited the “serious damage” the release of the X-rated video had done to the club.

It read: “Malaga CF has decided to terminate the employment contract that linked it with Victor Sanchez del Amo, effective today, January 11 2020.

“The MCF has made its best efforts to be able to resolve the existing situation in a friendly manner through intense negotiations with Víctor Sanchez del Amo.

“However, despite the continuous and relentless efforts made by the Club, it has not been possible to reach a friendly separation.

“Consequently, MCF has decided to fire Víctor Sanchez del Amo based on disciplinary cases, in accordance with applicable regulations.

“MCF has made that decision considering the serious damage caused to the institution by recent extra-sporting events, in order to minimise its impact on the team and the entire MCF organisation.

“Until the moment in which a new coach is named, Sergio Pellicer will act as coach of the first team and will direct him in the following matches.”

‘SERIOUS DAMAGE’

It had been claimed that blackmailers demanded £17,000 in bitcoins from Sanchez to stop the clip going online.

Sanchez’s wife May Catalina Trigo said she would be standing by her 43-year-old husband in the wake of the scandal.

And she was one of the first to attack the club’s decision to originally suspend him.

She said: “As his wife, I cannot believe that after suffering extortion for doing what he wants in his intimacy without hurting anyone, there are those who attempt to change the view of what happened instead of accusing the guilty.”

It is not yet clear how the video, said to show him exposing himself while wearing a Malaga-branded T-shirt, was obtained.

Speculation has centred on Eastern European criminals, who are often behind the growing crime of sextortion, hacking his social media accounts or someone filming him during a conversation without his knowledge.

A spokesman for Spain’s National Police, which is leading the investigation, confirmed this morning: “The Police CyberCrime Unit’s investigation is ongoing.

“We have nothing new to disclose at this moment in time.”
