Spurs moved up to fifth with this important win over Bournemouth.

Asked about Dele’s return to form, Mourinho said: “That is the best thing for a coach, when you don’t need to speak about a player.

“Everybody speaks already about him and for the right reasons.

“I couldn’t ask any more from him. He’s scoring, assisting, working, fantastic.

“Now he has lots of confidence to play.”

Dele’s three goals in three games has coincided with him playing further forward.

Mourinho added: “For me, Dele is not a midfield player. He is a player to play close to Harry Kane, with freedom to associate with the attacking players.”

Moussa Sissoko’s name was sung by Spurs fans after his rare goal put them 3-0 up.

Mourinho added: “It’s the best feeling for a player to have his fans with him.

“Amazing song, beautiful really and I was singing along . . . trying to!”

After closing the gap to six points on fourth-placed Chelsea, Mourinho added: “When I arrived, we were 12 points behind.

“I said if we think too much about it, we are going to get depressed. We are going into a period with lots of matches to put pressure on our opponents.”
