Chelsea ‘plan £20m transfer bid for striker Fyodor Chalov’ from CSKA Moscow as back-up to Abraham

CHELSEA are reportedly planning a £20m move for CSKA Moscow striker Fyodor Chalov.

Blues boss Frank Lampard wants competition for top goalscorer Tammy Abraham.

And The Express claim he views the 21-year-old Russian as an ideal back-up after seemingly missing out on RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner and Lyon’s Moussa Dembele.

Chalov bagged 15 goals last year for CSKA and has found the net on six occasions so far in the current campaign.

CSKA would be loath to lose the hitman but do they enjoy a good relationship with Chelsea.

And that could lead to an offer of around £20m being accepted should it be tabled by the Prem side.

The report states Chalov is viewed as a “quick fix” for Lampard as he attempts to secure a top four spot.

It is not the first time that the forward has courted attention from these shores.

The star’s agent Christian Emile has previously revealed Crystal Palace were keen.

Speaking about the interest in his client last summer, he said: “Fedor is one of the most striking players in Europe, and the increased interest in him is completely justified.

“Especially from the side of one Premier League club, which made a significant offer, but CSKA refused to sell the player.

“The position of CSKA is completely understandable – they have serious goals, and Fedor is the most important player for them.

“We will follow the development of events and are sure that in any case has a great future.”

Olivier Giroud is almost certainly heading out of the Chelsea exit door.

Palace, Juventus and West Ham are all believed to be plotting a swoop for the veteran Frenchman.

Meanwhile, Spanish forward Pedro may also be on his way this month.
