CHELSEA are willing to smash their club-record transfer fee to sign boyhood fan Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund next summer.
The Blues are now able to sign players again after their transfer ban was lifted – and the teenage sensation is their most high-profile target.
Chelsea are targeting boyhood fan Jadon Sancho
Sancho is close friends with Stamford Bridge winger – and England team-mate – Callum Hudson-Odoi, and the Mail report that the Blues hierarchy are keen to unite the two South London stars.
Despite being unsettled at Dortmund, Sancho will not come cheap, and it is expected that the 19-year-old will cost £100million.
But this shouldn’t be too much of an issue, with boss Frank Lampard being promised at least £150m to spend in January – with even more set for the summer.
Having been banned from buying players in the summer, Chelsea’s only outlay was the £40m spent to make Mateo Kovacic’s loan spell permanent – on top of the deal to sign Christian Pulisic, also from Dortmund, which was put in place in January.
And having made significant money from the sales of Alvaro Morata, Eden Hazard and David Luiz in the summer, the Blues have cash to spend.
Striker Tammy Abraham has been in blistering form since bursting onto the scene at the start of the season.
But Chelsea will also target another striker, with Olivier Giroud almost certain to leave the club.
RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner is high up their list of targets.
And with Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri both having performed poorly this season, Lampard has found himself fielding Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back recently.
The club are very keen to add Ben Chilwell to their ranks of talented young English starters at the Bridge.
But they face a battle on their hands to prise him from Leicester, with Manchester City also keen.
