Inter ready to pay Spurs £17m now to seal Christian Eriksen transfer in January rather than wait until summer

INTER MILAN are reportedly ready to pay £17million for Christian Eriksen this month to avoid missing out on him in the summer.

The Italian club offered the Spurs star a four-year-deal when they met with his agent, Martin Schoots, in Milan on Friday.

The Guardian claim that Inter are interested in completing the deal this month – which would make it a four-and-a-half year deal.

Eriksen will be available on a free transfer when his Tottenham contract expires at the end of the season.

But Antonio Conte’s side, who are top of the table in Italy, are willing to splash the cash for the Denmark international this month to ensure they land him.

The 27-year-old is set to meet his agent in the next few days to discuss the offer that Inter Milan put forward.

But the Serie A side face competition from French giants Paris Saint-Germain for Eriksen’s signature.

Manchester United were said to be lining up a £20million move for the Danish star.

But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have cooled their interest in the hope of landing him for free in the summer.

Eriksen, who signed for Spurs from Ajax in 2013, has rejected offers of a new deal in excess of £200,000-per-week.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho said: “If I was Jan [Vertonghen] or Christian, I would stay.”
