West Ham hope to beat Everton to ex-boss David Moyes as pressure ramps up on Manuel Pellegrini

WEST HAM are ready to challenge Everton for David Moyes as the managerial sack race hots up.

Both of Moyes’ old clubs are eyeing up the Scotsman to replace their under-fire coaches. Everton’s board held talks after Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat by Norwich left Marco Silva’s future on a knife-edge.

And Manuel Pellegrini is under severe pressure with West Ham only one place off the Premier League drop zone following a horrendous run of eight games without a win.

Moyes has been out of work since his interim contract at West Ham expired at the end of the 2017-18 season.

He lifted the team after Slaven Bilic’s sacking and secured a 13th-placed finish but was then overlooked in favour of Pellegrini.

Moyes would be happy to listen to the Hammers and move back to London.

Pellegrini takes his team to Chelsea on Saturday knowing another defeat like the one against Tottenham on Saturday could force the club’s top brass to pull the trigger.

The tough run facing Everton may earn Silva a stay of execution.

But the Toffees must also move fast if they want a reunion with the man who led them into the Champions League during his 11 years at Goodison Park.

Majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri, director of football Marcel Brands and chairman Bill Kenwright met straight after the defeat to the Canaries and more talks were held later in the weekend.

Silva, who replaced Sam Allardyce at Goodison 18 months ago, has spent £226million.

But he has won just 19 of his 51 Prem games in charge, losing 21.
