Man Utd 2 Aston Villa 2: Mings volley seals a point as Solskjaer faces more questions over his job

TYRONE MINGS grabbed an acrobatic equaliser as Manchester United’s top four hopes suffered another setback.

For a second week in a row Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men failed to beat a newly-promoted side – despite battling back from behind to lead.

A Tom Heaton own goal and Victor Lindelof’s header had look set to give the Red Devils all the points – but that would have been harsh on Aston Villa.

The visitors took an early lead Anwar El Ghazi’s cross to back post found its way through to Grealish, at the back post and Andreas Pereira didn’t get close enough.

Grealish had time to cut back onto his right foot before looping a curling shot over David De Gea’s head and into far corner.

El Ghazi injured himself in crossing for the goal and was replaced by Trezeguet, who saw a goal chalked off for offside towards the end of the first half.

United had struggled all half with a shot from Anthony Martial going straight at Tom Heaton afer good work by Fred.

Yet against the run of play the home side got the equaliser just before the break as Fred and Juan Mata worked a short corner

Pereira hung up a delicious cross from the right which Marcus Rashford headed against the post – before it bounced in off Heaton.

Villa should have restored their lead soon after the break as Trezeguet cross deflected off Williams and Grealish somehow slid it wide of the post.

And it looked costly as the home side edged ahead seconds later.

Wesley got his head on a Fred cross from the right but it fell nicely for Victor Lindelof who looped a header back across Heaton and into the far corner.

The lead lasted only two minutes though as Matt Targett chipped a ball over the United defence and Tyrone Mings acrobatically volleyed home.

Even the England defender thought he was offside as he ran back without celebrating but the linesman had got it spot on – Brandon Williams was playing him onside.

Martial could have won it late on for the home side but chipped his shot onto the roof of the net from close range – but a win would have flattered United.
