Peter Crouch beats Harry Kane to Tottenham team of the decade after rivals fans hijack club poll

HARRY KANE has been snubbed from Tottenham’s team of the decade as thousands of rival fans instead voted for Peter Crouch.

Spurs launched a Twitter poll asking their supporters to pick which players are most worthy of making their best XI of the last 10 years.

Starting with the goalkeeper and going through the side into attack, fans were asked to pick who would lead the line between Jermain Defoe, Crouch and captain Kane.

Since Kane has made his debut in 2011, the superstar has finished Golden Boot winner on two occasions, named in the PFA Team of the Year four times and won the Fans’ Player of the Year.

And although the vast majority of Tottenham fans have voted for the prodigal son Kane, Crouch has stolen his thunder.

After the poll was unveiled, the ex-Liverpool, Aston Villa and Stoke man sarcastically commented: “I think it’s a close one but Harry just edges it for me.”

It appears his comment sparked a huge influx of votes from fans of his former team.

After 597,689 votes in total, Crouch took a whopping 61 per cent of it, with Kane on 33 and Defoe on 6 per cent.

In comparison around 113,000 people voted for the best winger which went to Gareth Bale.

One Liverpool fan commented when the voting was taking place: “15 hours left to vote for our lanky lord.”

Spurs clocked onto rival fan’s intentions and joked: “From Twitter: We detected suspicious activity on your account.”

Crouch is a cult favourite at Tottenham following his two years at the club.

He scored 24 times in 93 appearances although failed to hit double figures in a Premier League season.
