THERE will be no ring girls for the Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr rematch in Saudi Arabia on December 7.
Traditionally boxing has young, beautiful women often in little more than bikinis holding up cards to indicate what round is next between rounds.
Ring girls will be banned for the Anthony Joshua-Andy Luiz Jr rematch in Saudi Arabia
But the Middle East has strict guidelines on what women can wear in public.
Out of respect for the culture, boxing promoters have dropped the ring girls.
Ruiz beat Joshua in June in one of the biggest shocks in boxing, taking his world titles.
When WWE held a bout in the kingdom recently, WWE chief Stephanie McMahon said: “We need to be respectful of the cultures in the countries we perform in.”
AJ needs to beat Ruiz in their rematch or move into boxing oblivion.
He was floored twice in the third round by the roly-poly Mexican, with the fight eventually stopped in the seventh.
California-based 29-year-old Ruiz took the fight on short notice, after a handful of dimwitted potential rivals turned it down, and pulled off the most amazing of upsets.
He was a 25/1 shot to dethrone WBO, WBA, IBF and IBO champ Joshua – but he pulled off what most believed was the impossible.
Ruiz and Joshua have both lost a lot of weight since the last bout.
AJ has been tipped to try and out-box the Mexican in Riyadh and try and avoid his big punches if he is to have any chance of victory.
