Arsenal fans rage as Xhaka jogs back while Norwich ace Cantwell runs through unchallenged and puts Canaries ahead

GRANIT XHAKA has been blasted by fans after his laboured attempts to prevent Norwich from scoring in Arsenal’s 2-2 draw at Carrow Road.

The midfielder was making his first Premier League start since being stripped of the captaincy by sacked boss Unai Emery.

It came after he was involved in a furious X-rated clash with fans who booed him after he was substituted against Crystal Palace.

And after Todd Cantwell put the Canaries 2-1 up in the game, fans were quick to criticise Xhaka for his efforts, or lack of them, in tracking back.

One wrote: “Xhaka let Cantwell run straight past him for the second goal.”

Another posted on Twitter: “First goal sure they could have closed the guy but unlucky with deflection.

“Second goal you need cover from midfield in this case it’s Xhaka.”

Dawood Khaleeq wrote: “We really need Torreira as a DM, not Xhaka.”

And Bradley Powell pulled no punches in his criticism, writing: “Where is Xhaka? He should be the one in position to stop that but he’s absolutely f***ing s**t.”

Gareth Murtagh posted: “Disgraceful that Cantwell was able to run that far unmarked, Xhaka asleep again!”

Another Gooner wrote: “The problem for the 2nd goal was Xhaka being to far up when we lost the ball and he’s too slow to get to the edge of the box in time.

“Torreira would have been in the right position.”

Thankfully for Xhaka, Aubameyang scored in the second half as Freddie Ljungberg’s first game in charge ended 2-2.
