Leeds move top of Championship after Miles Harding own goal seals incredible 5-4 win at Birmingham

WES HARDING’S own goal deep into stoppage time handed Leeds an incredible win over Birmingham – and saw them climb back to the top of the Championship.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side came through the nine-goal thriller at St Andrew’s to move above West Brom on goal difference following their defeat to Middlesbrough.

But the Argentine will be left scratching his head wondering how his side had made things so difficult having appeared to have been cruising earlier in the game.

Goals from Helder Costa after 15 minutes and Jack Harrison on 21 appeared to put Leeds in control and on their way to ending their three-match winless run.

But Jude Bellingham reduced the arrears six minutes later before Lukas Jutkiewicz levelled in the 61st minute.

Luke Ayling restored Leeds’s advantage after 69 minutes and set up Stuart Dallas for their fourth goal six minutes from time, sandwiching Jeremie Bela’s 83rd-minute header.

Jutkiewicz equalised again in the first minute of time added on as Blues looked to have scrambled a dramatic draw from the game.

But there was still time for the crazy match to take another twist as Leeds stole the victory five minutes into time added on.

The hapless Harding was left holding his head in his hands when he fired into his own net while under pressure from Ayling’s cross, to consign his team to defeat.
